  1. Ah, ok, I don't found it before, searching with the old Title "Yan's test.pk4". I think it won't be a bad idea to use it at keast as base of a mision, maybe changing somewhat the map if there are copyright problems because of the Quake map. Quite old and still not released in the oficial TDM List, I thought that it was an abandoned (test) Mision.

  2. Yan's test are not in the mission list in the Wiki you mencioned, as I can remember I downloaded it from ModDB (not longer there). I mencioned it, because I thought that is only a Test Mision, as is not publicable, maybe because of the Copyright of the Quake4 map. But I also thought that, despite to this, with some mapchanges can be a nice little mision. But sorry, I'm silent now.

  3. Some time ago I downloaded an old mission, called Yan's Test. By the name and content I think it was an intent to use a Quake Arena Map in a Mission. The mission is full playable without big bugs, but naturally requires some improvements, not so bad at all.

It's made by Yan Ostresov and Bikerdude

The interesting question is.. How much effort does one need to put into them to make them work ingame in terms of performance, detail and animation.

I think it will be the same as with ready made assets and textures, the only diference is that are you which create it with the help of AI, describe the texture or asset you need and the AI creates it.

Anyway you can take a look to other tools you may need among over 3000 existing AI tools. There is life outside of GPT 4

If only the forum software was more mobile friendly..

Of course, it is one of the reasons for the decline of online forums, since the advent of mobile phones. Forums on a mobile are a pain in the ass, but on the other hand, for certain things there are no real alternatives to forums, social networks cannot be with their sequential threads, where it is almost impossible to retrieve answers to a question that is asked. has done days ago.
For devs for internal communication, the only thing offered is a collaborative app, such as System D (not to be confused with systemd). FOSS, free and anonymous registration, access further members only by invitation, full encrypted and private.

The next-gen "search engine AI" could be very similar to the "toy" ChatGPT, just with an added component that forces it to take into account manually curated facts that are related to the topic. That or maybe we need strong AI to make that particular application usable without being a hallucination free-for-all.

A search engine with the linguistic capabilities of ChatGPT can of course be useful, but a language model like ChatGPT without access to real-time information, no matter how good the language model is, is nothing more than a toy, can serve as an assistant or customer support for certain products with the necessary knowledge base of this product, but no more.

Today, the information from search engines with AI is infinitely more reliable than that from AI chats, especially if they are not from large monopolies that may reflect certain commercial and/or political interests in their responses, as has already been experienced in Google, MS and also BraveAI, the latter with strong influences from the extreme right and whose CEO was already fired from Mozilla for this.

    Better the independent AI

    You can try right now

    https://andisearch.com (My favorite)

https://www.perplexity.ai (also as usefull Browser extension)

https://phind.com (specially for devs and programmers)

    https://you.com (the most complete)

  8. First of all, ChatGPT , independent of the version, is a language model to be able to interact with the user, imitating being intelligent. It has a knowledge base that dates back to 2021 and adds what users contribute in their chats. This means, first of all, that it is not valid if you are looking for correct answers, since if it does not find the answer in its base, it has a tendency to invent it with approximations or directly with false or obsolete answers.
With this, the future will not change, it will occur with AI of a different nature, on the one hand with search engines with AI, since they have access to information in real time, without needing such complex language models and for this reason, they will gradually search engines are going to add AI, not only Bing or Google, but before these there was Andisearch, like the first of all, Perplexity.ai, Phind.com and You.com. Soon there will also be DuckDuckGoAI.

On the other hand, generative AI to create images videos and even aplications, music and other, like game assets or 3D models.,

The risk with AI came up with Auto GPT, initially a tool that seemed useful, but it can be highly dangerous, since on the one hand it has full access to the network and on the other hand it is capable of learning on its own initiative to carry out tasks that are introduced as if it were a Text2Image app out there, what was demonstrated with ChaosGPT, the result of an order introduced in Auto GPT to destroy humanity, which it immediately began to develop with extraordinary efficiency, first trying to access the missile silos nuclear weapons and to fail, luckily, trying to get followers on Twitter with a fake account that he created and where he got more than 6000 followers, hiding later, realizing the danger that can be blocked or deactivated on the network. Currently nothing is known about it, but it is still a danger not exactly to be ruled out, it can really become Skynet.

AI is going to change the future, but not ChatGPT which isnt more than a nice toy.

  9. Crafting tools isn't a bad idea, I remember misions where I use a knife to escape a prison, a crowbar instead of lockpicks, a saw to open a cellar, a wrench to open a floodgate...things like these are in several misions.  This can be extended to use one or more objects to improvise a tool

There's a third type - people who expect this behaviour and yet still don't care. I'm probably in this group because well, it is typical Microsoft behaviour (which is unfortunately quite common among other tech companies these days), but I don't use Edge so I'm mostly unaffected.

I should note that while I do primarily use Firefox, I occasionally use Edge to check on a site if I think Firefox is having issues with it or for comparison. But after doing this, I always need to remember to delete the Edge tray icon/desktop search app from loading on startup, which adds an autostart entry every time Edge is launched if not already present. It's insidious and really wants to dominate the entire OS if it can. Which is a shame because I generally like Windows as an OS because the framework is pretty damn solid - it's all this shit Microsoft lays on top that ruins the experience.

If you want to use Bing Chat you can do it only using EDGE..and now also using Vivaldi, which disguised itself as EDGE if you go to Bing Chat. Another middlefinger from Vivaldi to discriminatory big company behavior

  11. I've been enjoying TDM for a few years now, precisely because there isn't a certain style of playing it depending on the missions, which are very different from each other with different objectives. It is not a certain style with more or less strategy, as is usual in normal FPS, which in broad strokes are limited to getting from point A to point B and killing everything that moves in between.
It is this variety with great replayability,  without getting boring that makes TDM special. Covering practically all genres of video games, from Tetris to survival horror there is everything, stealth is only one of these and not even necessary in some missions

Which one? A Machine for Pigs? It's unfortunately the weakest part of the series (pretty dumbed down gameplay and incomprehensible story), and, it also wasn't developed by the original developer which developed The Dark Descent, Rebirth, and, now, The Bunker.

The also did Penumbra, which is really great (seriously, I highly recommend that if you like Amnesia), and SOMA.

I don't know the others in the Amnesia series and I can't judge if it's the weakest. The plot is certainly a bit confusing, though for the game itself it didn't bother me too much. I didn't dislike it and due to the atmosphere and gameplay it wasn't that bad and if it's also free you can't complain. The Penumbra series if I have played it in the past and it is certainly quite a classic.

  13. Yesterday and today I played Amnesia for a while. It gave me a lot of TDM vibes for the atmosphere and plot in a total Steampunk world. A lot of stealth in the second half of the game because of some pretty nasty AI. Good puzzles. I can even imagine it as an inspiration for some future mission. Recommended game

  14. I found this free AI tool, which maybe is usefull for you. Wonder Studio is an AI tool that automatically animates, lights, and composes CG characters into a live-action scene. It takes single-camera footage and detects the actor's performance, transferring it to the CG character with automated animation, lighting, and composition. It also allows for multiple characters to be used, and has an artist community with free characters (or use own). It is designed to make hard VFX shots a thing of the past.
