  1. Yeah, the stuff I'm hearing is pretty awful.
  2. Looks like the Amazon contest page has re-added their reference to TDM: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1001928521 The PC Gamer article is really confusing, They call it a "Thief Gold" contest, but then go right into talking about TDM and how it was their "Mod of the Year." Weird. http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/02/19/square-enix-amazon-announce-thief-gold-modding-competition/
  3. Thing is, unless they extend the deadline from what it says currently, they aren't giving people a lot of time to work on their projects. End date is April 14th, which is less than two months away. Hard to get even a small mission done in that time frame. Then again, you're really only submitting a video, so the mod doesn't have to be in fully functioning order and can be released later when it's 100% working.
  4. The U.S. restriction is unfortunate. I think we should start making a list of people here from the U.S. that would be willing to enter the contest for some of the people who aren't eligible. Kind of an entry by proxy. It'd have to be some well established members here though, considering some of the prizes.
  5. Where do you get that from? There hasn't really been any kind of official announcement or details released for the contest yet.
  6. Wow, I just noticed that jtr went back and deleted all the text out of every post he's ever made here. How psycho is that?
  7. I think she just wasn't paying attention when she replied, because what she said makes absolutely no sense at all. Hard to believe after yesterday, that this entire day went by and EM still haven't officially announced anything. Must be a lot of t crossing and i dotting going on.
  8. Considering all you're turning in to SE is a video, I don't see how the mod itself could be declared property of SE or EM. But I'm sure the lawyers can find a way.
  9. This has been the smoothest start to a contest ever.
  10. @jtr - What was the "March 5" news? Not sure why you left TTLG - the place is full of people with every opinion in the spectrum - diehard traditionalists like yourself, new young punks who think the old guard it just a bunch of crusty old fools, and a whole lot of stuff in between those two. So if that place is no good, and either is this place (I assume the official boards are way out of consideration) - what is it exactly that you're looking for? I'm curious to know.
  11. The domain is registered to a company in Burbank, CA called Midnight Oil Creative. I suppose they could be organizing the contest for Eidos. They are connected to the gaming industry in some capacity, it appears. My common sense side says if this was BS, the TDM guys would have piped up by now. EM probably would have too for that matter.
  12. The page is still there, same link as listed above. The only difference is - any references to TDM have been removed. The whole thing is a little bizarre. I'm sure we'll get an explanation at some point.
  13. Uh, anyone here know what this is all about? (notice the mention of TDM) http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1001928521&tag=vglnkc8351-20
  14. You can add the Penumbra and Amnesia series, stealth is pretty core to gameplay with both.
  15. Hitman series Metal Gear series I've heard Chronicles of Riddick has decent stealth, but haven't played it Also, kind of weak, but Dishonored
  16. So you have no experience, but you're consulting on major games like Thief 4, LA Noire, Far Cry 3, and Tomb Raider. Sounds about right.
  17. Well, we knew the auto-takedown thing was there, it's been that way for a while now. But if I can do it manually, I will. I'm not concerned with the "perfect takedown" whatever that is.
  18. There is a button marked "melee" on the keyboard layout, so I'm hoping that means you can still do a manual blackjack.
  19. You bought the AMD code from someone other than AMD? That in itself sound fishy. Usually AMD will give you the code because you purchased something from them. I wouldn't think anyone should be reselling those things. What site was it, so we all know for future reference?
  20. And, he's going to make it using Dark Radiant. Somehow.
  21. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Dark Radiant is going to work with anything besides TDM and Doom3. Who's going to give you Thief 5? Sorry, but It seems like a lot of things you are saying just don't make sense.
  22. Some clarification would be good here. What do you mean by all of this? When you say "Thief" are you talking about just "thieflike" or a spiritual successor type thing?
  23. Need more info. Who did you buy the code from? How did they present or advertise it? Did they falsify info or mislead you in any way? Also, what do you mean by a "AMD redeem code?" I got some codes from AMD for 3 games when I bought my last video card, and I was able to get them registered on Steam.
  24. @Garreth - you gotta understand, the TDM team has been treading lightly I'm sure, especially with a new Thief game coming out from a major developer/publisher. You don't want to take any chances or put any ideas in their head that they should shut you down. Because they could do it, in an instant. No doubt about it. A couple of cease and desist letters from the Eidos company lawyer, and the The Dark Mod would be no more. It's a battle I don't think anyone here wants any part of, so I wouldn't take things like this so lightly. On your mission - it could be really good. Why not get a team of betatesters to go through it and fine tune it a bit? It would be a waste to just abandon the project, if that's what you're planning. I'll offer my help in testing if you want.
  25. Right from the start, if you go backward and climb the terrain, you can fall back behind the geometry and you can't escape, forcing a restart. Also, just the the left of the start, where the big door is impended into the mountain, there's an obvious texture missing, and you can see through the mountain into the same area described above. I also had framerate issues, with a Radeon 7970, on a PC just assembled a few months ago. I think this mission needed a little more testing before release. It looks promising though.
