  1. I thought there already was invisible ink.. here's why.
  2. This is another one of those moments where I hit myself in the head and go, " DOH! I could have had a V8." Thanks !
  3. Yeppers.. that's old news and dead dead dead. But.. there are really good SS2 enhancement mods out there. Someone even took the best of them and put them all together and made a super mod collection. You can find the info here: http://www.gnomeslair.com/2007/03/system-shock-2-2k7.html Recreating the exact game on a newer but more importantly someone elses engine was a No No.. that dev team should have known better. They would have been o.k. if they made a clone and called it something else. It's a pity they didn't do that and continue the work.
  4. I could use a hint for the Citywatch. It's the last thing I have to do before ending the mission. Can't find a key and it don't wanna pick.
  5. Loving it !! On Mission 2 now. I think I picked a good one to de-virginize me. Btw, that sniffing glue remark was a famous line from one of the greatest comedy movies ever - Airplane! I don't really sniff glue. Check the system specs thread, I can even play this on my laptop :-)
  6. I tested this on both my machines a laptop and a desktop. Laptop - Compaq CQ61-411WM - Tested Mission 1 of No Honor Among thieves. Windows 7 64 bit - Home Premium AMD Simpron II M120, 2.1 GHZ - Single Core 4 gigabytes DDR2 system ram ATI Mobility 4200 HD on board integrated graphics chip, with 128 MB of dedicated DDR2 ram with up to 1 gig shared. Doom 3 and TDM are installed using default settings. (medium) I have not run a benchmark test or any FPS utility but the game plays smooth with no glitches or slowdowns. Since Doom 3 is an older game and most older games of that era I can play on High settings. I didn't test this with higher settings but I bet it would do fine. ( I love this laptop.. it even playes Crysis, Borderlands, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl , FarCry, Prey, Half Life 2, and others all on medium settings or higher. - Proof a cheap 350.00 dollar laptop from Wal-Mart can be a great gaming machine ! ) Just a footnote: I didn't install this on my laptop the regular way. I made a portable standalone version from my desktop installation and just dropped the folder into my program files folder for the laptop. This way, I could have the game with Mods and Missions pre-installed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Desktop - ACT Technologies ( local company ) Windows 7 64 bit - Ultimate Pentium 4 (Cedar Mills) with hyperthreading @ 3.00 GHZ - Single Core 4 gigabytes DDR2 system ram ATI 5750 HD with 1 gigabyte DDR5 ram On this I can play on all high settings for Doom 3 and TDM, but If I know I will be doing a lot of multitasking I turn the settings down to medium just as a precaution, though I have not have any problems so far.
  7. I just finished my first TMD mission - Mission 1 of No Honor Among Thieves and I absolutely loved it. I played it on easy to get used to the feel of the mod. I have a couple of problems however. I don't like music in stealth games. I believe it takes away from my concentration. I notice there is no music slider as such, but the Ambient Sound Slider seems to control this. If I turn down the slider, the music goes away once I'm back in the game.. But the music will pop back on now and then.. To fix this, I have to go and turn the Ambient Sound slider up again then turn it back down, then return to the game. I have to do this over and over. Is there another way to disable music entirely? On starting the Mod sometimes I have to click on the launcher twice before it loads. The first time, I do see the Win 7 animated circle, (working/thinking Icon) and then nothing. If I then click the launcher again, the game loads fine. What is going on here? I'm using Win 7 64 bit with 4 gigabytes of ram and an ATI 5750 1 gig ddr5 video card. Thanks !
  8. Er.. Don't tell me you need these "things" to go up the shaft cus that's where I am and I haven't got any.. they were not part of my default loadout equipment. EDIT: Nevermind. I am officially the TDM Forum Idiot. I expected to see weapons in the inventory area.. never once did I think to hit the number keys.. I have been playing this whole time wondering when I was gonna find a weapon. LOL.. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
  9. Thanks but I'm still missing something..After re-reading the only note I found.. in the caves with the spiders, I searched all the skeletons I found in every accessible area of the cell block.. and on the other side of the pit .. only place I can't search is the zombie pit itself. I did not find the Key. BTW.. this is my first time playing TDM.. someone in this thread mentioned arrows.. can I obtain arrows in the 1st mission?.. Does TDM have a screen to purchase items at the beginning that perhaps I missed? Wait.. before anyone answers.. I will look again.. There are the two doors that i cannot access across from the pit, but I can't figure a way to reach them.. thought I could extend a mattress onto the overhanging door or something but I can't pick them up. EDIT: I found it.. LOL.. Gee..I just wasn't looking good enough though I could swear I looked right there several times. Thanks folks. I know better than that
  10. Grrrr please help i'm stuck. In the 1st mission i'm at the prison under the church. at first i thought I could pick the cells but after using both lockpicks on the first door you come to, 1 half way then the next half way, it just clicks.. doesn't pick further. Now all the doors just click and not let me try to pick them. So I ignored that and went for the cells by the Zombie Pit. Jumped from cell to cell looking for a key or other passage and find nothing. Fell in Zombie Pit a few times. The Zombies tell me I taste like chicken. If those doors are supposed to be pickable and it's causing me to miss something important, then i'm sunk. if not.. could someone point me in the right direction? .. Don't tell just hint. Thanks!
  11. About the main character. Since there can be tons of FM's, I would love to see great diversity in the main characters personalities. That would make things more interesting.
  12. Thanks a lot for the answer clearing up that mystery. I will be sure to try them all.
  13. Thanks a lot for the quick reply and info. I just played the training mission and Boy I have to say, I'm super impressed. You guys managed to bring back some of the feeling of Thief 1 and 2 that was missing in 3 and brought in a lot of 3's features. A very good mix Eidos failed to pull off when they made 3. ( I can't say I was unhappy with 3 by any means though) I'll play through the Honor series first then move to Thief's Den. I can understand you not having time to make a full game - I just wanted to hear that that is as I suspected from the horses mouth. I didn't make one cus a) I just found out about this Mod.. searching for thief mods as I just decided to replay all 3 again because they work on my laptop.. Doom 3 does too.. and cus I'd be horrible at it.. I'm just a gamer, not a programmer.. tried to learn some coding for use with the Unity 2.5 engine.. That wasn't pretty, and of course I have played with FPS Creator - learned a little visual basic with MS Visual Studio, but the C & C++ and C squared to the second power, scares the heck out of me. Besides.. if I know whats gonna happen, it spoils it for me. (grin) I am greatful for the time and work all of you contributing folk have put into this. I will enjoy the fruits of your labors very much to hold me over till Eidos gets it's rear in gear and spits out Thief 4.
  14. Hi. I'm New.. Love Thief, so I thought I would try out some missions for this cool mod. I'm posting here cus there doesn't seen to be a 'general forum' for such topics.\ I'm looking at the new Thief's den Mission page, and it says there are 3 missions out including this one. . I do see they are working on a 4th mission that's in testing. On the fan mission list wiki, (here http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Fan_Missions_for_The_Dark_Mod) I only see two missions listed for the Thief's Den. Where is the missing mission? Why did the people who made these tools choose not to make a game/full set of missions, for the mod itself? I see there are 2 groups who have released missions in a Series. Thief's Den, GCC 09 and the one from No Honor Among thieves, has a campaign of 4 missions.,, Which of these approximates a more complete game? I see in the wiki list GCC has the most released, but there is no indication if your supposed to play 1 first, then another in sequence, or are they all standalone missions? Has no one endevered to make a full game yet? I am looking forward to trying all of these missions, but I would like to play the ones that make up a story/game first before I play the single missions that are off by themselves. Perhaps those in the know may edit the wiki to reflect this info. I look forward to your answers. Happy Thieving.
