  1. Holy crap that looks good. Everything, the textures, the shadows, and the model. I'm really, really starting(?) to believe something is wrong over here, because I don't see JACK of all that. And I still have solid black models. *tumbleweeds*
  2. The normal mapper UI plugin should come with an NMF export option. Select your model, then File->Export and select NMF. Whee!
  3. Done the model (ASE, plus a Diffuse and Spec map), but the ftp isn't being nice. Here's a screenshot with the 3DS renderer. Will try the ftp again later.
  4. dear Team , my goodness..look at the chest....Goddamn it..! GRRRRRR .. I have a PAIN in my CHEST because of THAT CHEST...ThAT chest should be MINE...MINE ....MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAHAHAHHAH MINEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I have to find a way...a way to steal that chest from oDDity but HOW ? how?...mmmm think ...think....i gotta model that....mineeeeeee mineeeeeeechest ...my chesstt......goddddddammnit.. kidding... You can write my name whatever you want,Springheel... I mean really i dont wanna choose..I m volunteer for every modelling...And im just waiting for Mapping and importing tutorial from oDDity .."THE CHEST ( PAIN ) MAKER"!!! best.....no CHEST!!!!!
  5. I was thinking of making a video tutorial of me modeling the latest character I'm going to do - the house guard that springhel posted ysterday. I know some of you have got hold of Lightwave recntly, and maybe I can convert some more of you when I show how easy it is to knock up a character using the male model template I provided (on the FTP) I'm going to use camtasia to shoot the video, so I can also make pop up tool tips to describe all the steps. And I'll show how the normal maps are done and the importing into doom. Good idea, or a fucking waste of time?
  6. oDDity

We could keep that for the LSD special edition of the mod. I actually quarted that model before Uv mapping it, since you wanted as as much space for each UV as possible, it messes the normal map up in places by overlapping UVs but it's a trade. You can certainly make the parts with the white alpha invisible, (that's usualy how it's used) I'm not so sure how you use the alpha to apply a glass shader though.
  7. Lol, there is no lightwave watermark, and there is zero chance of getting into trouble even if we were all using warez version of whatever software we have. It's not like this is a commercial project, and who's going to be looking at our files besides us anyway. Use deep exploration for converting model formats. THere's a free trial on offer, so you don't have to steal it. XSI, Maya and max all have free version specifically for game modders to use, Lightwave is little behind the times, but I'm sure it won't be long before they do the same. Lightwave free version is shit ATM, you're only allowed a few hundred vertices in a layer:/
  8. here it is TEXTURED ! THE NEON DESK! nah, just kidding. I just had to look, which parts of oddity's UV map belong to which part of the model
  9. Well, other than the fact that it's a spread eagle, it doesn't look much like the T3 version. There are dozens of different cultures that used a similar insignia, so it's not like it's copyright or anything. Still, the guards in T1/2 had NO insignia, as far as I know, so if someone wants to come up with something better, be my guest. The helmet on your model above is very similar to the one I had in mind for professional guards, so maybe we can save it for that.
  10. dear ElusiveOutlaw Welcome to Darkest MOD...Somehow im putting my nose everywhere but im newbee too.. YOu are gonna model your GRANDMOTHER too...without using template!!! -But mom!!............goddamn it.....
  11. well I scale all my models using the D3 player model to make the proportions right
  12. There are some things that I would definitely like to see frobbable. chests (obviously) Wardrobes (although does that mean we have to model clothes?) (would be cool to have a secret door in the back of these) Desk drawers (but please, only 1 main drawer per desk please, could be tedious otherwise)
  13. Just to prove to spar, it doesn't matter what you do with models, as long as they are triangles doom will accept it. Here's half the belcher model I thew in ((to textures yet) just to show you.
  14. Hehe, it's not a problem, just turn the image around on it's side with the frame along the top or bottom and you've got you're landsacpe version) It'll still fit the model just fine.
  15. I made the skin for the broadhead. However the model is a bit too big ingame and it'd be great if DO could make a UV map with a bigger wood-part. the wood turns out a bit blurry ingame, because it's stretched too much...
  16. maybe you have to export it as a md5. they can have several material shaders per model.
  17. Maybe we can have a shot with a character model to see it's size in relation.
  18. Dear Springheel give me a 5 minutes..Let me model this black jack...from your beatiful painting. I agree with blackthief your version is so much cool looking..and those little taily stuff is so cool... best.. (5 min only)
  19. dear Sparhawk! Thanks for the historical info about black jack...Im visualizing so much better than earlier...Im even visualizing that slavegirls.....mmm yes... May be i should...model...that slavegirl..........oh...sorry what im saying "Hey slavegirl...my name is JACK....BLACKJACK.. what s yours?" best
  20. It's curved because a blackjack is a sock. It doesn't have any stiffness to it. Technically, it should not be standing straight up like the other Thief games, where it looked like a wooden club. I'd love to have it look like a genuine pouch full of lead, hanging limply, but that might be hard to model. Something with at least a little bit of a bend to it, like below, would be ok.
  21. I think the size is ok. From what I remember when I was shooting a bow the flights were not THAT large and yours seem to be about the size I remember. Though that was quite some time ago, so my memory could be wrong. I know. I didn't mean that it was wrong, just wanted to comment on which style this bow is. We can use this in the game. Why not? But I think for the archer guards we should use something more like an english longbow but not as big. I don't think that they would use this type of bow on guards. Still it looks great as props anyway. I never knew that there were so many different types of arrows. Of course in the game we shouldn't do that, at least not for the player, because it would be a pain to differentiate all these arrows and it wouldn't make sense for the game. And somehow I doubt that the players would know which arrow to choose on which target. This one is quite good. We can use it as our broadhead model. Yeah. Could be. Never heard of this before.
  22. dear oDDity and Sparhawk actually i was checking the almost every arrow image in the google search..There are hundreds of arrows with different structure.especially old days ...I can make it bigger. I was trying to make something in the middle bu sure i can make them bigger and i made that bow yes little bit eastern style. Yes you can call it horsebow but i have seen in many ancient paintings that they were also using this kind of bow too in some tribes in europe...But not that much common.. But im not saying we should use them as a weapon in the game. I was even thinking to put this bow in somekind of merchant's house.. as a prop....Or a guard's room as a war memory item..you know.. Because in the game we should use more gothic bow for our animated characters. But i think i ll be modelling little bit more detail on that one.... And i think we should model different arrows for each fraction what do you think? Cuz as far as i learned archers are totally insane with the style of their bows and arrows.. So i think it would be nice to see all kinds of different bows around.. and the type of arrows. The spikey one for cutting strings ropes. In many sea wars and other circumstances archers were using it to cut strings ropes.. We can even use it i n the game..think about this level .our Thief should rescue someone from execution. I mean he has to make a perfect shot with this arrow in order to cut the rope...So that arrow is in some merchant's house.so this can be a side mission.....i mean im just giving an idea..dont turn red! instantly! You see firearrow below.. And normal arrow for lightshields. And the last one (the bottom) is especially for horses and very heavy armour. I was checking the size of the body structure somehow all of them was same. Just the tops are different. Probably in battle they were using different ones for different section of enemy armies.. best...
  23. THat's excellent, not copying thief in the slightest either. Its put me in the mood to model.....just like that hammer priest picture did. How about a text description of what his various attire is made of. Just one thing - no head gear?
  24. Are the final model and extures on the FTP, if so I'll get it in the game no problem.
  25. Don't you need to have a seperate model as well then?
