Maybe a little problem with the updater

I've downloaded the full mod from Torrent (very quickly!), and then installed on the right directory on .doom3/darkmod/

Then today i tried the updater (linux version), and the updater form the shell tried to update *all* the files of the Mod!

When he's checking checksum i think there is some problem, because i don't think that *all* files need to be updated.

Can someone confirm if all files of the mod changed form the main torrent release?

I've been seeding the torrent since release and just ran the updater. Everything is fine and nothing was downloaded. Just make sure you are running it in the darkmod folder, not from another directory.

As Leatherman said, they shouldn't change. Does the updater say the file needs to be updated, or does it say it is missing? Could you post the output please?

As Leatherman said, it was mine fault: the updater must be launched from the directory, is mandatory. I was launching with:

 ladro@mymachine:~/ /home/ladro/.doom3/darkmod/tdm_update.linux

But results with a wrong checksum, as said.

So the right think to do is to launch the updater exactly from the directory path.

So the problem is solved! ;)

I hope it helps others with eventually the same issue.

Thank you all for helping ;-)

[it's useful/possibile to add *solved* on the title of the first message ?]

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
