  2. How do you get switchable light entities to be turned off at the start of the map? i couldn't see anything relevant in the properties list. Thank you

  4. Thanks Biker. I don't really know what you can do though. It's really just a case of polishing it up really. But like I said earlier, I don't really have any time during weekdays. You can beta test it if you wouldn't mind? It should be ready for beta by weekend at latest. That would be V helpful!

I'm going to bow out of the contest. my mission is about 90% complete. it's really just a case of putting the finishing touches to it and getting it beta tested, but thats easier said than done, seeing as I have no time to work on it during weekdays at the mo. But it shouldn't be more than a week or two before its released. I'd prefer to not enter the contest and eventually release something I'm satisfied with instead of rushing something just to enter the contest. if I was playing someone elses FM I'd prefer that they did the same. Hopefully it will be worth the wait. It's a small city mission. The first half is quite platformer ish with the second half more of your typical Thief like sneakiness. Hopefully the two different play styles will make it interesting. nborh1more please add me to the Upcoming Fan Missions list. Thank you.

  7. Thanks Greebo. It works now but I'm having trouble with the inv_icon. When I go into guis/assets/hud/invtory_icons my folder is empty which is strange as my inventory icons show up fine in game. So I have no idea what to set my inv_icon too. It just shows up as a blank square. It's supposed to be a scroll
  8. Like the tile says. How can I get a movable entity to go into the players inventory when it is frobbed. I had a look at the properties list and saw equipable listed. I aded that to the entity and set it to 1 but that didn't work. Maybe I have to add something else? Any advice pelase. Thank you

  10. Yeah I can dmap it and play it fine using the console. I just want to get it wrapped in a pk4 so I can get it sent out for beta testing hopefully at the weekend. It sounds like my method of putting the cm, proc, aas32 files in was incorrect. I'll try melans mehthod when I get home tonight.
  11. OK so I created a zip file and copied the folders over from dark mod eg maps, xdata, textures etc and on the wiki guide it says to include proc, cm, aas32 files in the map folders. As i couldn't see them anywhere i copied my map file and changed it to each of the required file types. So in my map folder I have downfall.map downfall.cm downfall.proc downfall.aas32 is this correct? I've also included the two required txt files in the zip. darkmod.txt and startingmap txt with just downfall written in starting.txt. I then changed my zip file into a pk4 and put in in darkmod fms. it appears in the dark mod menu and installs OK. But when I go to run the mission it starts loading and then it bounces me right back to the main menu? Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

I'm just wondering, for a really simple solution, would it be possible to turn a readable into a func_static entity? yes I know that the player wouldn't be able to read it anymore but the contents are actually irrelevent. I don't have access to DR at the mo so I can't try it myself. Sorry if thats a stupid question.
  14. Ah yes. I think I see what you mean now Fidcal. I was typing the objective_ent in the wrong way. I'll try that tonight. Hopefully that will resolve it. Thank you. Any ideas on how to get my readable to behave itself in the "place an object in a certain location" objective?
  15. How are you typing the obj_id value into DR? It looks like you are typing the objective number and the amount on two seperate lines which you can't do I don't think (I'm at work and don't have access to DR at the mo to try). I tried typing it in as "1 9" and "1/9". Also on another objective (last one I promise) I'm trying to place an object in a certain location. In this case place a readable (god damn I hate readables! lol) on a table. The object won't complete. I tried using an entity that wasn't a readable and success. So it is set up correctly. How do I get a readable to do the job? Sorry about this. I feel like I've been going on about readables forever. Thank you
  16. Yes i did. But when I closed the readable that was supposed to trigger the objective it did not appear on the objectives page
  17. Thank you Sotha. That post from Grayman described exactly what I wanted to do. Unfortunately it still doesn't seem to work. I followed everything in the post but as soon as I start the mission, the objective thats supposed to be triggered is visable right at the start. This is really annoying. My maps pretty much ready to go. I just have to set up the objectives and get it beta tested really. Unfortunately the layout of my map is tailored to suit the story. So I can't see a way of not including the objective without leaving the entire story out.
  18. Is there a way for a readable to trigger an objective? It is a normal aquire item objective I'm trying to set up but it is to be triggered once a readable is read. So I don't want the player to be able to see the aquire item objective until after the readable is read. Hope that makes sense
  19. Will I still be able to enter my map into the vertical contest if it's a few days late? It doesn't really matter because I'll still release it no matter what. It's just I'm having to do a lot of over time at work this week, and by the time I get home I'll have little to no time to work on my map
  20. OK so I've inserted the objectives prefab into my map. Let the stupid questions commence. 1. The "go to room X when fisnished" objective says I have to go the the escZone. I can't find this entity anywhere. Do I have to create an entity and call it the escZone myself? 2. How do I set the loot values for the loot objectives? 3. I'm trying to trigger an objective by frobbing a readable. The objective editor guide says I have to insert an entity called target_tdm_setobjective. I've done done this and added a custom script to my objective. The guide then says I have to give it an "obj_id" property which I can't find anywhere in the drop down menus? Any advice pelase.   23. I feel so retarded. I accidently put a readable into my map that was from the model list and not the entity list and was trying to get the readable editor to work on it. Doh! Thanks for all the replies but nevertheless I'm still stuck on readables. I've entered the text and saved it and when I go into the game I frob the readable nothing happens. Here is a screenshot of my readable editor if it helps.

I searched for a driver for my graphics card but couldn't find it listed anywhere in the drop down menus. Thank you for trying to help though. Thanks to everyone who replied. I really appreciate your efforts to help
  25. @NH Disabling the desktop compisition didn't do the trick unfortunately. @biker I have an NVidia geforce 9600 gso. The driver says its what was the latest driver from the nvidia website of March last year. I can't believe I spent the last two months of my free time working on a map for the vertical contest just for the readable editor to not work. This is typical I don 't suppose that if someone is kind enough I can send them my map with the txts and instructions with which readables to put them in that they would do the honours? Although now that I think about it I suppose if the readable editor doesn't work the objects editor wont work either
