Proposal: new texture group(s)

I've got an addition to make and it possibly requires or at least inspires a new texture group or two, so I'm looking for opinions before uploading.

Recently I submitted door/wood/arched_heavy01.

I now have ready the arched frame that goes with that door.

On the one hand, it's obviously best to keep the pair together; the frame and door are a team, and should be easy to find, together. So, the frame could be put in the same group with the door. It's a door accessory, after all.

But on the other hand,

-The frame could be used without the door.

-The door could be used without the frame.

-The frame is not made of wood, and therefore, putting it in door/wood would be misleading.

No /door/frame group exists. One could be made.

However,

-This separates the door from the frame, but only by one folder.

-This doesn't help with other arches to come.

So, what's the best thing to do?

A.) Create both a textures/darkmod/door/frame subfolder, and a new specialized textures/darkmod/arch folder. Textures like this doorframe go in the /frame folder, and textures like stone arches would go in the /arch folder.

B.) Create a specialized textures/darkmod/arch folder only (similar in theme to specialized folders which go beyond material, like /door, /window, /roof, and /decals), and stick both stone arches and doorframes in it (perhaps doorframes in a subfolder), with the doorframes of course sharing close naming with their partnered doors.

C.) Something else...?

I think I lean toward A. That at least keeps the doorframes in clear view, while a mapper is working with doors. Any other arches would be treated as a new specialized category, independent of material (at least in the parent group).

If it is clearly an arch, and we expect a lot of them, then we should create a group for it. Otherwise I would say that we should either use door/frame where only the frames goe into that subfolder, or the name should be door/frame_doorname (to deisgnate that this the frame for this door) to make it distuinguishable. Putting a door and a frame together into a seperate directory is not a good idea, because then you would have to know which doors have frames, when looking for just a door.

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
