I tried it with 'Force on' but it´s the same. I said I have this only in wide areas. I use the latest drivers that worked with Doom3. Though I didn´t tried since April newer releases... I use Nvidia GeForce 9800GT and it´s pretty new. (almost half a year old)

Fan Mission: The Glenham Tower by Sotha (2010/07/17)
LEGION replied to Sotha's topic in Fan Missions
I hoped the quicksave-crashes were history with the new update, guess not. Though, I quicksaved very often and had no crashes. -
I think I said it before but got no response, so I´ll post it again: I really would like to see the briefing-text (accessible via a button) in the objective-screen that is accessible during the mission, too. Last night I looked into Builder´s Influence and I wasn´t able to finish reading on most of the briefing-pages, as in some other missions before. So, an option to re-read the briefing would be really nice, don´t you think? edit: a second Quicksave-slot would be nice too. Is that possible? (in case of quicksavecrashes destroying quicksaves f.e.)
-
So, you saw it too? I really would like to know that I´m not the only one having this. I could make a video with Fraps, though I don´t know where to upload it. But the effect is really like without V-sync or on low hz-rates. It´s like part of the screen are behind the movement. And yes, when moving the view slow all is fine. I´m really sure that it happens in wide areas: Tonight I looked into Builder´s Influence and I saw the effect at the starting area. But as I got into the side-alley left of the town-hall the effect was gone. Most likely because there was a visportal at the beginning of that area. I have now some little time so I´ll test some GPU-settings... edit: I found out something new: When I deactivate 'Triple Buffering' the effect is gone, but substituted with a stuttering view-movement. When I come to the areas with better 'visportaling' the view is smooth like it should be. This is even worse than the tearing, so I´ve changed back. Sadly, that means TDM has problems with big areas. Is there a high chance that the team is able to do something about it in the future? (with source code) As we speaking about the engine, I´m curious about what engines the Team thought about in the early days. Meaning, if you´d not chosen Doom3, what would it have been now? This is no critic on the engine, I´m just curious. I´m very happy with the appearance of TDM. If I would´ve been around in the early days, I would´ve never expected such quality TDM offers now, simply incredible when I think about that you even haven´t had access to the source code.

Yeah, it´s alright. Did what I wanted. I was just curios if it would cause trouble if I replace a gui from the main folder with one out of the subfolders. I used substitutes from the same folder anyway. (I prefer actually Andrew & Shoplist)

My goodness, sorry, but why this horrible avatar now? Or I´m the only one seeing all those pixels...
Don´t wanna be offending, though! ;-)

Just for info: The bloodgate and even the DarkLurker-download are still the hammer-versions. The mediafire-link is the correct one. (But still in the splash-info screen is the bad word with 'h') -
Fan Mission: The Glenham Tower by Sotha (2010/07/17)

And why did you give me a negative rep, id? WTF? -
Yes Fullscreen. I played Glenham Tower now and I´m very sure that this is related to the visportal/performance-thing. Because I saw it in a room with door open. As a closed the door again the effect was gone. It´s not limited to horizontal line, my fault. And it´s not limited to light sources too, was just better viewable on them. So, you´ll see it most likely in open areas or when you never close doors (I always close them). I saw it around the tower, but it seemed weaker because I only mentioned it as I got out at the end. Just for my understanding: A 'visportal' opens and closes an area for the renderer, right?. So it is really difficult to use in open areas I guess. Would be having too much visportals a problem, too? edit: On my TV I have maximum 60hz on actual res. Could that be the cause, too? On my old screen (very old) I always had 85hz.

My goodness, with people like you around me I´m feeling like like little, less worthy...

Oh, uups! Sorry, Aida. So, I´ll have to change the books and scrolls folders too. What about the files in the main readable-folder? I guess I change them too. There is parchment too. And scroll again. Little bit confusing, but I´m only at the beginning of understanding how TDM ticks... edit: can I replace parchment_guis with sheet_guis without causing problems? What is a sheet anyway in this case? Is it actual an readable item ingame? Thanks again Fidcal! back to topic: When eating food, most of the time the frob sound is played. I tried it in Glenham tower at the chest with the breads. Only one played the chunk-eat-sound. Saw this in missions before on apples. Since the new update usually I experience this: After I extinguish a candlestick I want to put it down with the 'drop'-key. This triggers a mis-positioning that puts the candlestick nearer to me. On the next 'drop'-key-press it is finally dropped. I´m not sure, but I think when I try to put the candlestick down with the 'frob'-key this bug does not occur. If it´s related to this: I use 'g_fov 85'.

Fan Mission: The Glenham Tower by Sotha (2010/07/17)

Great job, Sotha!! edit: why is the text following the one in size one bold? I couldn´t switch it off by activation and deactivation the bold-option. -
Sorry, I use Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT and threaded optimization is off. I use the res 1216*692 with AAx4 and anisotropic filtering at 4 too. I use the high quality shader. I saw it most in Melan´s mission, before in Sons of Baltona a little. It´s not on every surface/wall. I think there has to be a lightsource too to cause it. I have to sleep a little and then I play the glenham tower and tell you if I saw it there.
-
Oh, ok, my fault. But I already use V-Sync and this tears only appear when moving the view horizontally. It appears not when I look around very slow if it helps. As I said, didn´t saw it in Doom3, but on several TDM-maps. Someone else noting this?
-
No, look at the 'f' in 'Father' on the right page. I already changed 'Everett' and 'Chris Hand'. Is it a font that´s not posted in the wiki? edit: It´s not 'Popsies' either. And there is no readable-folder in Melans pk4. So it´s not a new font. I don´t get it. @Melan it´s the book by the builder where the ladder leads up to some valuables near the staircase. Maybe I´m so stupid and it´s one of the new fonts I assigned, I´ll set it back. Wait a sec... No, gladly I´m not stupid. It´s another font. Melan, you´re my last chance!
-
Thanks a lot, Fidcal! Though I guess you thought more complicated, I just renamed the whole sheets. I can´t recognize the font on the shot via the wiki, does someone know? It´s from you, Melan.

Thanks, until now you never bored me. (if your nick is even related to bore someone)

Alright, thanks Melan. I had to increase my gamma, otherwise I would have never seen how to get up there. Sad, that you´re not willing to update this gem. Maybe in the future? -

Maybe an Improvement for Performance for Win 32bit systems
LEGION replied to LEGION's topic in TDM Tech Support
No, no, I meant Doom3 uses only one by default (or am I wrong here? At least my other game used only one so I assigned all four). I know this 'imagecfg' originally was made for disabling other cores. But with 'Prifinnity' I was easily able to assign all four cores. -

Fan Mission: Thief's Den Re-release by Fidcal(2010/07/04)
LEGION replied to Fidcal's topic in Fan Missions
Was a nice mission, or should I say classic considering the age? (is it now 1969 or 2008?) You lightened up the promo-shot, right? In game it was a lot darker or it is just my gamma-setting. Anyway, I had to ghost here because of the actual weapon-select-bug I thought there is now blackjack and other weapons. Was much fun. Like KoMaG I took my time and spent a lot outside. Nice Ambient sounds, made it more alive. Though it took my a while to get to know which way in. So at last, I know the prequel of Chalice, the others in the series will follow soon... -

What about the Affinity-setting? This is the one people talked about FPS-boost in half! When I look at the Taskmanager after exiting the game I can see that TDM has used all four cores...
