TDM 1.03 line 412 script error

Hi there,

I'm hoping to get some feedback on a TDM 1.03 boot error message, listed as follows in the data dump window:

file script/doom_util.script, line 412: unknown value "setGuiParm"

I tried to look for this line in the txt files in the darkmod folder but couldn't find it. Probably needs a 1 or a 0 value set to it is my guess.

Someone please write me back since this is probably going to be a common issue. Could it have something to do with one of the other previously loaded mods I've got?

The full text of the dump is also attached.

If you are going to install Doom III mods you should create sub-directories for them in the install directory. (Instead of placing them in your Base directory.)

Try removing the following items:

C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\Tested.pk4 (1619 files)

C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\omegalabs.PK4 (38 files)

C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\bja_lostfacility.pk4 (196 files)

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

Yup sounds like a conflicting mod, anything that goes into /doom3/base/ will modify anything that uses what it has replaced/extended. The mods should make a folder like /doom3/mymod/ rather, but often people are lazy.

If you have any trouble just go straight for a fresh install and avoid frustration of manually cleaning etc :)

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
