  1. I'll tell you what I'd like to see more of, if anyone wants to contribute models: Kitchen furniture. Cookers, cupboards, sinks, troughs, etc.
  2. I've changed my mind. I think it's really good. They seem to be getting better the more you do. Probably better textures or something.
  3. /shudders Edit: In fear. From the bots. You see.
  4. Can someone tell me how to get the little preview window working? I just get RENDER NOT FOUND on all my textures.
  5. So you can't have a camera preview at the moment? It still says "RENDER NOT FOUND" on all textures?
  6. I must say I agree with Mr Mike. New stuff would show off the engine better, and I don't believe you can better Thief Gold anyway, it's so close to perfection. The only thing I think would be worth it would be to look at Songs of the Caverns, screenshot certain details, and make your own opera house, but with nods back to TG.
  7. The Karras robot voices were genius. They scared the hell out of me in the bank cellar. The first time I played T2 I didn't pick up on the fact water arrows killed bots, so I avoided them as fire arrows were scarse. I must say that I like your robot voices Fidcal, they remind me of the 60s Cybermen voices, back when the cybermen were good and actually scary. http://www.kasterborus.com/tardis/baddies/cybermen/tomb1.jpg Those guys.
  8. Tbh when TDM is complete there will be communities who host resources, something like that'll be appreciated nonetheless.
  9. TG had periscopes you could use to see outside didn't it? Was probably the scouting orb (:..( TDM doesn't have it!) code.
  10. On mine the preview has textures that say "RENDER NOT FOUND" or something. To be honest it's not very inviting for someone still quite new to D3ed.
  11. The TG demo was awesome. Assassins. Loved it. Made me get the game pronto.
  12. Indeed. No-one is perfect. Mind you programmes like Big Brother do the opposite, they are full of freaks, so present an image of freakishness.
  13. Did you not have rope arrows at Baffords? I really can't remember. Actually in TG were the arrows handed out type by type, really slowly, like in TDS? I only played TG two years ago or maybe even less...
  14. To be honest I'd work on something tailored for TDM. That is to say do a "spiritual successor" rather than a direct exact copy. I'm not sure the old games fit in the new engine. However the old shots remind me of how gloriously gaudy TG was. Plus the crazy beams just for rope arrows. Maybe someone with a careful hand can make some TDM textures in that style.
  15. Request for TDM. Anyone who has played TG will remember Songs of the Caverns. What a classic level. Can someone create ambients similar to SotC ones, which were an orchestra tuning up. It was incredible. TDM would be great with that. Opera houses, concert halls, good stuff.
  16. Ah cheers! Well as you can see, I've moved one, I'm a beta mapper! Yay! However that doesn't mean I'm stopping using my resources, I have converted all my textures, for use in conjuction with TDM ones. With wallpaper and trims like that, taken from actual old wallpaper, it's worth hanging onto. The models though are lovely to work with. So the house is looking splendid now. But I'll shuttup now, as there is probably secret police after me.
  17. So is this thing any good to use then? Is it better to start in D3ed, build the map, make it all pretty, then use Darkradiant for TDM specific stuff?
  18. For a tragic/beautiful take on this: http://www.kfj.f2s.com/
  19. Is there any movement with this? I'd like to crack on with it if you think I'm good enough.
  20. Haven't done much since last update. Went out for birthday celebrations. Have done the lighting as you said though, the candles themselves don't cast a shadow. The next bit to do is the loft entrance ladder, and the window looking out the loft. Then the servants' wing.
  21. Wow that's really counter intuitive. However in the Street map I ended up turning off shadow casting by the street lamps, it looked better, so I can see how it can be necessary. As for scale, I dunno. What ceiling heights does TDM like? I have ranged from 1.5 players (1 player=64 units) which is too cramped, and 2 players, which is I think one of the storeys is in the house. Maybe it's due to the furniture "models".
  22. Yeah, but before that little landing was it, it stopped suddenly and went into limbo. The point is that the corridor layout is now finished. Plus I like that classic perspective view down the corridor. I have actually always had ambient lighting in there, making the shadows slightly lighter, one big ambient light covering the house, outside and in. Proof of this is in this shot [http://img80.imageshack.us/my.php?image=corridor1qv0.jpg] where you can still see the floorboards (It's dark though, especially on this old CRT monitor on my net PC) even though it's in shadow. Without any ambient light D3 renders shadows in 100% black. Nice. However recently I turned the ambient light up. And sometime (not today. Had enough mapping today!) will look at that main corridor, in which the candles do cast too heavy shadows. A few new shots: As for occupation, yes student. Obviously. I decided to spend my summer holidays before university learning to map. Hence I would like the models etc before the end of the holidays, after which I won't be able to spend 3 hours (or more...) a day mapping. The only game I play at the moment is Grid Wars 2. Most of the time, mapping. Edit: Yes look the shadows are less extreme now with the ambient lighting turned up. Is that what you wanted? Also: Things to do: Brick cornering all around the house. Makes it look a lot nicer.
  23. I'm loving the warm lighting you can do. And I make no apologies for the 70's bedcover (which is actually wallpaper with an "Alien" colour map and stretched out). Until I get a bed model that's the best I can do. Likewise for the pillow which seems to have come from Deus Ex.
  24. Candles. The best particle I could find. On the right in the dining room is the other candidate. Looked small in the particle editor but is actually massive and dangerous looking. The other candle flame is a bit weedy. If anyone could tell me a nice D3ed particle for candles I'd be most grateful. I do like the candles. They look better really, and are actually quite simple, as long as you have a nice particle.
