After waiting for more than a month now, finally my new monitor arrived. Pretty cool! :)

The nice thing is, that I also have my old CRT, and in direct comparison, this beast is still as sharp as the LCD.

I bought this monitor 1999 on recommendation of a friend, and it was quite a high price at this time, but considering this, it was easily the best buy I have done. :) It's a Nokia 445Xi Plus. my last CRT was done after 6 years and started to blur quite a lot (a Philips), but this one is still working perfect. Only it takes some time not until it heats up. When switched on it's a bit dark for a few minutes.

Since these monitors don't fetch any price, and it's still in such a good condition, I set it up as a dual head display now, with the LCD as my main display. Quite cool! :)

Now I have two 1600x1200 resolution desktop windows when I feel like it. :) I think when I work on the mod, this should come in hand, because I can keep the mod on the main display and the debugger on the other one. Have to test this though.

Well, I can definitely recommend this LCD if somebody is looking for a new one. :)

Yeah, I recently switched to a Dell 24" widescreen LCD monitor. Compared to my old 17" CRT, it's like sitting in the cinema.

Native resolution is 1900x1200.

They certainly are worth getting - as long as you get a good one.

Why did it take a month to arrive?

Because I was looking for one which has all the features that I wanted and for a good price. I found this one, but it wasn't available anywhere, and when I looked, all the other were much more expensive, with similari features. So I ordered it because it was a real bargain. The price has gone up for at least 30 or 40 Euro in the meantime. Since I still had my CRT in good condition, there was really no hurry for me to get a new one. One of the major points was that it takes so much space on the desk, and that it is already quite old, so I would rather buy one, while I still have a choice, instead of waiting until the other one breaks and I need one fast. :)

As for the CRT, my old one is also 20 inch, and compared to the LCD, it seems to be bigger. So it actually feels a bit as if I were switching back to a smaller one. :) But when I compare the actual dimension, without the case, then both are the same. It's just the casing, that makes the CRT appear much bigger. I haven't used a 17" since ages. At least not at home. ;)

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
