  1. I hear this about Styx more and nore and I am a Steam impulsive on-sale buyer, at least it did not cost much on that sale. I am also one that buys in-development games on sales. I need to pay more attention to what I am buying. Thank you though.
  2. This looks interesting: Done by the same guys that made Styx although this looks is closer to: I really enjoyed that game but a lot of people called it below mediocre. Just found it trying to find a video review of Styx.
  3. Well I have started Thief 4 without the annoying Swooosh, and my biggest complaint is the hand holding though the level so far. The story so far is reminiscent of Dishonored and the cut scenes are well done well but I imagine they will soon become annoying as well. I HATE the X-Box from the first to the newest. I hope I did not offend anyone just my personal belief. Every PC AAA game is designed around the X-Box, and the UN-removed PC versions that have "press O or X or A" is proof. I want to explore so I am hoping I will be allowed some free roaming in the later parts. But still not as bad as I expected, but then again I enjoyed and liked Dungeon Lords.
  4. OK, that said i don't need a laugh track, but I can understand - but the saving grace for Fable on the PC was to fart so much it drove a bully away. We all have our sense of humor, I go with some dry humor, and a good fart joke can give me a belly laugh. The thing that drives me to Horror movies - they are all the same, maybe 1 out of 20 can be interesting, is the complete lack of funny movies and TV shows, other than The Trailer Park Boys and the last movie that had me laughing crazily was Step Brothers. We all have a different sense of humor as I said and since Step Brothers with Will Ferrel, I can barely chuckle or have a good laugh. I knew a guy that was very intelligent and computer tech wise, (don't take this wrong - but he also stabbed his friend in the heart so many times the coroner could not count) but he had the corniest jokes that I have heard. I never payed attention to that but my friend was very supportive to that theory, but i would not go out of my way to say that's not funny, (beside that I don't want him to stab me to death) because maybe someone does think his corny jokes are indeed funny. Gameplay and fun, and being so involved that I forget to save for 5 hours that's the game I will enjoy. Personally I can look beyond dumb jokes and get to gaming. Maybe to some that is not possible. I knew a group of people that said that anyone that likes Family Guy or Monty Python is so far bellow them, Well hopefully they are very very far below me now.
  5. I don't see how this makes sense, are you saying that that community is helping? I went to the page and could not find anything, and I am sorry but it has so many links or buttons that go nowhere it reminds me of a phishing site. Sorry about tour neighbor and your mom though.
  6. Bikerdude: another Through The Looking Glass Alumni. Just a question, how old were you when The Dark Project was released sometime in 98, I was 31, and was blown away by it, when FPS's were all about finding the best guns - except Half Life.
  7. I just found a DVD rip in the folder, lame I am sure. I also have a ridiculous folder structure for Dark Mod: The Doom 3 game folder - still running after 7 years. If I was low on disk space I would have spotted this, but I have 19 hard drives of which 16 are 3TB HGST drives, most of these are in 4 quad bay Esata external enclosure's, and 2 are SSD drives and 1 iVelociraptor 10,000 RPM 1TB drive (my game drive). I am very anal about my folder structures on my every day drives, I capitalize every word of the folders when I can and break them Into logical sub-folder's that I re-arrange when needed, but dark mod and thief 3 edit are in a folder that I has other items that I hardly look at ever:
  8. I have two games I worked on and I figured I would just save them on a disk, or another disk and now 2 disks. I have 2 spare drives on a Esata Port multiplying external enclosures. It takes little space and I figured maybe someday I will get back at it, but those days may be over I don't know so I made a couple of movies out of Thief II and TDM. before like you I may just delete them to save space. a lot of time and effort went into them as well making it just important to put together and see if anyone likes this or that, who knows. Dark Mod and Radiant is 37GB, T3edit is 13.5GB this is with lot of extracted and unnecessary content, but that's all in folder that I have not used since T3Edit was unusable in Windows 7. Dark Radiant, is a very good editor, but the learning curve is way higher than that of Thief3edit, the one thing that kills my creative side is scripting, primarily real Python scripting, the scripting in T3Edit is basic: "if this is this and or equal to this then do this, if this is not that or equal to that then goto line 20" well not exactly but logically anyway. That would be the extent of my C64 basic programing experience back in 1988. Oh and I forgot to mention that my Day of Defeat Source map that was 4 - 6 months in and about a year to go, steam decided to delete my map files. It was my first game editor and I was checking everything in it and all textures and models had to be just right, so maybe it was a blessing, I don't know. Just so you know GOG's Thief 3 works on Windows 7 & and I think Windows 8 and 10. I tried my FM in VMware Workstation 12.5 with a Windows XP install and the frames rates were practically unplayable, but then I doubt VMware Workstation is meant for gaming.
  9. I thought Garret was a self serving anti-hero enough, so the goblin would be cool to play. The video on my FM for Thief III would - I know your tired of hearing about it - with the secret doors and so many places to hide, I would make even on easy level no killing and at higher no seen bodies or blood. I run my way around the guards to easily. So now Thief 4 or Styx, I don't know but I do thank all who offered their opinion. I know you may think this sounds like Lobster or Steak, but one amazing good side of Steam is the ridiculous sales and buying AAA games a year later for $5.00-$15.00 and that's why I have so many games to play from Steam, GOG and Gamers Gate that I forget the games I have. I have 219 Steam games - It is ridiculous do to the bundles of 20 games but are only interested in 3 or so, but they are $20.00 for an entire publisher, so how can you go wrong.
  10. Judith, are you the same Judith in the TTLG forums? Can you remember my post in 2008 for passing the project to someone to complete. Well Cracked Gear did nothing with It, so I decided to do a filming of before I lose the files somehow. Here's the post: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119324&highlight=adopt I am going to post a video of about a full on month of about 10 hours a day. For some reason I lost about 1 more month, I had a guy sitting in the generator room, there was a secret door on the sewer wall at the unlit torch. and a bunch more in the sewer entrance and secret door as well as a sign about Bafford's illegal smuggling of art. as well as the overall lighting in the courtyard. from my maps I found the courtyard was made first and then moved to the entrance. I liked the courtyard I did In Thief 3 Edit because for some good reason the arches that I found as a static mesh with the editor, fit perfectly, so I did the same with DM and made them or found them or they may be brushes I don't remember. It would not be do to save space: I am a perfectionist so I spend an entire day to add smudges on the base of the sewer and making sure the UV textures are perfect. I think I also edited the lamps in the corridor of the sewer to get the strange shadows in between the columns. It really makes me wonder why the latest maps are not in the folder I saved since 2010. Anyway it's just a small video of work mainly the sewer entrance: https://youtu.be/0aYnwCQ7q3g Now remember I made and Imported most columns the railings in the elevator and the archway in the hallways of the courtyard. I think most of the construction was made by me and imported into the editor.
  11. I am just curious as to some models that are still needed, any type of hard edged modeling I can do. Although I am a bit a flake so I would be able to do some while my head is not completely into something that I catch out of the corner of my eye, and I love that chair, it's the type of thing I can do least, with the engravings. These are my moms house and I was trying different paints and furniture arrangements, very long time ago. I have one more of sword I dreamed from BOC's Black Blade (its just not black) everything is not as I would want it bit then other people says it looks good enough. i am the type of guy that sees something slightly wrong and redo the entire project Some of the models needed seem a little easy (leg of lamb) and I consider myself a little or lot below average.
  12. Yeah that would never make it out a 2 person playtest, had me scared there.
  13. It was a decent intro, but why does he say Booosh every time he finds loot - is this a word in another language I am unaware of, and is there an option to get rid of that? Has anyone tried Styx: Master of Shadows? I have it put it's not installed. OK, I started the game prologue and thankfully no weird noise with loot, I feel sorry for the gamers with that sound, its like some sort of torture or a deliberate way to keep immersion out of the game.
  14. Thank you for the help but I have seen 3 imperfections on my Thief 3 FM, and I take way too long to work on a Dark Mod map, I am a perfectionist nad just don't have it in me to work on anything right now. and like I said I lost a month or 2 of work when I looked for my most recent map out of 3000 of them, just searching and loading by date and also size. Thank you for the helpful Ideas though.
  15. I guess I was the game was as bad as I heard from the thief era, and generally use to playing these types of games on a PC - well maybe as the first 2 was PC exclusive - as thief 3 was thought out to be compatible for console, the level changing was believed to be an Xbox problem. But thief 3 at least had colorful characters and garrets voice and even added some interesting wandering through town other than the constant hiding from every guard every time you want to go anywhere in the town. So you are all saying that any resemblance to thief is just the title, and then as just a game itself it is sub par. I hope you are not talking about my Thief FM I posted, and sorry for the double post.
  16. I loved Dishonored. Dishonored 2 is still at AAA price so I will wait for a sale, the new Deus Ex is still that price as to, and. Deus Ex: Human Revolution a very good game, so sale time around thanksgiving I should pick these up. I also have Styx: Master of Shadows, not too sure about that one and I have some assassins creed games as well. i have been working with a design for a arcade cabinet made out of different types of steel. I spent at least 8 months with dark mod back in 2010, as well as the Hammer half life 2 for a Day of Defeat map back in 2005 and Thief 3 Edit for about a year back in2007. I always get into something and take a look at something and then get distracted from a project and move on to something else. I was working on a steel arcade cabinet design that I will probably put away for now and play thief 4. Good advice thank you. I guess I wanted a true Thief game with rope arrows and the ability to explore each and every corner and then thinking where was that loot in the mission was, or trying a game on hard level and making sure you are do not make any mistakes, especially in cragscleft - that was hard to do just right. One thing I forgot to mention about the early Thief games, that was the amazing art design before the next mission also garrets voice I don't think these are irreplaceable. Arcade cabinet idea:

  18. Hey, I am a thief lover from the dark project and I am sure we all know the atmosphere, creepy music, sound effects and the Looking Glass chimes or whatever that sound was and complete immersion of it. I know Thief 3 was different take on it because of the console cross platform and it was dumb-ed down a bit and loading different areas was not welcome, but I still enjoyed it. But Thief 4 I am afraid to try, I bought it on a steam sale and have not even downloaded it, and all I can think of is no jumping or mantling, This may be nitpicking but I cannot imagine a thief game without jumping or mantling, and also a lot of thief gamer's where disappointed with it. So please can anyone defend this game or is it too much of a disgrace to its name. Also the site Through The Looking Glass does not have a forum based on this game, so that says a lot. They fo have a Deadly Shadows section. Oh and check out my video of Thief 3 Deadly Shadows, it really held most aspects of the thief series.
  19. Sorry guys if I was paying attention to the wiki I would not have Dmap start the map, i would have used MAP . Anyway I will make a video of it and post it here if anyone wants to see a unfinished map. Also I have 2000 or more maps - I save very often just habit - and the last map I found is incomplete and I will just stop there.
  20. Is there a way to delete the AAS entities for whatever they are my memory from 2010 in gone and this is all new. I do not beleive I have a AI entity anywhere so there would be nor reason to have a navmesh at all if that's what they are called. I have no idea inmy map and its not small, and I envisioned 3/4 more to go. Here's a snap of the wire frame: The Thief 3 FM is not a big deal, it's just something I made as soon as upload it no one will post after it, I don't understand.
  21. I have - Back in 2010 edited and ran the Maps on: Darkradiant 1.40 x86 Dark Mod1.02 I just bought Doom 3 on Steam for $5.00 and its as undated as it could get. I just downloaded the update from your website. Man I really apreciate yor help. I posted a video on youtube with the Through the Looking Glass forums under Thief 3 Editors Guild, and got no response which is cool until I asked them to change my typo one thread topic, and they have not fixed it or given me a way to fix it myself. If you want to see what I started with Thief 3 editor and wanted to do with Darkmod here's the link: The quality downgraded by 1/2 on the upload and it was hardly compressed in my editor. The Darkmod map or mission is the same II just did not get as far. Thank you for the quick reply.
  22. Hey its been a while since I was here with all the model import problems. I have decided to show off some of my work to just find a way to say hey I did this but it was also unfinished, to make a video and be done. So as you can imagine 7 years ago was a lot of time from my experience, I do not want to edit anything, but would like to load up a map, and I have run into problems with that, I found the latest version of my map through literally 2000 saved maps (I do this to go back and find a map that I may go back to in a problem with the latest 10 saves) anyway the map I found comes up with "cannot find aas.rat or something and tried again an got a saved to map proc or something. Does anyone know why an un-leaking map would show these things compiling but not start the map itself. Thank You.
  23. Still working on the script tweaking the parameters. But thanks are definitely in order. Thanks for the help Fidcal
  24. Hey guys I haven't worked on my Fm for about a year, and decided to get back to it. As far as mapping I can get around fairly well myself, but when it comes to scripting I am practically clue-less. The fact that I don't even know the proper syntax of the scripting basics, makes it a little like spelling without knowing the alphabet. I have two scripts I would like to make, and was hoping someone could take the time and write the script with the proper syntax, so I can continue the fun of mapping! This is basically what I have come up with, If you could correct it for me that would be cool. First script will be a entity: "atdm:lamp_electric_square_1_lit" controlled by an on/off switch. Here goes: (The delays are seconds) light_switch_trigger_script_1 ( if = off delay 1 set color 0.33 0.33 0.33 delay .7 set color 0.22 0.22 0.22 delay .3 set color 0.11 0.11 0.11 delay .1 set color 0.00 0.00 0.00 if = on delay .1 set color 0.11 0.11 0.11 delay .3 set color 0.22 0.22 0.22 delay .7 set color 0.33 0.33 0.33 delay 1 set color 0.44 0.44 044 ) The numbers I will tweak on my own - Its just the general idea. The second script will be a entity: "func_rotating" controlled by an on/off switch. ( if = off delay 1 set rotation speed 8 delay .7 set rotation speed 5 delay .3 set rotation speed 2 delay .1 set rotation speed 0 if = on delay .1 set rotation speed 2 delay .3 set rotation speed 5 delay .7 set rotation speed 8 delay .1 set rotation speed 10 ) I think it is pretty obvious I know nothing about scripting! Please help me come up with a valid script that I can copy and paste into the script window. Thank You.
  25. Thanks fidcal it works perfectly! Just had to target both doors with a button. Thanks Again. One thing I wanted to know is if there is a tutorial on using stim/response. I was completely lost in the editor. I am used to T3ED conversations.
