Crash upon startup using Mandriva Linux 2009.1/2010

That is the error I get when trying to run it. I had St. Lucia working when I was using Mandriva 2008.1. I updated to Mandriva 2009.1 a couple months ago and had not tried running St. Lucia since that time. I tried it (St. Lucia) last night after darkmod (tdmlauncher.linux) failed to launch, with no luck... same error for both related to gamex86.so and libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.9).

The funny thing is, I tried installing the version of libstdc++ from Mandriva 2008.1 and still got the same error. I do not remember having to do anything special to get St. Lucia working with Mandriva 2008.1, but maybe I did.

Does anyone have this working on Linux, and can you please point me to either an RPM package or a .tar.gz which contains the version of libstdc++ I need to run this? Debian packages will do me no good.

Thanks,

John C.

Our FAQ says this:

http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Does_it_run_in_Linux.3F

If you receive an error about GLIBCXX_3.4.9, delete or rename the files /usr/local/games/doom3/libstdc++.so.6 and /usr/local/games/doom3/libgcc_s.so.1.

Does that help?

Just made that its own entry in the FAQ so it is more visible.

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man." -- George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

"Remember: If the game lets you do it, it's not cheating." -- Xarax

I will look into that... though my doom3 is installed in my user's home, not in /usr/local/* .... that may be the problem.

Ok, it now launches. Thank you... my libstdc* files in my doom3 installation folder have been renamed and now it launches... gameplay not tested yet, but that solved the problem I was having.

I should have checked the FAQ more thoughly.

Thanks again.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
