Envelope Option In Lightwave

I hate it when I accidentally click an "E" (Envelope) button in Lightwave b/c there's no intuitive way to deactivate it. Is there a secret to deactivating this stuipid option once you click it, without having to revert to a previously saved model?

 

For example, on the Surface Editor panel. If you click the "E" next to "Color", you're screwed, imo. You can no longer click the color box to change the color's value. You instead need to into the Envelope area. thisissof*ckingretarded,lol

That is hilarious! I've been stumped twice in the past week or so by this "Shift-clicking" feature. Once with ESIV:Oblivion when trying to drop inventory items, and once with Lightwave. From now on, shift-clicking will be one of the first things I do when I can't figure out a user-interface! :D
