  1. Well, you are right about drivers, but when was the last time someone really had a problem because his cdrom was not supported???
  2. I'd also vote for a randomizer to replace walls and doors. After all, it's pretty boring to run through the same map again and again. If mapper could randomly replace doors and walls, that would be cool and would offer so much more replayabillity.
  3. Oddity, not everbody lives in a cave without contact to other poeple.
  4. That's a very diplomatic way to phrase it.
  5. Yup! I already did my share in the evolution. I just have to indoctrinate my kids, that they also participate and don't forget their duties to my genes.
  6. You are confusing the scope here. I know that millions of kids were born before my were born, but that doesn't matter because for ME it is still special. You are confusing the big scope with the personal experience. If the personal experience wouldn't be a good feeling, then guess where we stand today.
  7. Doesn't matter if you are doing it this way or more "natural". These misscarriages are very frequent, especially in the early days, so don't get discouraged. I can only confirm that I never regretted to get children and it's well worth it. Despite some people telling me that I loose my freedom (which is true to some extent) and only get into troubles and so on. Just looking at my kids and seeing them grow, even if they screw up every now and then, makes me so proud of them, which is well worth all the troubles they cause.
  8. Well, the teaser is pretty average IMO. Not much to see. Maybe somebody who knows the previous installments sees more, but for me there is just this rotation of that model and the voiceover. The accustics are well done and straightforward. No surprises there. Personally I think our teaser was better, because it showed some actual work, even though it was mostly concepts and half finished models.
  9. So it's called "multiplatform" now if they need an excuse for crappy game desgin?
  10. Ah! What a blessing! Thanks!
  11. Does anybody know how to disable these annoying popups? Everytime I start Windows XP, there is some shield in the lower right corner which tells me that my computer is insecure. I know that! I installed Windows after all! I want to get rid of this, because it's simply annoying like hell, but I haven't found any options for that. Only to activate or deactive it, but not the popups.
  12. I try to do that also. Emphasis is on "try".
  13. Ok. Seems I should give it a try.
  14. I haven't played the previous installments of Deus Ex, so I can't say anything about that. On another note: What does "We do not welcome agumented people here." I looked "augmented" up in the dictionary, but it doesn't make sense to me.
  15. Well, I have seen enough games I was really interested in, which turned out with some major flaws. The last one was HL2, which cured me of investing to much interest into a game to early on. Ok, the game itself was good, but Steam made the day for me ...
  16. The bigger question is: Is it any good?
  17. The problem is that the collision model is not scaled accordingly. So if you try to put a movable on the table it might fall down, despite looking as if it should hit the table. At least if you would put it on that part that is scaled. Conversly if you make it smaller, it might be suspended in teh air, because the CM still has the old dimensions but the table looks smaller. I had this issue with a plank. I scaled it bigger, and then I could walk through the model until I hit the original sized CM of it. We can fix this only when the source is released.
  18. Yes, that was the one. So are you still working on that?
  19. Be aware that the resize hack should only be done for models where the player doesn't have to interact with in any way. This includes also bumping into it. For a table I don't think it will work, because of that restriction, unless the table is unreachable.
  20. So, yesterday I actually did it. Installed XP. So far it needs a a bit of, erm, getting used to. Can't say that I like it, but I guess I will adjust to it. So now comes the long and boring task of installing all the stuff that I need. I'm sure I will miss hundreds of little tools, I completely forgot about, but I guess this might be also a good thing. At least Thief works now again. Not that I really thought it is a problem of W2K, because it used to work. I guess this is simply as it is in Windows. With all that updates, installing and removing, over the years it gets corrupted, even if it works most of the time. So you really need a fresh install every now and then. And since I thought it would be now time for that, I thought I could just install XP, as I already planned to do this anyway. I'm quite curious wether blackheart_manor will now work on my system (even if it will be slow like hell).
  21. No matter how you do it, you will still need that capture event. But I find togglable interfaces not very intuitive.
  22. You can use CaptureMouse (or some such) to avoid this. Don't know if this is available in DR as you use GTK, right? But it definitely is availabe in Win32, so maybe they have a wrapper for that. http://www.codeproject.com/gdi/mousecapture.asp
  23. Did you try the right mouse button? Personally I find it really annoying that I have to toggle the movement by using the right mouse button to enable/disable it. I tend to forget it, and then I move the camera widly around because of it. I would prefer it if the movement is active as long as the button is pressed.
  24. Happy Birthday Greebo! The man who singelhandedly makes the mod come alive whith his AI.
