  1. I hacked in a simple fix to keep players from being able to toggle lean on (with pm_lean_toggle set to 0) by leaning then double-tapping the same lean key, but I haven't committed it yet. It forces the player to wait a lot longer than I'm comfortable with. I would say that the overhaul needs to support going back into a lean before finishing the return to vertical. That is, do like in Thief, where you release the button, and then press it again before you finish returning to vertical, you immediately start moving to the (potentially new) lean direction. Wow, I really wish I could explain that better. Perhaps I should add it to my to-do (eventually) list? Edit: Oh, my current version also fixes the typo I made with pm_lean_toggle. (pm_lean_togggle? Oh no!) I should probably upload it already.
  2. Done. Sneaksie, meet pm_lean_toggle; pm_lean_toggle, meet SneaksieDave. It defaults to hold for lean, btw.
  3. I've uploaded a new pk4 to svn. Lean is now a hold, rather than a toggle. Still a bit buggy, though, if you quickly press and release the button.
  4. Very nice! I doubt I could do anywhere near as well on my first model!
  5. I should point out that the supposed problem here is entirely dependent on not being able to read Doom 3's impulses--which is exactly what ButtonState() does. Please forgive me for my momentary lapse in intelligence. I bloody well should have remembered that, considering all the pain I went through to figure out what ButtonState() and KeyState() do.
  6. Ah. Could you point out (approximately) where it is in the code? I can probably fix it myself, although there may be some problems getting the lean-code to handle non-ASCII inputs.
  7. New button-handler? Do you mean KeyState() in Common.h, or a named pipe like we're using for the lightgem?
  8. Er... Tuning keys usually aren't round; they're flat.
  9. I had to read it twice to realize that was retired nuns, and not retarded nuns.
  10. Yes, a D3 map is compatible with the Dark Mod (although, obviously, not the other way round).
  11. Oh, I know exactly what you mean! toothpaste lubed up Episcopalians extension cord with the parking ticket. That was the best!
  12. Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking along those lines...
  13. That's actually a good point, Komag! I never thought of it that way!
  14. But it's so fun! I wish I knew where I could find the original requirements for Doom 3, pre-Creative. No, the whole point of the sound card issue was to support my argument about Creative making a buy-in, not the other way around. It just got a bit out of hand, that's all.
  15. Heh. I guess I must have missed the line, or missed its significance, at least. I guess I'll have to reread the ending. That's what Bush thinks, at least when it comes to his favorite whipping boys, the CIA.
  16. Alright, fine, let's play this game. Half-Life 2: Minimum: 1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, DirectX 7 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP/ME/98, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection Recommended: 2.4 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX 9 level graphics card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection What? No mention of a sound card? Gasp! Seems to me that would be pretty important... Except it isn't. Bioshock mentioning a sound card in its basic requirements is bullshit, and you and Crispy both know that. Hell, you both practically came out and said it directly! The X-Fi does produce better sound quality--if you spent the $200+ for a sound system good enough to make a difference. Most people, me included, have speakers that muddle any gains over software sound that the X-Fi could make. If the X-Fi could provide a true enhancement to the Bioshock experience, without the super sound rig to match it, I could let it pass. My problem is that as a sound accelerator, the X-Fi is by and large a complete waste of space. There's not much acceleration here, folks, and unlike the Vortex 1/2, there's little to be had in the way of improving the experience. Move along. The fact that the developers saw fit to recommend the X-Fi tells me that they're getting money from the dirty whores at Creative. That whole sound card mess is Creative's dealings, I'm certain of it. Who wants to bet that there's going to be a "Sounds best on X-Fi" or equivalent bullshit video playing whenever you start Bioshock? (I will admit that someone could make the case for the ram on the high-end models of X-Fi. It is however, a fairly weak case.)
  17. I can't help it, especially when I hit the wrong button! I'm completely the reverse. I'm fine with the title being "Deathly Hallows", but ! Contradiction, anyone? Hasn't that bitch ever heard of a Chekhov's Gun? :shakes fist: Edit: this post has more blacked-out lines than your average NSA memo!
  18. I'm no good, either! Besides, I can't run D3 at resolutions above 1280x1024 (stupid monitor). I haven't explored too much of your latest build, I admit. Although, I did find at least one of your new sections. Besides, I haven't been able to load the map ever since Greebo refactored readables.
  19. I figured you could deduce it from my original statement, rather than simply assume I was so terribly confused. Then why is it requiring hardware support? Yes, I know that many motherboards support this, but it's still in hardware. How am I, the average user, to be sure that this feature is universal in motherboards, and therefore don't have to run out and buy a sound card (read: Creative POS)? I'm bothered when mainstream trash is pulling the Creative card, but I've always trusted Levine as a game designer. I feel almost as though he's betrayed my trust and slept with that slut, Creative.
  20. I've edited my post, mate. I know what you were talking about, but nobody else will!
  21. Well, alright. My first problem is no fault of J.K.'s, but I saw The Order of the Phoenix last week. I kept hearing all the actors' voices in the book! It started to drive me nuts towards the end! Most of my real issues, however, come from . Let's take a brief excerpt of the list (not just gripes, some highlights as well ), shall we? Achtung! Massive spoilerage ahead, highlight at your own risk: Biggest spoiler ever: a limp dick wand! I've unfortunately forgotten a lot of my gripes with the book, already. What I've listed should do for now. Edit: whoops! Missed the "More Options" button!
