  1. Actually England has some really great players this time, it just doesn't seem like a great team at the moment. Perhaps they'll pick up a bit, and changes will be made, but they don't seem to be gelling very well yet. But we do have some outstanding talent.
  2. less than £1000? Prepare to scrimp on some features then. For instance, you'll need at least 2Gb of RAM I'd say, at least a 7800 or X1800, at least a 3800+ AMD or equiv pentium, which all means you'll have to get a cheapish mobo, case, you can save a lot if you get a CRT instead of LCD monitor, but other than that, you really need those 3 main components to be pretty decent. Also I recommend www.scan.co.uk I just ordered the parts for my PC from them this morning.
  3. It's good but you spelt "Thief" wrong which makes it look terrible!
  4. So why are many societies gradually becoming more tolerant? Your suggestion would mean that it's a constant, surely. At least the liberalisation could be an example of rational logical thought overcoming these suggested "innate" dislikings, which once again suggests that they cannot be nearly as universal or powerful as you make out.
  5. there's a whole forum on TTLG dedicated to Bioshock already.
  6. Yeah, I'm lovin' the screens and the previews. Looking forward to it.
  7. John Lennon was right! ABOUT BUENOS AIRES!!!!
  8. haha, but the fat, camp Liverpudlian clarinettist won instead!
  9. Thanks, it was really great. It's not really a repertoire problem - it's the concerto problem. The classical guitar is best as a solo instrument and there are some great pieces, and many written by important modern composers even if there is no Mozart or Beethoven for it. But an instrument where to play a concerto one must be amplified in order to be heard... I think the organisers assume that for most instruments the pinnacle is a concerto, but it just isn't for guitar. Sure, Aranjuez is always popular, but it's a bit clichéd after all these years. Far better would have been to let me play the Benjamin Britten Nocturnal or something of decent weight but just solo. Still, working with such a great orchestra was a good experience, and I still do think that the piece I played has some truly beautiful moments, particularly the second movement. I think someone at TTLG is going to upload an mpg of the performance.

  11. The Dark Mod goes to Ancient Rome: a Time-Travelling May-Day Special.
  12. Yes, I think the ftp doesn't like long uploads or downloads very much...
  13. but it doesn't look the same. Alright, in the right light conditions, from far enough away, it looks similar, but a fully articulated hand still looks far better.
  14. They still don't look as good, and it feels a bit cheap to be using techniques that engines like the Dark Engine used over 10 years ago...
  15. True, like I said, it's simple and effective. It does enhance the contrast which is sometimes also stylistically preferable, if you're going for a sort of hyper-realism where everything is very vivid.
  16. Dodge and burn was pretty much presented to me as the most basic and effective way to add shading to simple sketches.
  17. Whoops, happy belated birthday!
  18. Wicked. We'll have to include something like this in the Team 2 map.
  19. Yes, the id workflow is model in lightwave, animate in Maya and then export to md5. All the static props are just lightwave -> Doom 3

it'll be negligible AFTER everything else is done. Right now it's little more than a needless distraction.
  23. However I am a motivational leader which this project does require! There's no one leader anyway, we got rid of that a while back. DOES NO ONE KNOW ANYTHING
  24. We've realised that and are putting stuff into action. In other news I bought a Wacom today, should be arriving soon, so I should be able to do graphics much more naturally and not feel a complete retard for not being able to draw with a mouse!
