  1. I look forward to oDDity's campaign , which should include, so far, a) having to operate each limb of the thief independently, b ) sticky liquid arrows that go squelch, c) naked pagans, d) female sorcerors who look like bride of frankenstein rejects, e) a thief called 'Farell', f) 'xombies' made of shit that fire heat seeking skulls, g) a rule that makes it impossible to blackjack more than 3 guards, h) a new loot system where you have to spend half an hour 'appraising' everything, i.e. Sim Museum Curator, i) no broadheads in the game. It should be interesting, at least.
  2. In one thread you argue against a drug-addled hippy and in the next you call on the king of all hippies to support your argument? LOL, why would government officials want to promote the idea of global warming? They have everything to gain from continuing to pump crap into the atmosphere. The only reason they're reacting now is that they've realised global warming could cost them money. Clear as the shit you're talking. It's about as far from a 'fact' as anything can be, and it's very telling that you're putting all your faith in some crappy Channel 4 documentary. I did enjoy their documentary about the Loch Ness Monster and the Fake Moon Landing, but I don't think we were supposed to take those seriously either. Anyway, this is a pointless argument, because our opinions aren't exactly going to stop the earth from getting hotter if it wants to. I suppose we'll find out in the year 2050 or so. Since you're such a fan of ethnic minorities, I hope you're particularly displeased when they all move to Ireland because the rest of Europe is an arid desert.
  3. This documentary has been widely discredited since its release, and one scientist who took part, Carl Wunsch, has complained that they just cut up his interview to make it look like he disagreed with the global warming theory. Channel 4 loves creating controversy, and that's just what this is. 2,500 scientists from 30 countries agreed in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, published just last month, that there was a 90% change that humans caused climate change. That's enough reason to be taking it seriously.
  4. I'm not sure what the Thief community, namely the TTLG forum, has done to derserve such support. I'd rather think most of the team members were working on this mod to create something they enjoy playing, rather than doing volunteer work for an insane asylum. My hope is of course that when the basic foundations are in place people will take the basic thief game, and the stealth genre, in directions they couldn't with the Dark Engine. I'd be disappointed if DM just ended up a prettier version of Thief.
  5. I totally agree with oDDity that some people are better than others at creating functioning civilisations. That's why many African countries are working democracies while Northern Ireland is run by a pack of religious terrorists who can't form a government.
  6. I haven't played many games recently, but here are some I enjoyed at the time they came out, from the last ten years or so. 1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess I got this last week and it's the best Zelda game yet, and so probably the best game full stop. 2. Day of the Tentacle Utter classic. Also taught me a lot of English. 3. Super Mario 64 First 3D game I played. Ah, memories, nostalgia of youth, etc. 4. Warioware Inc 4 controllers, 4 college students, 0 to do. 5. Little Big Adventure Zany French game. Might be crap if I played it again now but I loved it at the time. Obviously I'm not much bothered by anything that tries to emulate reality too closely. I like the whole universe of Thief but I'm not sure the individual games would get in on their own merit, they're more extensions of things I already liked (celtic mythology, steam technology).
  7. Was I the only one slightly angry when reading the Book of Revelation? They could have used spoiler tags! However, there's a simple way to disprove the rapture. The Bible says the rapture will come to Earth like a thief in the night - but it's only night on half the Earth at any given time! So Rapture = Incorrect!
  8. There's a website?!
  9. That isn't the case for me. The url changes and when I press 'Refresh' it re-loads the page of the forum I was on.
  10. You're still under the Queen's rule. I still can't believe you voted against an Australian republic when you had that referndum in 1999. The Welsh fought for about 800 years for its freedom from the English Royal Family, but never got it, and you guys got a vote on it and turned it down! D'oh!
  11. I don't see anything wrong with transfering you from one penal colony to another, Crispy. Long live King George!
  12. I thought he was only giving her massages.
  13. If the Mayan gods are so fearsome and strong couldn't they take Bush out themselves? A pit of spikes or a rolling boulder should do the trick.
  14. Jack who? Our demonic zombie horde drinks Brains!
  15. You know what to do. Join us in our demonic country of dooms and curses. Join usss now!
  16. Happy Falling out of the Womb Covered in Slippy Red Mucus Day!
  17. Happy Birthday! I hope the next year is a better one for you NH!
  18. I think they plan on replacing the current flag with that of St David, Wales' patron saint. It's a gold cross on a black background. Why they'd want to replace the best flag in the world is beyond me. It's supposed to go back to Roman times. The flag of Owain Glyndwr is also a popular one in Wales:
  19. I think it's because Welsh culture still has strong links with pre-Christian paganism. When Christianity came to Britain it demonised many pagan mythical gods and creatures (such as the nature god Cernunnos and dragons), so a lot of the characters in our ancient myths are now interpreted by christians as evil. A prime example of this is the big fuss when we made the Archbishop of Canterbury a member of the Order of the Druids.
  20. I remember reading in N64 Magazine a few years ago (it's now a Wii magazine) that they'd refused some kind of incentive from a games company to lift a score. It needen't be money, just more access to future games in development perhaps?
  21. I know some of you probably suspected this already, but I am now officially one of the children of Beelzebub. According to a religious group my country is under "demonic oppression" and "many curses" because of the national flag, Y Ddraig Goch. Link
  22. You missed this bit Spring: Anyway this discussion is getting really boring for everyone involved now, so let's stop here! Please!
  23. No, Sneaksie, I understand your 'stance' perfectly. You started this thread thinking there there was truth in this conspiracy theory and now you don't. Therefore, my job is done. I just wish you'd stop pretending you didn't agree with the conspiracy theory and the start of this thread, because anyone can go back and see that you did. I wish you did write a sworn statement in blood - maybe the loss of blood would make you calm down a bit? Regarding your gross misjudgments of my character, I'm not sure where you're getting these facts from because you don't know me. I'm not a 'spoiled brat' - (I'm from a single parent family in one of the poorest areas of the UK) - and I'm not an alcoholic - (I barely drink at all by UK standards, 4 pints a week at most). But yes the ladies do adore me. Otherwise, please refrain from these libellous remarks about my character.
