  1. I am still working on the update to my contest map, which is slow going due to IRL work and low enthusiasm. After that, I've already got a concept for my next project. [edit]Ha! New user title! [/edit]
  2. And -- thank you all for playing, voting, and making missions I enjoyed. This was great fun. Now, after I finish the mission update (it is taking longer than I thought), it will be time to do something even better. TDM can do it, and I hope so can I.
  3. Better spend that energy on basic electrics and machinery - coils, transformers, pumps, old-looking dials, pistons and so forth; the stuff of a decent steampunk environment.
  4. The unicorn tapestry was one of the first images on a "medieval tapestries" site, and is also the third image hit on Google. Oh yeah, and it was turned into a Dromed object by Jason Otto. It is a popular image.
  5. This is pretty much the start - I suppose we will get something back that's close to the old layout/theme sooner or later.
  6. Not much work since early last week. And this weekend, I am focusing on my other hobby (that is, roleplaying games). The answer is the ominous "when it's done".
  7. They are almost certainly made out of patch meshes (available from the patches menu). Try it for yourself: 1) Create a 5x5 patch mesh, stretch it out a bit 2) Hit "V" for vertices 3) Drag vertices to create uneven ground, caves, sagging walls, or whatever you wish
  8. The mission was as entertaining as ever, but I experienced two bugs: 1) On the save/load screen, the rightmost, "parchment" part was squashed to 1/2 its width. 2) The relic objective became unchecked during play after finding it. Curiously, it was rechecked after completing the statue objective, but shortly afterwards, it became unchecked again.
  9. I do wonder. When can the mod be considered "not a beta anymore"? When all planned assets are released and major bugs squashed?
  10. Yum. Those of us who have played it are in for an enjoyable, relaxing replay. Good job!
  11. And "dust kittens" in Hungarian. WRT my fan, there aren't any in there. The ventilator is set up correctly, air goes out at the back.
  12. That looks like some serious playing time. If it is one single mission, how much time does it take for the level to load?
  13. I could finally play this mission to the end (missing 178 loot). Although the area was small, I liked how you let the player approach some of the places from multiple directions.; that's always a plus. Some more care with readables would go a long way, and the player shadow wasn't a very good idea, but otherwise, I must reiterate what I wrote on the first page - for a "five weeks in level editing" experience, this is mighty impressive. The brief underwater segment, in particular, was an example of good lighting, and I liked the hotel - it somehow felt real with the ramshackle and cramped interiors and steep stairs.
  14. I am a bit late, but thanks for your suggestion, Myagi! Turning the GPU clock down didn't have effect, but adjusting memory from 993 to 910 MHz got rid of the glitches. Or so I think, I haven't seen them since!
  15. Doors: Possible loot locations: That should set you up well. There is a precise lootlist on TTLG if you are still stuck.
  16. Not in a court where spending your opponent into bankruptcy is not an option - at least not any more than the creators of Doom could sue the creators of Unreal. Ideas and game rules can't be copyrighted, only specific artistic presentation can be. Patents and trademarks may complicate that a bit, but none of the ideas you mentioned would be accepted in court - provided the TDM team put up a defence, which modders, unaware of their rights and scared by nastygrams, often don't dare to do. IANAL, but this is my understanding of the issues, and the US Copyright Office seems to be in agreement (emphasis mine):
  17. A spiritual successor, yes. System Shock, no. And before you start, just ask someone from the TDM team how much work it is.
  18. Myagi, I have looked into this - there is an "ATI Overdrive" panel in the control center; would I need to downgrade the GPU/memory clocking to a lower MHz frequency, or am I off base with this?
  19. Massive list of improvements? No kidding!
  20. No, sorry. That's all the info I could get out of Windows; personally, I know next to nothing about hardware. All of the purchasing and assembly was my brother's doing, I only gave him the money. I don't even have the boxes any longer. Sad but that's how it is.

    settings bug

FWIW: An empty shop is considered a pretty severe design error among a lot of Thief FM fans for some reason.
  23. That doesn't look too hard on the hardware. Now this: This would be bad news for a weak PC.
  24. I don't find it wrong to vote on other contestants as long as it is done fairly. Of course, this assumes trust in the community - just like the assumption that people don't sign up under multiple user names to give someone a boost. Voting on oneself, I don't think that's the right thing to do, although I have a personal idea on how much my missions are worth.
  25. I have been getting this bug on this PC for a while. What happens is that while I am playing, odd, jagged green artifacts flicker on some brush faces (apparently including visportals - that's what I think, anyway). Unfortunately, I haven't been able to take a screenshot; the effect either lasts a very short time, or it isn't captured on shots. What's interesting is that I didn't have it before - might it be caused by turning Catalyst A.I. off to fix the rotating sky bug? I will have to investigate this, but if you have an idea, please post it. I've got an AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.01 GHz, 2 GB RAM and a recently purchased ATI Radeon HD 4800; TDM runs very well outside this problem.
