  1. Awesome! How difficult is it to stretch or modify the basic model? I'd like to have a thicker, tome-like book, as well as a few different skins. Do you feel like doing a few more? I have some reference pics I can send you if so.
  2. Sparhawk would really like to get the lightgem into the game so he can begin coding it. Now that we have the model, can I get someone to volunteer to UV map and/or skin it? I don't think the skin needs to be very complex...it almost looks good enough without one, frankly.
  3. Good idea. Looks cool. I guess that we won't see this particular model anymore, but we can still use it on our public pages as well.
  4. It will not be rendered if it is not skinned. It's not like in the modelling app that you can leave the default shading if it suits you. The model will just be pitch black if you import it just like this. The reason being because the modelling apps usually have a default shader applied which gives this grey look, but there is no such thing in D3.
  5. I've got some serious problems to resize the table in blender - when I make it bigger parts of the model dissappear in the 3d-view and it doesn't look any bigger in the modelviewer
  6. I'll dowload the model and try to skin it, but I can't promise anything...
  7. I wonder what the nobel man's status is. I just noticed that alan9000 was looking at the boards and I think he was the one doing the model, right? So a posting would be nice to get some feedback. Even if it is only "Sorry I don't intend to do anything more."
  8. don't worry guys i am still here ..I have been away for a little while dealing with my freelance work ..it came up unexpectedly..I should have dropped you a line but I didn’t expect to be away for a few days. As an update the noble man model is being detailed in zbrush at the moment so I can generate the normal map. I will try to get an update up at the end of the week as I have to be away a couple of days this week again. I am still very enthusiastic about the project and should be able to spend a lot more time on it week commencing the 29 th ..perhaps that week should see it complete. Were do I upload assets ?
  9. LOL - but to be be honest I had the same thought. It looks really a bit like darth maul...maybe also because of the mouth (I'll try if I can change the mouth of the model a bit) I hope the UV-maps of our models wont be so streched and NOT mirrored !! Do you like the skin of the torso and the legs, or shall I change it ? It'd be great if Renz could send me his cryptmap, to test how it looks and feels ingame...
  10. Yes, that is a definite possibility. The gem portion is physically separate in the model so it would be easy to break that out.
  11. I'm downloading it now. Even if it's too difficult for me to learn to model from scratch (as I have zero experience with that), I might be able to do something with the character template.
  12. Hmm, some bones showing through would be nice anywhere that the model is thin enough (like the chest, etc). I think he should have skin most places though, just very rotted. Almost mummy-like. edit: when you get a chance, could you upload the head dds to the ftp site? I'd like to compare the before and after to see what you did.
  13. haven't seen this model ingame too - I found him in the editor. He's called zombie_boney or something like this. What kind of body would you prefer ? More boney (so that you can see the white bones) or with rotten skin ? Maybe a open rib-cage ?
  14. Looks DAMN good BT! I say it's definitely scarier than the original. Looks like it's been rotting in the ground for a long time. Edit: BTW, is this a naked zombie? I don't remember any in the game, but he doesn't appear to have any clothes on...wait, is this the model for the children of hell? If so, good choice!
  15. Last night after I read the "modelling crisis"-thread I thought about, how to get some models done faster. So I looked for some original D3 models, which we could use with only a few tweaks and of course new skins. For example the boney-zombie (that's the one without clothes). It looks already similar to the original T1 zombies - we would just need a new skin for him. Then the fat-zombie - you remember the fat cook in the first T3 level ? I think the zombie-model would be already great for a fat civilian (like a cook). All we'd need to do is adding shoes and a new skin/normal map. This way we'd already have 2 AIs. After that we could tweak the fat zombie again and make for example a fat aristocrat (?). (of course we'd need new animations for the civilians) What do you think ?
  16. Looks very cool to me. Is that the actual model? <laugh> Looks like the body is mirrored also...he appears to have stigmata. That's a pain in the ass, especially for zombies, who need lots of mucking up.
  17. I was thinking last night about the most effective way to get some of our models into the game for testing purposes. Then I remembered that our plan was to use some of the zombies already present in the game (since the model and animation are already done) with modified textures. I've also been looking for ways to try my hand at skinning. So in a brilliant flash of synthesis, I thought I would try my hand at creating custom skins for one of the zombies. Since I'll be modifying something that is already created, it won't stretch my limited skills as much, and we should be able to use it fairly easily in our mod tests once I'm done. However, I need someone's help, because I have absolutely no idea where to look for the relevant files. I need the UV map, the texture map at a minimum...I can make my own normal and specular (if they even use that). Can anyone tell me where to find those files? I'm thinking of the thin zombie with pants and no shirt (although the fat one will do in a pinch).
  18. This isn't an accusation thread, so don't worry Deep Omega. You've obviously had your hands full and that's fine. But, this combined with other abscence and people actually just disappearing or not being active, has meant a real decrease in productivity. A message from someone asking to be excused for a few days/weeks/months even isn't too much to ask, and it saves us the position of just not knowing where they've gone or if they're still onboard. What would help, in the future, is to UPLOAD EVERY VERSION OF A MODEL TO THE FTP, OR CVS. That way work can continue in another's hands.
  19. Whew. Hey everybody. Here's what's up. Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to set up a new computer - dual processor workstation, basically, since this guy is coming to its knees over the thief model. A 1.5 GHz box with onl 512 megs of RAM won't cut it anymore. So last night, I finally got all the parts to the new computer. Put it together. Aaaaand... nothing. Wouldn't post. No warning beeps. I've ordered a new power supply, as the one I have may not be enough, but now I'm suspicious that it may be my motherboard, in which case I'll have to get that replaced by Buy.com. This, combined with school work, has kept me drowning for a while now. Now, if the power supply works, I'll be all set on monday - but this is looking less and less likely. Expect a week or two to get the new mobo if that's necessary. I'm really sorry about all of this - but believe me, I'm no happier about it than all of you. I'm going to try to compile everything I've done to date into a handy dandy package (normal maps and so forth plus models for the lamp and the coins, as well as the models of the arrows) and upload them soon. For those interested, however, this is why this whole ordeal is worth it: ASUS NCCH-DL motherboard - dual Xeon capable, 800 MHz FSB, 4 USB 2.0, AGPx8, 2 PCI-X, 2 PCI, board-native optical audio out and game controller. One Xeon 2.8 GHz 800 MHz FSB to start, with another later on when I can afford it. 1 GB Kingston PC2700 RAM 512 MB Kingston PC2100 RAM GeForce 5950 Ultra FX 256MB ...So as I said. This is WORTH IT. Doubling my processor speed with an option to redouble it later, tripling my RAM, getting a waaay fatter FSB... yeah. So wish me luck, friends!
  20. I don't know what to do about the other problems, but I think we can avoid at least the model issue next time. Every stuff should go into CVS. Most programs support ASCII formats and this is what we should put in CVS. The textures and soundfiles can stay on the FTP server, as my machine and upload bandwidth is not exactly fast, but everything else should go into CVS. I think this is a better thing to do anway. And with everything I mean EVERYTHING. This includes material, def, map and any othe file that we need. As it is, already I have to change stuff that Renzatics also works on and there are already chances that we overwrite each others changes (custom.mtr for example).
  21. I was just thinking I could supply anyone who wants it with a male and female template, they're anatomically correct, and just have to be pushed , squashed, resized, tweaked etc. Of course it doesn't make it any easier, and it isn't cheating, you still have all the modeling to do on top of it, but it does give you something perfect to build the armour/clothing around, and saves the time modeling hands and feet and a new head for every character.. I use them as a base for all my characters, even monsters. I was just thinking that it may halp some people wo want to model but aren't confident enough to start a character from scratch. I'l post shots of them later.
  22. UnDead

    Modelar

jap i'm interested all i need is concept art. But problem is that i don't have any doom 3 plugins and i don't know how to import models ingame so if it possible i could just model it and someone else should put it ingame,ok?
  23. UnDead

    Modelar

I could help with weapon modeling,i have no portfolio, but you can send me some things you want me to model to see am i good or not.
  24. Here is another quick update...I have added a little extra detail. I have made the shoulder 'things' larger springheal. I am planning on taking the model into zbrush to add extra detail and creating a normal map from there …has anyone done this ..if so what were the results ?
  25. So do I. I don't think the female model is realistic for an adult woman. The hips especially look prepubescent. Overall, it looks like a very young teen to me.
