Releasing mouse or tabbing out of game in windowed mode?

Recommended Posts

I googled but came up short. When running in windowed mode how how does one switch out of the game to the desktop or release the mouse to continue working in the desktop?

OS: Linux, XFCE DE

Thanks Ctrl+Alt+~ allows me to release the mouse.

Is there a way to Tab out of fullscreen mode back to the desktop?

Is there a way to Tab out of fullscreen mode back to the desktop?

Someone asked about that recently: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/16948-alt-tab/The suggestions involving Task Manager are Windows-specific, obviously, but other key combinations might work.

I don't believe I was ever successful from fullscreen mode. When I edit/dmap I run TDM in windowed mode just so I can get away from its window when I need to.

I have never used XFCE, but I have found several games running fullscreen under WINE which will respect KDE's run-command dialog (ALT-F2)... I can then tab away. But I did not find TDM to be able to do that using ALT-F2

Thanks Ctrl+Alt+~ allows me to release the mouse.

I always saw it saying to type CTRL-ALT-` for console, but like other iD engine games, I found I only need to type the single ` key.
