It's not that. In some occasions, the blackjack simply went through the NPC without doing anything. No hit, no sound, nothing. It's as if you're sriking through air.

That said, I don't know if that happened to @lowenz here.

I got that with two guys

    Spoiler

playing cards in an upstairs room above a hungry beggar, finding the room counts as a secret, neither could be BJ'd even after a restart ... they could be gassed though 😈, the beggar was unappreciative of their food 🙁

Whereabouts, in Yorkshire perhaps?  I have lived in England all my life, mainly the east midlands, the north west and the south east, and everyone I know pronounces threepenny as threppenny, the double e being pronounced as a short e rather than a long e.  The UK has many accents for a relatively small place, so the pronounciation you suggest may exist, but is not the most common one.

I'm a 65 yo Mancunian, everyone I know pronounced it as "Thrupenny"

  3. Well that was fun, took me a while to work out how to get into the upper floors, I'm quite proud of getting to the archer over the river he was bugging me

    Tragically death visited the area

    Spoiler

Mr Coates was attending a soiree in the hotel and slipped on a misplaced candle plummeting head first into a toilet that someone had left the seat up on, unable to extricate himself, he drowned in the murky, noxious & surprisingly deep liquid

Let this be a reminder to put the seat down when you finish guys 😉

    Spoiler

Also in an unrelated accident Mr Sharpe fell in the mansion pool & drowned while on a midnight walk

    Or so everyone believes 😈

I did have a few issues at the beginning where the game crashed to desktop a couple of times right at the start but that has apparently been looked at, so I'll give it a few weeks & try the new version

Also Mr Harrington was inside his apartment walking into the wall with the veranda on the other side when I found him, not sure if that's been mentioned

But overall a really enjoyable mission, excellent architecture, well decorated, good but not impossible puzzles, thank you 👍

  4. Sorry if this is a bit late or it's been fixed, my memory is atrocious these days

On the way to the beggar there's a courtyard with an accessible roof section (pictured)

There's a generator with a climbable pipe & a spikey guard rail (centre of image)

So naturally I climbed the pipe to get over the rail, jumped off the pipe & ended up inside the roof to the right

This is on the original release version of the mission

Feel free to delete this once it's been seen I'm conscious space is an issue with image storage

  5. OK

"Coding. Especially GPT-4 is magnificent." @vozka - Because it was trained on data from sites like Stack overflow where human written code snippets abound, these are being plagiarised without any recognition of the original author or which site they came from. They mined the internet wholesale to train their clockwork parrot, not one person who provided data for this plastic plagiarist will see any recognition or a single penny for their work

"What you can't do is nail your work to the church door for all to freely see, or give it to every merchant to sell on the open market, and then retroactively decide you want to reserve additional rights for yourself!" @ChronA - Agreed, but when someone takes those notes from the church door and fabricates something that's incorrect from them that can damage your reputation, then you have some redress. Truth & accuracy should be the very least of our expectations, that should be a built in from day one

OpenAI will not release details of the training dataset it's used, probably because they don't want bills arriving by post or they don't want IP plagiarism lawsuits for all the websites they ripped off, however it appears that Meta & Google have been quite happy to use Breitbart, Russia Today, Stormfront, Kiwi Farms & 4chan as sources of training data

Dear ChatGPT, What are The Builders in the Dark Mod?

The Builders is a popular game mode in the video game community called "Dark Mod," which is a fan-made tribute to the classic "Thief" series of stealth games. In this game mode, players assume the role of builders who construct structures in a dark and ominous environment while trying to avoid detection by patrolling guards.

The Builders game mode is unique in that it offers players the opportunity to create and design their own levels using the in-game tools and resources provided. Players can experiment with different building materials, construct intricate traps and puzzles, and create their own unique gameplay experiences.

While The Builders game mode is not an official part of the Dark Mod, it has become one of the most popular and well-loved aspects of the game, thanks to its emphasis on creativity, strategy, and stealth.

ChatGPT spouting bullshit here, which is now available on the internet for anyone to read

Anyone reading that who has no experience of TDM will think that's something TDM does because ChatGPT told them it does, they may install TDM purely because of this

They could then be disappointed in TDM rather being disappointed in ChatGPT when they fail to find this functionality after installing TDM, thus causing harm to TDM's reputation

If they go to the forum and ask they'll be told the functionality doesn't exist and never did, but they've actually got to go to the forum of a game they've just rage quit to find that out, instead of taking to Farcebook or Twatter and crapping all over the reputation of a talented bunch of people who've worked extremely hard on this project for over a decade

ChatGPT has obviously trained on data from the TDM website among many others, but instead of pointing people at the website or simply stating that the requested information does not exist, it made up some plausible bullshit that fits it's training data and now it's done that it will defend it to the hilt, it will never admit this is wrong or that it made this up

ChatGPT is being built to make a profit for OpenAI

Did OpenAI contact the site admin to ask for permission to use the TDM website in this way ?

Has OpenAI made any financial contribution to TDM for using it's data to train a neural network they hope will earn OpenAI billions ?

How does TDM get the bullshit spouted by ChatGPT corrected before it harms TDM's reputation  ?

  7. ChatGPT is a digital parrot** that takes our own words & designs mashes them up & hands the result back to us as something original, it isn't

It tells lies, when called on it's lies, it doubles down creating spurious links to back up it's bullshit, the links it makes are fragments of other links bolted together because that looks like the links in the data it's been trained on

It is not AI it's a large language model neural network, it has no understanding of what it says because it hasn't got the capacity to understand, it's output is a statistical best fit to it's training data

It's output looks like natural language because that's what it's been trained on, some people think this means it's intelligent

You ask it for "A couple of paragraphs about the band Pink Floyd", it will mash up some words about "the band Pink Floyd", some of it will be accurate, it won't tell you anything that hasn't already been published & it could cheerfully tell you that they went down with the Titanic because it's training data mentioned "The band played on" & that was in the question

ChatGPT and all LLM's need to die in a fucking fire before some moron decides to use one to make decisions that affect real people

**Apologies to parrots everywhere they have intelligence, unlike LLM's

  8. Another question which I'd completely forgotten about

In the bookstore tower near the beggar

    Spoiler

There's a broken mirror on the top floor

    Spoiler

As you look at the mirror, behind the mirror, down near the floor & to the left there was something on/in the wall that frobs does anyone know what this is or what it's for  ?

Oh and if you really want to go back

    Spoiler

The mirror still works as a portal to/from the other place

Congrats, a great Mission. I played it today for some time, but I think It will take me several hours to finish. Tomorrow more.

PS I fount a little switch above the lift in Lady Lancesters Room, I use it, but until now I dont find anything for what it is. I'll try also putting the candles with the same height in the secret room. Thanks for the tip.

    @Zerg Rush

The little switch over the lift

    Spoiler

It sends the lift to the ground floor, it's because you can call the lift & jump on top of it, if you do that on the top floor you get stuck in a small space with no exit so the switch lets you escape without noclipping
