  1. Ok. I got the sound-conversion method ready. Its uses ffmpeg instead of oggenc, because it doesnt recognize the wav-file(?) (but its makes the size of the converter bigger, like 40 mb)
  2. Here is a screenshot of an early version of the converter. (at this moment it can validate thief-files, convert them to PK4 and extract content) In which fileformat shall i convert the textures?
  3. No, please PM it to me, for security reasons.
  4. Today I started to work on the Converter, to get more developing-experience. When i'm sure its legal, I will put the binary and sourcecode on my personal website and github, in the coming days. At the moment my converter can validate TDP-Gold gamefiles and convert them (CRF-files) to PK4-files. Could someone PM me MD5-hashes of Thief 1 (and/or Gold) unmodified files, to help me? It doesn't convert the content inside these files (like the textures and sound) yet. But its easy to implement this feature, if someone want to use this application.
  5. Found another map exporter: https://sourceforge.net/p/blenderbitsbobs/wiki/Dark%20Engine%20model%20importer-exporter/
  6. If we can find a mapper who's willing to create a mission for TDM (using the tdm-map, -models, -object-sounds, etc). After taking i peek into the tdp-gold files, i can say that is easy to create a application that checks the original tdp-gold files and extract the texture & sounds files and pack it to pk4. The player has to run this application, after he downloaded the mission.
  7. I also want to help. (Like repacking the new version of the updater to (my) installer, testing tdm on wind, etc)
  8. Its just a tdm review from county romania, using a picture with a wrong background-layer-picture from deadfall adventures. No, but if they add crossbow to tdm, should be Nice.
  9. If i would like to tdm-graphics more realistic (imho), i would change the following video settings in tdm. (after i created a backup of darkmod.cfg) Video > general: Texture anisotropy = 16 Video > advanced: ambient rendering = enhanced Interaction shader = enhanced Post processing = enabled bloom intensity = highest Object details (lod) = very high Or In darkmod.cfg seta r_postprocess "1" seta r_postprocess_bloomIntensity "2" seta image_anisotropy "16" Tip: I created my settings by switching back/forth from settings to playerview, using a windowed screen and alt-tabbing, After this i enabled the shadow of the player: seta g_showPlayerShadow "1" You can ask the community to create a hq texturepack.
  10. Here a up of my topic, to give you a status update: I decided to create installers that only installs TDM-updater (it also create the gamefolder, set permissions & shortcuts and give to user the advice to run the updater.) The advantage to only install the updater, is that we dont have to update the installer every time when theres a update of TDM. But the users do need to install other requirements manually if needed. And publisch always the sourcecode when this is needed. TDM-installer - Windows: tested by several users and ready for publication. TDM-installer - PlayonLinux/PlayonMac: ready and publisched. (people can install TDM from this application) The installers - Linux distributions: are both 80% ready. At the moment i'm looking for a methods to run the updater from within in the packagemanagers. (the user can launch the updater also from the shortcuts) TDM installer - Steam OS Professorkaos64 is working on the installer to run tdm on Steam OS. For this my thanks goes to Bikedude, Bedhead and Professorkaos64 for their contributions. I'm looking for users who would like to test my installers (the more, the better) and/or give me pointers. Get the executables from my personal site and the code from my github repo.
  11. Found a tdm-topic about video ram in linux: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/11478-solved-videoram-size-always-to-64-mb-linux/ And there are many topics about this on the net: https://www.google.com/search?q=doom+3+set+video+ram
  12. Which object in tdm you want to improve the quality? At the following site you get a list with graphic settings and descriptions, for the config file: http://www.tweakguides.com/Doom3_8.html To improve (making more beautiful) graphics, follow the tdm performance tweaks Wiki page, but change some values to the oppossite. And get a custom doom3.cfg from here: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/getting-back-into-doom-3-cfg-file-recommendation-for-modern-vga.198838/#post-3079478 But you need to know which setting exsists in tdm. Its also possible to improve objects, besides changeing values in the config file. For example, to improve the torches in missions, use darkradiant. You can change: the model, textures, particles, lens flare, brightness, the distortion, etc.
  13. The TDM-team looks only after the TDM-Binary and the TDM-updater for Linux. I'm working on a community project "TDM-installer", that I also started. Some members of the team are very interested in the tdm installer, but i dont know the status when they implement this. The "TDM-installer" is a project to make software installers for TDM for several Operating systems. (That installs only the updater and creating the game folder, permissions and shortcuts.) This to make is more user-friendlier and avoid beginner problems. Because novice TDM-players want only to play TDM and his missions and not solving system problems. For script examples you can check site(and my github-repositories) and Professorskaos64's repository. Youre welcome to help us.
  14. Nice manual, but i have some mentions: if you use a system with other users, its adviceable to install tdm nog in your home folder. How about adding soms menu shortcuts. Professorkaos and I working on some software packages for tdm, maybe you van help us to port them?
  15. The x86-file is the tdm-executable for Linux. Windows can't start this file. If you have downloaded the zip file from our site, you need first to run the tdm-updater. This appplication downloads the windows executable and the required game files (2.7 gb). If the windows executable didnt get extracted the first time, please check the settings of your virusscanner. To avoid these problems (and other file permissions problems), my advice is to run my tdm installer.
  16. found a shortcut-bug in the tdm installer for windows. Going to repair this in the following days.

    1. Bikerdude
    2. freyk

      freyk

fixed the shortcut bug. And improved some small things.

  17. To solve the problems, please change the folder permissions, so TDM can write in this folder. And then update TDM to the latest version, using the updater. To solve problems like above in the future, I have created several TDM-installers. For the next time you or someone else want to install TDM, run the installer, and run the updater. Is your tdm-game folder read-only? Check the file permissions of the folder and change them so that tdm can write files to it. What is the location of the game-folder? After setting the write permissions, please update tdm using the updater (from downloadpage), (unpack it to the tdm-folder and run it). if the tdm-updater for windows immediately crashes, please read the FAQ and a wiki article if the updater crashes, during the download process, rerun the updater and repeat that until you have download the complete 2.6 gb package. i recommend to always update TDM to the newest release, using the updater. Did you downloaded the "the dark mod 2.0 standalone full installer" (from moddb)? If so, please update it using the updater. (there is no standalone version for 2.03 at this moment.)
  18. Something with your keyboard language? For more info: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1547692#post1547692
  19. Your problem doesnt have to do with the Linux TDM updater, at this moment. Because it installs only game files. Because your problem exists on Linux an Playonlinux, i think its an video problem. For some sollutions, please check The FAQ-page on the wiki and search our forum. And create another topic.
  20. For the people who would like to help me with my tdm installers, i created some repo's on github. Git it on https://github.com/freyk22

  21. Nice job. If we want to make TDM more known to new users, we should create also package for this OS. To improve your and my packages for the future coming tdm-installer, i have some questions and bugs. i would like to discuss them with you and others. Questions: Why is it dangerous to install tdm game-folder in "/usr/share/games" in Steam OS? The popular Linuxdistro's use "/usr/share/applications" to only place desktopmenu shortcuts (.desktop) in it. Whats your opinion about placing the TDM gamefolder in the homefolder? My opinion is to place the TDM-gamefolder (including the game missions) in the /usr/share/games/darkmod folder. Because other games / applications uses that folder too, instead of the home-folder. Some applications/games keep their personal settingsfiles in hidden folders in the homefolder, but other users cant reach for them (like the downloaded missions). Ok, there can be some write-permisions problems if you place it in a other folder, but can you solve this to give everybody read/write permissions. Whats your opinion about downloading the game-files, using the tdm-updater in a packagemanager. My opinion is to run the updater outside the package-manager, because it take to long to download 2.7 gb files (from some slow mirrors) and sometimes the download process stops.=== I have taken a look in your publisched package (thedarkmod_2.0.3+git+bsos6.orig.tar.gz). I will use your package as an example to improve my package. Here are some things/bugs i detected: (Note: At the moment i have no experience with Steam OS.) Package: i'm missing a menu-shortcut for the tdm-updater and a uninstall script.Spec file: You named your tdm-package "thedarkmod". It's not compliant with the debian package policy, and tdm-mappers doesnt like it. please change this to "darkmod"you forgot the "www" in the website. postinst: for the first install, i recommend to add the parameter "--noselfupdate" to the tdm-updater. (because the updater doesn't restart when its updated himself. It stops the installation process, in ubuntu's and opensuse packagemanager)
  22. I have listened to the songs (using player reviiri mentioned). In my opinion its sounds nice (good quality), but feels too modern. (got a modernized thief 3 feelings of it).
  23. I dont know how to help you, but i want to mention that i'm working on a debian package too. (My first package installs only the updater and sets permissions and .desktop files) Maybe you can implement this in your project (and\or give me soms pointers) Get the deb-file and his source from my portfolio.
  24. There is no total-progressbar. (it would be nice, to add it) My advice is to check te size of the folder. It takes about 2,7 gb. And if the download process stops, rerun the updater.
