  1. *Bows deeply, and makes extra sure not to steal Serpentine's bag of coins* Thank you very much sir, that did the trick. Oh glorious glorious ugly red line of error finding, I have you again. While you're here, I don't suppose you know anything about camera mode not working in DR 1.2.1?
  2. Anisotropic filtering, Anisotropy? I'm currently running 8xAA 4xAF, don't really get many crashes in game, the most common crash I get is the quickload crash, and its usually while taking damage/in combat.
  3. I also had that problem with the .pk4 link in stumpy's post. I got a working copy from one of the mirror links posted below it.
  4. Has your local DST time changed? NZ DST was put forward one week, so I've put my clocks back as of this morning, but still getting posts with the 1 hour difference.
  5. Very good mission, looking to replay it and see if I can get my time under 1 hour. Either that, or find more of the secrets, my first playthrough I only found 5 of them.. was hoping to get at least 8.
  6. Just finished it on the hardest difficulty, ghosted all the way. Took just over 3 hours (of game time, it took wayyyyy longer than that in reality!), and it was worth it. Only gripe was going down to 10fps during the fog part outside, but thats without taking any of the recommended fps boosting steps, and was still playable. Very enjoyable mission, great work Fidcal! This certainly ups the bar on how good I was gonna try make the mission I'm playing with...
  7. To the best of my knowledge, most components will only fit in the slot they're intended to fit in to. The part you have to watch out for, is the little cables and plugs that go between components. Example being the little cables that come off the bottom right corner (as you look into the pc with the cover off) for the power/reset/front usb/pc speaker etc. You CAN break stuff by getting those wrong, though it'd usually be something like breaking whatever usb device you plugged into the front ports if you put the usb lead onto the wrong pins. Otherwise, actually assembling a pc is pretty foolproof. A workaround to reinstalling the OS might be to upgrade 1 component at a time, though that may limit you in your motherboard/cpu choices.
  8. You can probably save a lot of money by building it yourself, if you remember a few things. Now if you're determined that you can't do it without breaking something, that's fine. If you're willing to give it a try, here's a few tips I've picked up in the few pc's I've built for myself. If you have an ATX case, consider getting an ATX motherboard. They aren't very much money for a basic one, and they have more slots (more RAM slots, more PCI slots, and if you feel like splashing out, multiple PCI-E slots, so you can have Crossfire/SLi (2 video cards by the same manufacturer (ATi or Nvidia)) joined together to increase performance). You don't need an ATX motherboard though, as you already said, your mATX motherboard fit fine. If you're looking to get a new power supply (henceforth abbreviated to PSU), on the recommendation that your current one won't be able to handle the new load (from what I've read your old ATX case doesn't have one? Is this the case?), then you can put the new one in your ATX case (this gives you case, PSU, motherboard). Do you know what your cpu is? This is important. You will want to find a motherboard that supports your current CPU. Do you know what manufacturer (AMD/Intel), and what socket it is? This is quite specific information. Or you can choose a motherboard based around a more powerful CPU if you choose to upgrade. Same thing with RAM. Unless you're going to buy new RAM, what speed/size your RAM is will also be a consideration when buying a motherboard (if you choose to buy a new one, if not disregard this and the CPU section). You said your onboard video card is an Nvidia 6150? You can pick up a cheap graphics card that is much better than that these days, though something to be aware of is that some of the more powerful ones require a little 4/6? pin cable directly from the PSU to function. This should be quite apparent in the documentation for the graphics card. Your existing hard drive, cd/dvd/blu ray player/burner will MOST likely work with the motherboard if you upgraded it, unless they're IDE (wide gray cable) instead of SATA (thin red cable), AND you picked a NO-LEGACY motherboard (no legacy means it is missing some connectors from old hardware standards, especially things like LPT (old printer/joystick) PS2 (old keyboards/mice, the connector looks like a circle of pins with a solid black plastic lug in it) NOTE - this is an important lesson I learned when building my last computer. If you buy a new motherboard, and it comes with some odd shaped screws AND normal screws (the odd shaped ones will look like you can put another screw inside them) you need to put those in the case FIRST, then put the motherboard on top of those, and with the normal screws, screw the motherboard into the odd screws. This should prevent the PCB (printed circuit board, the green 'plate/sheet' thing the motherboard is) from short circuiting on the metal back of the case. If you do a radical hardware shift, and use the same hard drive, its *possible* you will need to reinstall your operating system (Windows does this if you do too many hardware swaps in one go (things like graphics card/optical drive/pci slots etc). Not sure how Linux treats this, I didn't have problems transplanting a Linux hard drive from 1 pc to another, but they were similar, not sure about this with Linux. Operating system installs aren't very complicated, usually it's just set your BIOS to boot optical drive first, have the Operating system install cd/dvd media in the drive, and save & exit on the BIOS, which will then prompt you to boot from cd/dvd (some Operating system discs will just go straight to the installer, so don't be alarmed if this option doesn't come up, but the installer starts anyway), the Operating system installer will start, prompt you to select a drive to install to (typically this is C drive, or C:\, yours may be D:\ or E:\), then you just tick some options and away you go. This step here assumes you have an Operating system disc, otherwise you may have a disc called Restore Disc/Restore Media. Just realised I'm rambling very badly, hopefully this helps you make a more informed decision on how to spend your money, should you choose to spend it. One last thing to remember, though you probably know this already. It is usually very obvious where a part goes, the cables/gold band connectors will usually only fit in one way.
  9. It's not, I managed to 'fix' it by shifting the light and altering how far it shines. I'm now getting the same thing with the bottom floor lights, gonna have to find a way to fix it and soon Update 3/4/10 1.20am.. now I'm not getting any pointfiles generated, and someone dented the submarine
  10. The .pk4 link in the original post didn't work for me, got a working version from the download mirrors Chiron posted... This level is huge! Looking forwards to really giving it a play later tonight. Good work mate!
  11. I can give that a try (later though, is 3am. Will update with results)
  12. So far I've had no unsolved issues with leaking, though a torch I created seems to be ignoring walls and projecting through them. (You can also see a texture misalignment on the edges, still debating how to take care of that one. Disregard, fixed.)
  13. I'm getting there slowly, have resized my room, troubleshot my lighting issue (it comes out of the roof now). Gonna keep trying to do this, I'm all excited now
  14. Thanks for the reply Fidcal, you actually posted right before I was about to update. Just to punish myself, I tried again. Room is 192x192x192, and I tried a different texture...... and it worked . Create room, size all pieces to 192, added a block texture, used the 'room' button, put playerstartpoint in, put a light in.... and it worked. No compile errors, (my light is magically floating waist-high on the wall, but who cares!). Is there a problem with the texture suggested in the A-Z? I didn't get it working once with that texture, but using a different one works absolutely fine.
  15. Didn't see this covered anywhere, so here we go. I installed the vc redist. Using Darkradiant 1.2.1, 32 bit, installer version. Grid size is 8 Create new map, make box (x 256, y 192, z defaults to 128) Save map Block is not visible in the camera window With this selected, I follow the instructions to apply the cobblestones - blocks_mixed_multicolour texture, right click apply. Flush the textures as per the instructions (even though I probably don't need to) Save map Open TDM, dmap tut (not in its own folder) I get a leak error, with both room and hollow options. Also get a leak without room or hollow. Is adding the texture causing these leaks? I'm pretty sure I'm following the instructions to the LETTER, and I'm not TOO retarded... why am I getting these leaks only after applying this texture?
  16. No problem, looking forwards to playing your map.
  17. This might be a little late, but I noticed when you start the level, and are facing the double-doors to enter the mansion, the window to the right has a candle in it, and you can reach through the window and extinguish the candle.
  18. I'd be keen to help playtest this map Core2Duo 2.53ghz 3gb ram Radeon HD 3870 WinXP pro 32bit Just registered an account at Shalebridgecradle, let me know if you need another tester.
