  1. Sort of like a template that people can add to their own maps? That would be fine. I don't think it should be integrated into the system in any other way though, for reasons already discussed in the previous thread.
  2. I have some ideas of how this could work...a similar look to each menu, but the central design could be different for each page, or different figures at the sides, or something. I won't have time to do anything tonight, but I'll play around with some ideas on the weekend.
  3. Ok, check the Approved Concept Art thread for the arrows and flashbomb. I'm still waiting for a concept sketch of the noise arrow. If you'd like to do up a broadhead too, that would be great.
  4. Oofnish, how do you feel about modelling some basic furniture? I'll check on what we need specifically when I get home from work.
  5. Ok, Deep Omega, how do you feel about modelling some equipment? You've already done a good job with the sword. We have concept art for the four elemental arrows (which all use the same model by the look of it) And we will need a bow as well. Are you willing to tackle those this week?
  6. I like this basic idea, Gold. It would fit very nicely into the style of the stained glass menu, if we went with that one. I have a request though...please don't use the Mason font for anything other than titles. It is too ornate for descriptive text. And we will have to be consistent in which font we are going to use for our selectable buttons. I favour Mason for the titles and Carelton for the buttons, like T1/2.
  7. None of these are exactly what we would be using...they are mock-ups. We're just voting on what style we like, so as artists we can move in one direction instead of five different ones.
  8. In some cases, yes. However, there are some things that are very much tied to what makes thief "Thief". Elemental arrows, blackjacking and the lightgem all fall into that category, IMO. If the lightgem can be toggled off, problem solved. Those that don't want it don't have to use it.
  9. Flip through any fantasy art book and you will see half a dozen different warhammer emblams, not to mention those on modern flags. As long as it doesn't distinctly resemble the hammerite ones we are fine.
  10. Well, I just cut and pasted that from the Circle...obviously if I took more than 5 minutes I'd do something of our own. Since there is some interest I'll come up with something.
  11. I don't see why not...it's close enough to what we're dealing with already. I've actually done a new one as well. I stole the graphics from The Circle, but I was thinking earlier about something like this, with a circular stained glass design and the city skyline in the background. I put this together in like 5 minutes, so obviously it's rough. I think it addresses Sparhawk's thoughts about sticking to the major colour scheme.
  12. Agreed. That's why I feel it is important too. Oops, I didn't see this until after I posted the vote!
  13. This isn't voting for which menu to use, but just which one you like the most so far. It will give us artists an idea of which one we should be expanding on. Here are the options so far: Inspired by Pak's dark parchment version: Inspired by Ren's Book version: New Horizon's steampunk version: Springheel's dark illustration version: Springheel's (very rough) stained-glass skyline version:
  14. Well, this would still have that effect...the flickering light would be cast over the surface. But instead of a book it looks more like parchment. There was some concern on IRC that the book idea was too bright, so this was another option. I'm starting to feel like we need to put this to some kind of vote.
  15. Ok, I need to get a list of people on the team with modelling experience, and who is working on what. Currently I have: Deep Omega: Main Thief Character oDDity: Hammerite Guard, Elite Hammerite Guard, Zombie Fjonan: Desk and that's it. We need more than just character models, so all modellers, speak up!
  16. Ok, given our discussion on IRC, it seems like some alternatives are in order. Here's another possibility (diagrams and illo. grabbed from the internet...they would need to be replaced).
  17. I love it. Let's get that one in game as well.
  18. I'm open to suggestions...I was trying to work in a hammer and anvil symbol, but I haven't come up with anything great yet.
  19. If that's how you feel about it, why the heck did you ask to do the concept art for them?? Here's a screenshot:
  20. I think that humanoid monsters are fairly well entrenched in the game. We can no more get rid of them than we can robots.
  21. What's this? Did I assign the builder guard already?
  22. We want the creatures to look believable, which means they should be based on something with real-world anatomy. Belchers are based to some degree on lizard (dinosaur) anatomy. The Kurshok were based on fishy anatomy. We should do the same for these. They can be a mix and match of references, but I would suggest thinking insectoid or crustacean.
  23. They did this in T3 to some extent...you'd see citizens with the same body but different heads (or sometimes just different hair) walking around. Whether it is done in coding or modelling doesn't really matter to me. Probably modelling is better, so that the FM is clear about what they are getting.
  24. These are available to any modeller that wants them (Deep Omega already has them for the Thief character). ODDity likes some extra room to be creative and really doesn't seem to need them. If an animator wants some in-motion concept sketches, all they have to do is ask. I know nothing about animation, so I have no idea what would be useful.
  25. I don't think ambient noise is workable, since there will be other ambient noise going on all the time, not to mention listening for map-based audio information. It would get too confusing. As for removing the lightgem, that's a piece of cake. We'll have an option in the Options menu to toggle it on or off. The lightgem is one of the classic Thief icons, so I don't think we should get rid of it.
