Scans of 1870s Victorian Details

Digital Nightfall

Hi Team, I have something for you, if you're interested. Here's a quick sample:

I have a book which is a reproduction of a 1870s catalogue of Victorian architectural detailing. It's about 60 pages or so of stuff ... well, about like that. It's everything from banisters to doors to window frames to storefronts. I am sure that your artists and modelers could have a field day with this stuff. As you can see the level of detail in these old schematics leaves very little up for interpretation.

The only thing I ask is that you please make as much as possible of this stuff available to dromed FM authors as well. I know that it will be very tempting to turn these into very intricate high detailed models, but all of it could also be turned into very usable dark engine objects with a little more work on the texture-artist side of things.

And I'd really like to use alot of it in cosas myself which, by the way, is actually coming along again these days.

I am not sure when I'll get a chance to scan it all: my home scanner isn't really big enough to easily do the job, but the one at school should do, but if there's a high level of interest in this, I will try to get it all to you as soon as I can.

That's awesome, thanks for the offer. I'd deffinately like to see more of that stuff, even just the seperate trim designs could be beveled up in 3d and make nice wood carving, ect... normal maps. Those curly designs can be hard to make smooth with a pen tool, tracing them in photoshop and importing the .ai files is easy :D

Dark is the sway that mows like a harvest

That's pretty cool. :) I was looking for such references, because I'm not a good artist myself, and the more specific it is, the easier I can do it. :) I hope I have some time to work on such stuff, when the mod is done, because I would really like to do this kind of thing as well.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
