What is the console command to show sounds in DM? To avert potential confusion, I am referring to the console command that shows all sounds as invisible boxes (save for an outline) that have a directional arrow attached in addition to their name which appear in game when a sound is triggered - aka opening/closing a door.
I checked the 'Console Useful Controls' wikipage but what I am looking for was not there.

Lux, you have just become my favourite person for today!
Removing the Appdata folder and then re-installing did the trick.
Now I can get back to mapping!
(Mods, consider this issue solved!)

As topic says succinctly, Dark Radiant has suddenly started crashing on start up, during the loading process.
It dies at the point where the loading bar states: Initialising Module: XML Registry
I have uninstalled DR and the problem is still persisting.
This has literally happened out of the blue, everything was running perfectly this afternoon, any ideas?

For some strange reason, I am having difficulty with blood decals.
I have tried dragging out a worldspawn brush, offsetting it from the wall by 0.125 and apply my chosen blood decal. I have also tried selecting the wall face and using the 'create decal' function.
However, when I go into DM, the decals are not rendered at all. When I switch to r_showTris 2 mode, I can see that the patches are actually there, but are inexplicably not being rendered.
Any ideas as to what's going wrong? I have not encountered this problem with other decal types (aka webs dirt, etc)

Just finished the mission. Really impressed! The architecture, music and ambience kept me on the edge of my seat, leaning out at every corner, eager to explore more of the mysterious Gatehouse.
Well done to all those involved!

Moving over to Win 7 soon. But currently still on XP, hence my vote.

@Bikerdude
Fast internet connection? Well, when you live in South Africa, what is considered 'fast' may actually be slow internationally. Suffice to say, on good days and at the right time, I am able to download games from Steam servers (which are locally based) at 1MB/sec. When it comes to international downloads, my download speed varies depending on server distance and the state of the deep sea fibre optics linking Africa to Western Europe and the US.
I don't have TeamViewer installed and I am - in any case - concerned (I suppose you could say, a little paranoid) about opening my PC up for remote control. Perhaps, I may consider using TeamViewer, if greebo has no luck with the crash dumps.
I will be sending greebo the contents of the error messages as soon as I compile a number of them from both my current installation and a clean one.

Version 1.8.0
I have un-installed DR so many times in hopes of fixing the problem over the past year, I have lost count.
This problem also persisted when I installed DR on my other PC.

Hi Bikerdude
I have done so, unfortunately, no matter what I try - DR still crashes when I attempt to translate a vertex (or a cluster of them).
-
Hi all
I think I have discovered two bugs in DR with respect to patches.
I will list the more serious bug first.
Firstly, I created a basic cylinder patch, selected a vertex and attempt to translate the point. Every time I try this, DR immediately crashes. Moreover, I have tried this with different patch types and the same error occurs every time. Sometimes, I get lucky and the vertex does translate one or two points before crashing DR.
Steps to recreate:
1. Draw out worldspawn shape
2. Create simple patch (Shift + P)
3. Go into vertex mode
4. Select vertex
5. Attempt to translate (using mouse to drag point)
I have found that only by using Resize mode am I able to do any manipulation of patches. And sometimes, even that crashes DR.
This bug has totally prevented me from effectively and quickly working with patches, so much so, that I leave patch work for last - out of fear that DR will suddenly crash on me, causing me to lose progress.
Secondly, I tried creating a simple patch from worldspawn (while in translate mode). Upon clicking 'OK,' DR died. This happened several times, until suddenly...the bug mysteriously disappeared and everything works.
Steps to recreate:
1. Draw out worldspawn shape
2. Create simple patch (Shift + P)
3. Click OK
---
I really hope something can be done about this. Has anyone else been experiencing Bug #1?

I'm looking forward to the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, Watch_Dogz (hoping it's not another broken port) and Star Citizen.

Hi all
I was checking out 'The Editors Guild' at TTLG and I came across this thread where a number of different contributors have been making HQ versions of Thief textures.
Obviously, TDM is intended to be a unique IP and so I don't know if we will actually be able to use any of the textures, though some do look very similar to some textures we are using.
The link below goes to the last page in the thread.
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140187&page=40
Some textures look fantastic and having more to work with is never a bad thing.
Can anyone from the TDM Team shed some light on whether we would be able to use any/some of the textures (having received creator permission first, of course!)?

I have been having a lot of difficulty mapping since the update to 1.8.0 due to a two glitches.
1. Pressing 'W' after cloning a brush causes the engine to crash - this glitch is a new phenomenon
2. Sometimes, manipulating a patch vertex while in ('Q' mode) also causes DR to crash. This makes using patches impossible, because sometimes I will be able to successfully manipulate a vertex and then all of a sudden DR crashes and I lose all my progress.
3. Sometimes, simply drawing a new brush causes the engine to crash for no explicable reason
if anyone knows how to solve the above problems, I would really appreciate it because - as it stands - I cannot continue mapping.

I'm trying to get an AI to 'relight' an electric light that is activated via a switch. I have succeeded previously when it comes to re-igniting torches, however, I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong even after reading the wiki on this topic.
A short step by step guide would be greatly appreciated.

Just a question about DarkRadiant and 2.0. I moved my darkmod folder out of the Doom 3 folder; however, when I start up DR v. 1.7.3 it tries to detect Doom 3 in the preferences menu (an operation which I cancel) and now I cannot access any textures. How do I get DarkRadiant to use only DarkMod assets?
-
Tried both suggested methods, still no success. I will just wait for TDM 2.0 to be released, or alternatively, attempt to play through the entire level without saving on Windows 7.
-
I have tried altering some settings, raising/lowering them...but no luck. I have also tried searching the wiki for help, but have yet to find the correct page.
What specific settings must I alter?
-
@Bikerdude
I have 4GB RAM, of which XP SP3 can only access 3.48GB (32bit restrictions). I have also tried it after a full reboot - same error occurs.
As to my other specs:
EVGA GTX 560 Ti
Intel i5 2500K 3.3Ghz
This is the first time, I have ever had such an error appear when loading a level.
-
Tried running it on my Windows 7 PC and it works, only just can't save (I assume because I'm accessing Dark Mod from my other HDD, and Doom 3 / Dark Mod are not technically installed). So, the error message that I posted above occurred when I ran it on Windows XP SP3
-
Congrats on the release, Fieldmedic.
Unfortunately, when I tried loading it up...this happened. The game crashed and the following error appeared.

Is it possible to manipulate rag-dolls / AI so that they are positioned in a particular stance? I want to prop one up against a wall, so that the AI slumps against it.
Secondly, would it be possible for someone to make a video tutorial on creating various shapes with patches? The wiki entry only covers bevels, cylinders and arches, but having played many FMs - it's clear that patches are incredibly versatile and a detailed video tutorial would go a long way to helping new mappers figure out how best to utilise patches.
