I was perusing TDM clips off youtube when I came across another set of clips from a game called Overgrowth. Looks like they're building an engine from the ground up, showing it's development with physics and environmental effects. Their blog does a really good job of getting its viewers involved as well. Just thought I'd share! :)

They already made a game, called Lugaro. That one looks like it will be even better, but I have no idea when they finish :)

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man." -- George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

"Remember: If the game lets you do it, it's not cheating." -- Xarax

Lugaro was about the attack rabbit wasn't it?

I played the demo and really liked it. It wasn't a technical marval by any means, but it had real charm, and it had some actually pretty sophisticated melee mechanics ... so it's in that group like with Mount & Blade and our own Dark Mod, first person with a lot of control in fighting. You're not just aiming and pushing a trigger.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Lugaru, and yes, it was a rabbit fighting game. :)

Wolfire definitely knows how to drum up pre-orders! They're hitting all the high notes w.r.t. indie promotion and marketing. Really good job.

Oh, and the game looks good too. :P

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.
