  1. I'm surprised there isn't more noise being made about this thread. This change will be a huge help to my FM, as a lot of it is based around covertly stashed notes, that for the sake of not having the note-placers head removed, are to be kept on the player. I tried placing a switch and frob_peer'ing it to the first readable, but picking it up doesnt trigger the event, resulting in me having to use openable objects (doors, little boxes) on my objectives to get the next objective showing. It should also allow for more realistic readable based mission objectives, depending on how you choose to have the player interact with the environment. Personally, I can't wait. Unless something in my script/plan changes, this single change will affect (positively) perhaps 80% of my mission objectives.
  2. The foot-draggers can be killed with swords if you are careful about swing timing and max distance. Revenants parry. My method for dealing with them is drag them into guards, get out of reach, and hide until my alert level goes down enough to prompt guard vs zombie brawling. Or keep running. I love the noises the Revenants make.. the noises! One of those sneaking up on you will probably scare the crap out of you.
  3. Yeah, took me just over 2 hours (inc a 5m smoke break) to finish Politics, then 50 odd for Night on the town, and just over an hour for the third part, reloads took it to 4 and a half. Great map though, I saw a few things that weren't aligned properly, but given the immense amount of stuff you put in there, I let it slide, and have yet again mentally readjusted the amount of stuff to put in my FM. You beat me to custom voice clips! The bar just keeps getting higher...

  5. Are there any wiki links to things to break the map-maker's version of writer's block? I have the main story set for my FM, the 'hub' area practically completed, and I've started basic work on the parts that hinge off the hub, but I find myself highly demotivated, unable to bring myself to even add fluff to the map, let alone continue creating sections. Perhaps a section on motivation generating techniques, or roadblock breaking techniques?

  8. Title says it all. I'm looking to have a sound clip playing from inside a church prefab I've assigned to the Builders, and again in a large Builder outpost. The look and feel of the Builders seems to be middle ages Christians, I'm wondering if having a free gregorian chant track play from the inside of the church via a speaker fits the builders, and do I need to give any credits for the song?
  9. Muchos gracias, I have prefabs now. At a later date, when the map is close to completion, would I be able to get your expert eye to give it a go over perhaps? Ok hit another hiccup. I have a couple of notes I want to trigger objectives when picked up. The way I'm currently trying to do this, is by having an info_tdm_objective_location around them, and trying to boolean NOT them so they trigger when the note is removed. So far, no luck. What do I need to add to it to make it trigger the relay its targetted to (no arrow in the editor, can this entity not trigger?) when the note with objective_ent 1 in it is removed from the box?
  10. Is there any place to download missing pieces, like prefabs? My install didn't come with any prefabs, so I have no skybox (unless it's somewhere else and I don't know where to look for it), and probably other prefabs that are listed in the wiki that I never seem to have got.
  11. @aida directly copy pasted from dictionary.com, don't mind the odd looking stuff inbetween the words. Yes I had to go there to find this clue, yes the place clue 2 was located was the last one of them I checked.. after lapping the city outside twice...
  12. Yep, very helpful advice. Now I just need to work on making additional objectives work, and somehow making my map harder. Maybe it's just because I know everything about it, but it really does seem too easy, not scary/tense, and far too square compressing the level took care of this.... a few more lights, or greater radii on the existing lights, and going anywhere near mainstreet is going to be punishing.
  13. I uh... wow. There's "ns" at the end of the 2 textures giving me trouble. Thanks so much! Will fix this before coming to ask for more help (helpless lamb I know..)
  14. It works fine now, which is a relief. Just played an hour of games with the new config, and it feels like theyre bending outwards even though theyre almost straight... weird on the eyes. TDM looks great in that resolution though
  15. XP doesn't have Aero lol... I got camera mode working, by going from 2 monitor extended desktop, to 2 monitor display group. With a combined res of 2880x900 (instead of 1440x900+1440x900) camera mode is now working. Maybe DR doesn't support multiple monitors as well as it could?
  16. Any hint of an E.T.A. on the next version? I'll be ok for a while, I'm fleshing out my level atm, not tweaking it up for beta/final release, so some features still not being perfect doesn't bother me at the moment.
  17. Sapphire Radeon HD 3870, 512mb. Sometimes if I fail an objective, rather than instantly reload, I'll go charging into combat for laughs. Attempting to quickload there when it becomes obvious I'm going to die, has caused crashes. Othertimes I get into combat accidentally, i.e. get bumped by a guy when picking a door, same thing on quickload... but it's sporadic. Might get multiple successful combat quickloads in, then the next one will just kill it. Upgrading to an Asus Radeon HD 5850/5870 soon, I'll make sure to report in if the combat quickload crashes still occur. Do you need more details? I.e full system specs, full game settings, etc etc.
