Jpg Editor Images

It just occurred to me that although DDS files can't be used as texture editor images, JPGs could be... What would people think of that? I imagine D3 would be smart enough not to load editor images for the actual game, so it shouldn't slow down loading. Although I doubt they'd save editor memory, they might be able to save us some disk-space (read: quicker download times).

You'd probably save more bandwidth by either not using editor images at all (most "normal" texture don't need them), or using a smaller resolution for the editor image.

 

It may also be the case the DarkRadiant does support DDS editor images, I am not sure.

I've been using editor images to set a reasonable default scale for textures. (without them, you can't just apply a texture and see if it looks good - you have to apply it then scale it down - which makes comparisons and scrolling through a list of textures more of a pain)

 

Yeah, I dislike the way editor images are used to set the default scale. There should be some way of setting the default scale in the MTR, or else using a standard mapping between bitmap size and world size.

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
