  1. I appreciate the responses and the assistance with the construction. Just for the record though, I did build one of them entirely of patches, as I know you can't bend brushes The problem that I was having, and it looks like may still be happening, is that the panel patch is being stretched. I'm not on my home PC, and I'll check it out more when I do get home. I see what you mean about breaking the patches up, and it may yet provide the solution I'm looking for in this case. I had attempted doing that in the example I had posted before, about adding windows to a curved patch. It became such a headache that I threw the entire thing away.
  2. I have belt built a panel which I would like to use along a wall as a repeatable pattern. Part of the wall has a 90 degree curve and I would like to mold the panel to fit this curve (note the highlighted curved patch). Part of this panel has a short patch which I am having difficulty with placing correctly, as it is shorter than primary curve area (note the highlighted straight patch). Edit: The 'belt' business above: For some reason I sometimes write phonetically similar words. I don't know why I do this...
  3. I appreciate the response and the tip, but that won't really work for this situation. I've decided not to pursue this particular avenue at this point. For clarity: I have a curved section, which is somewhat long. I would like to add windows into this curve. Because the points that I would like to add windows are not crossing grid lines, I can not add smaller curved patches with the same curvature without having gaps somewhere. I can kind of do it by overlapping some of the patches, it's just that it gets too messy and I don't like it. I did come up with a way to do it that requires significant amounts of preparation, but it's not worth my time right now. If anyone does want to know how I did find a way, then I can go into more detail. Thanks anyway though. I'm always getting bogged down in the details, but I am a very meticulous person... Honestly, I can't wait until I get this area in a presentable state just to show it off a bit Hopefully that happens
  4. Is it possible to bend a set of patches as a group in DR? I have a specific piece which is made of various patches. I would like to make this piece curve at a 90 degree angle. Some of the patches along the curved face are narrower than the others. I was wondering if there was a way to select the entire patch assembly as a group an just add a curve to the entire thing. I've been attempting to curve each piece individually, but I can not get some of the pieces to sit where they should due to the curve. Does this make sense? Should I post images?
  5. I have to say I've heard quite about T4 lately, but to be quite frank, I'm not the slightest bit interested in it. Of course, learning that custom content won't be a 'feature' I'm more certain than ever that I just don't want anything to do with it. TDM captures the heart and soul of Thief in every detail, and it's all I want or need.
  6. I often find myself looking for images for design ideas, but I don't always know the names of things I'm searching for. As I come across these, I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a bit of a visual glossary here in case anyone else has the same trouble. Please let me know if this is redundant or unnecessary here. Pilaster: A shallow rectangular feature projecting from a wall, having a capital and base and usually imitating the form of a pillar. Quoins: Any of various bricks of standard shape for forming corners of brick walls or the like.
  7. No worries, just venting a bit. It really is nice seeing all the new work though.
  8. Here you guys are making this stuff in days, where it's taken me a couple of weeks just to figure out the little I had made isn't any good after-all Oh well, I never said I was a very good architect... let's just hope I can actually finish one at least. It is nice to see how you guys are going on yours. It can be a bit discouraging to be completely honest, but it does provide incentive.
  9. That's the one! Never heard the term before. Also glad to learn the definitions of the others as well. Thanks.
  10. Not rafters. Perhaps the pillars that would hold up the rafters, I do not know. There may not be ay kind of name for them at all. I was going to load up Thief 2 and take a screenie, but unfortunately, My T2 directory has become corrupted and I no longer have it any more (this is very sad for me). A quick description would be the square pillars along the main hallways in 'Masks ' which I'm certain many players used to hide from the guards patrolling the hallways. That may still be very unclear, but it's the best I can do. Anyhow, I'll just continue to work along and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the help so far though.
  11. I've been down that road already, and actually have all but one of those images already saved in my 'Architecture' directory (along with many others) One thing I haven't been able to find too much of yet are the support beams you can sometimes find along walls (think Thief 2: Masks), mainly because I don't know what they're called I think... I'm sure I'll increase my search for this and find what it is I'm looking for. If anyone happens to know the technical name for those, I'd appreciate knowing it too. IF FullOfGreatMapperInspirationStuff = TRUE THEN TheInternets; So I really can't take that route...
  12. I appreciate the tips and ideas. I'll be working towards polishing it off and hopefully taking some better screens later today. While I wasn't able to quite point out what was bothering me about the scene, I spent time studying the scene last night. The biggest concerns that I have currently are: 1) The abrupt ending of the curved stairway to a flat wall 2) The boxy doorways located below the ends of the stairway 3) The curved raised walkway along the perimeter (which is fine to me by itself) prevents most architecture along the curved outer walls, such as windows. 4) Over-all, I'm aiming for 'opulent', but what I've created so far is merely 'functional' As I mentioned though, I'll be working towards polishing off what I can and maybe I can fix these problems. Over the previous week I had been working towards extending the building back, but I'm less and less confident that the design will work. Nailing this down will help me a lot in that respect.
  13. I'm having a very hard time trying to design a building correctly. I have some good ideas, but I just can't seem to scale things as well as I should. I'd be very grateful for some comments on the stairway images I had posted earlier, just to get an idea of what I'm doing right or wrong. I've more or less come to the conclusion that I just need to start it over. I'm also curious to know if the last fire place I posted appears to be scaled properly at all. Personally, I love the design, but is it built correctly?
  14. This seems like the best solution for the handles at least. I've been trying to find out more about this, but the links that I'm following aren't working. Can someone please provide me with more information about this? Running Scripts in Darkradiant > ASE Exporter
  15. I've noticed that if I change any of the preferences in DR then it resets my working directory so that the assets will no longer load. I would assume that just about anyone here knows more about the problem than I, but I would look there first or wherever the game path is stored for TDM.
