I Cannot DL 1.04

Vuze shouts

"Connection Error (IOException:Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://www.systemshock.org/torrents/announce.php?info_hash=a%94c%25%D0%EDFP%21%18%9D%22qw%14%27YK%27%B3&peer_id=-AZ4208-VTgHJnxEgZFK&supportcrypto=1&port=13707&azudp=49000&azhttp=8080&uploaded=0&downloaded=0&left=2076768910&corrupt=0&event=started&numwant=100&no_peer_id=1&compact=1&key=1Li1LQoj&azver=3)"

Is the problem with me ?

Last DM versions torrented fine, though.

Please help.

Edit

Oh, and the problem persists for about a week now, not going away.

Other torrents tested work fine on my side.

Well it's getting a 403 (Forbidden). So for some reason the tracker doesnt like you.

There's a huge list of things which could result in that happening. Do you really need to torrent it?

The easiest solution is to just download it with the updater. Vuze is a fairly strange choice for a client these days, so if you feel adventurous, try a different client. Failing that you could try adding some of the bigger trackers to the torrent, like http://tracker.publicbt.com/announce . This should get you a few shared peers hopefully.

Which good torrent client do you suggest Sepentine?

Donno Windows clients very well, I use KTorrent and find it to be very well featured and far less problematic than the alternatives. The libtorrent and its many variants/forks/web interfaces are fine too, a bit too fiddly for my liking and the curses interface is pretty weak if you want it for the bare bones. Deluge is a mystery to me, a lot of people like it... but a lot of people like crap software, I once tried it... It failed because they supplied a crap makefile so I spent some time fixing it, I looked at its code and quickly realized it was complete crap. Vuze/Azu/forks are java... I don't require java for anything and as such dont have it, also quite often banned from trackers for being problematic or patched to avoid uploading... it also eats resources like a beast.

@Outlooker:

Good to hear :)

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
