  1. The Almighty Dollar and its reliance upon the lack thereof. Way to drive a sacred series of classic video games straight to the bottom of the bog of mediocre gaming detritus, as hauntingly predicted by several brave, but now long forgotten souls.
  2. I would have to agree. The one thing about Deadly that forced me to never return was the broken movement. In hindsight, when compared to NuBoots, wow yeah! At least in Deadly you could still run and jump and explore things freely! Granted, Garrett seemed like he had a broken hip. I really do mean to go back actually and replay the trilogy, now that so much time has passed, and Abomination IV has finally ben released into the mindless masses.
  3. Thief 4 is like... Deadly Shadow having a very bad, bad acid trip.
  4. Interesting, so if you are close enough to loot for it to highlight, but not close enough yet to make the grab, Garrett will automagically move close enough to make a grab. Unbelievable. Just another element that shows the team spent their precious resources on trivial eye candy, when simple game mechanics clearly took a back seat.
  5. Thief 4 is trash... 'nuff said. j/k We shall see as time marches forward, how much of the wreckage can be salvaged.
  6. See? I told you jtr7! The lack of freeform exploration in Blasphemy IV would be the final straw. But what do I know, Im just a washed up nutjob from the era of classic gaming. A time when imagination was more important than the medium that delivered the gaming, whether it be tabletop down through the personal computers. Rock on my brother!!!!!!!!

  7. Because it has the word Gold in it, and they attracted to that like a moth to a flame?
  8. Why does it still hurt that they would eliminate Russell so that they could make their little movie? If they wanted to prove to the world that they too could make a video game movie, why did they have to rape the series in order to do it. I just feel that this was a terrible mistake that will have lasting repercussions.
  9. The funny thing for me about this, is that everyone now knows that the game is a complete sham! And yet, here you are still under the impression that there is something to actually be spoiled! LOLOL
  10. Whatever happened to the whole "we kept the Thief DNA intact". lol
  11. Ya know, for whatever it is worth, I *would* like to just add one thing to this discussion. This is something that applies to almost any place where people are talking about the various Thiefs these days. People often make comparisons to other sequels, both movies and games. Its like, Batman part 4 didnt have such and such in part 2 so... Thief cannot be compared to any other media. Thief: The Dark Project stands completely alone on many fronts. It is decidedly unique, and because it defined itself so explicitly, its taken years to unravel and enjoy every aspect of it. It set its own standard that Thief II improved upon and Deadly Shadow was a pretty fair forgery. The game was bonkers, but it had all the authentic key ingredients. Face it, whatever Looking Glass was holding sacred when they created Thief is only being held at face value in this new game. It makes little sense to compare Thief (4?), Thiefs 1 and 2, and Deadly to a bunch of other movie sequels. Thief is just one of those monumental games that you were meant to rip off and make a new inspired first person "simulator", not bastardize in the name of greed and money and self importance. But as someone pointed out either here or there or somewhere, the dreams that we had at the beginning of the 2000's just never came to fruition. So many agree upon that. Dont worry, folks. I wont be bothering you with this type of stuff very often if ever. I was just reading up on this forum since I am in the process of being eliminated from TTLG, and found this thread to be an uncensored place I could actually get away with just saying how I feel about this.
  12. You just arent that intelligent. Cunning and crafty to a small degree, but not very intelligent.
  13. Hey Jason, it's me, Goldmoon!

  14. Well, like I said, we are over now. It was 12 years of my life. I didnt really care about the username thing at the time as we shared everything. Too long story made short: We were both gamers and musicians, then at age 29 she decides that those things aren't mature enough and we need to move away from those things. I decided she was wrong. I dont think I'll ever get into that serious of a relationship again, at least not with a fellow gamer. I'll probably always keep some distance. I had a feeling you were going for the whipped thing, I almost even posted it. I most certainly am not! (anymore) Above all, usernames aside, I only come to these types of places for fun, laughter, and gaming. I dont usually fight or argue because the whole concept of internet fighting is still too amusing for me to take part in. I could *never* fully explain myself, so I dont even try. I find satisfaction in making jokes to myself during internet "arguments". btw, unless it is about Dark Project or Dark Mod, this is about as serious as I'll ever get. Hiya Komag. Tuff nuts about TTLG. I started a thread over there about people who have been banned (I got away with it). Maybe when you get back in you can post on it.
  15. Took me a while, but I finally found it. I didnt know you were arcooke over there, and you put it in the Deadly Forum. I never thought to look for it there!
  16. Not quite. Just another Taffer from way back. ZylonDrain can only stay friendly for brief periods of time it seems.
  17. ZylonBone! Thank you so much, for the welcome. I'll have you know that the girl who was in my life for the past 12 years, has been gone for about a half year now. We're "working" on it. You don't like her taste in names? Or you don't like guys who let their girlfriends name their usernames. RavenShore is at the boards that I found myself out of interest. Yep, she found Eidos and TTLG first...
  18. Hello, I am RavenShore. Some may remember from the Ion Forums for Deadly Shadows. I am also Old Gold at Eidos and Goldmoon Dawn at TTLG (crazy name for a crazy place). I was at Eidos first. Anyway, after this mess with Komag I found that the Forums here are very much alive! I am here for one reason only. My unbridled love of crpg. I have always considered many of the LG games to be rpg's in the Ultima "think before action" style. To me, Thief: The Dark Project is the ultimate realisation of the gameworld Richard Garriot often envisioned, with a dark twist. That dark twist is how I got hooked into this series. You guys seem to completely understand the elite gameplay established with Thief. In short, less is more.
