  1. Things are really coming along! Thanks, must be as exciting for you creators as for us future players... Neat the footsteps are going to be different, which made me wonder, Can different footstep sounds be put to different AI's? - or at the least, hammer footsteps sound different than say civilians?... that idea. Also, not sure if I saw an answer to this ( not even the question too, I guess...) Will guards (still) drown if they go into deep water? If not, can they in anyway get out of the water? Hah, be cool if they could swim...but I know, too difficult to implement..or not now anyway. Heh heh, maybe they could float while doing a walking motion - kinda like treading water Thanks M
  2. Uh, ....just one more thing, most if not all of the old radio programs are in the PD, Jack Benny, The Shadow, Burns & Allen, .... M
  3. I guess there are no burricks being shipped either? a thought I would like them to be tougher than what they were before, once behind them, you got 'em!
  4. I took a look at th 4850, and it does seem to be better, though there were some complaints of it being a little big, but that is ok. Got the 15% off tonight before that expired, but they forcibly dumped a "Free Gift" into my cart which I could not remove. It was a Rosewill rc-6 HDMI cable orignally for $20, but they took $5.00 off and charged me $15.00 for the cable that I (1) dont want/need (2) did not ask for!!! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ALL ABOUT??! I sent them an email saying to remove it, & will follow up with a phone call tomorrow morn when they open. Their move is pitiful! Used car salesman: Ok, you knocked the price down by $1,000 - You'll buy the car now?" Buyer: "Sure lets sign the paperwork" Used car salesman: "OK, now that's done, you'll notice in the fine print we are giving you free speakers.....for $1,200, but we'll take $200 off because they are free! So now you owe us another grand" Buyer: "What the......?" We'll see what happens.......
  5. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUTS! RE Toms hardware, I did not save the page, but there was one where he gave a big listing ( much more than your link) with statements about overall quality in descending order, and the card I listed was near the top - cant find it now! duh! Of course that does not over-rule what you sent me, I'll look at it some more! Sad to say, I am trying to build this computer on my wife's aim of keeping it around $400.00 - that makes it a challange! What I plan to get......... LINKS TO THE SITES ARE ATTACHED TO THE PRICE AMT OF EACH ITEM Case: $49.99 Cooling looks good, as well as space, options, layout. Board 99.99 (I am retaining some PATA (IDE) HDs that were recovered from my burned up PC as their info is needed, would like to reuse them) - this motherboard supports the latest AMD processors and DDR3 memory. Its got a newer chipset with two PCI-express X16 slots helpful for gammers. It can also handle 4 PATA (IDE) devices before having to get an IDE to SATA adapter CPU 120.00 triple core processor This is also a Black Edition processor meaning it has an unlocked multiplier making overclocking very easy, quite a few people have unlocked the 4th core, for me ,doesn't really matter. RAM 64.99 2 x 2GB 240 pin sdram ddr3. PC can handle up to 32GB, but the manufacturer has tested it up to 8GB. Have to have a 64-bit operating system to use 4GB or more of memory So far, $~363.00 PSU 59.99 price drop from $100, 600 watt, 4, 12V rails - which hold very steady according to reviewers Now deciding on graphics, and really do appreciate your input. I guess $85 may be the top limit........ I'll be looking hard now at your inputs THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm kinda a newbie at this! ALSO only plan on playing thief games - other games dont have the appeal ( for me)... - at least none yet
  6. Hi, I was wondering if you would be able to help before I spend $ ..Just want to make sure it does not have any issues with playing all theifs and esp the dark mod......... SAPPHIRE 100256L Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card Link is .....Radeon card Performed very well on Toms hardware site. Thanks! M
  7. uh, ........... Get some level of maturity while you're there.....
  8. . What video cards should be avoided? I'm building a computer and preferably would like to get a very good ( not the best = $$) card that can be used with no problem for all thief games ( priority for darkmod).. Thanks M
  9. CONGRATS KOMAG! Your life will never be the same in so many ways.... xpect to see you less and less here. M
  10. I'm not discrediting LG, I am praising the FM authors - they are an amazing group of people! I loved the original games (1 & 2) , as much as I loved many of the fan missions. I just will be in no hurry at all to buy T4 when it comes out because of the darkmod, and presumably all the fms there waiting to be played. Those FM's will satisfy this thief addict. T4 will not be a must-have, but will rather be a curiosity, presumably another good "BIG FM "game to play. Guessing their engine will do it a little more than the DM, but who knows, possibly the T4 crew will mess up some basic thief elements like what happened to T3 ( hope not). It seems to me DarkMod is all we need. I have the utmost confidence that the Darkmod deveolpers here know exactly what makes a good thief engine; and I think we will be bowled over by some of the talent put into the creation of a number of the DarkMod fm's. So what is all this T4 excitiment about? It'll be good to play, sure - but no hoopla. If we did not have a darkmod, only then it would be REALLY EXCITING
  11. Did not mean to imply one was better than the other, I was saying TDM appears to be complex enough to more than satisfy game players needs, with all the fan missions, and their variety by various authors; t4 may be a little better with design/effects, but I bet it will be mostly like playing another very well constructed long DM fan mission ( reflection of Calendera's legacy immediately comes to mind). Vanilla ice cream vs vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. both will satisfy the need for vanilla ice cream That's my gut feel. M
  12. Who needs T4 at all when we have the DarkMod?- new games built by fans who know how the heart of the game should be! - who would be better developers? I assume T4 Canada is aware of the formation of the DarkMod; I think they should be concerned, what will T4 have to offer that DM will not? - besides a price tag? By the time T4 is out, DM will be well developed with many missions out already. And as what we have seen with some of the fan missions already made with the dark engine, it was said, & rightfully so, that some of those missions equaled or surpassed those in the original games! So again...Who needs T4 at all when we have the DarkMod?!!!!!! Matt
  13. Stormbringer951Posted Today, 05:50 AM When's the next update? See.....? we're already addicted, - already obsessed.....
  14. Ok, Thanks, for the info I never built a computer, though I beleive I could figure it out with a lot of guidance, my wife says I dont have the time! Well, it would be one less thing on my list to do. When I focus on a computer, I 'll check back here to make sure it is compatible with the game. If it cant do darkmod or theif games, then, ..the computer will be just about worthless - at least to me! Matt
  15. Ok, My main computer fried its motherboard, and am looking to get a new computer. You can guess my next question.... There is a limitation though to make it more tricky, will only be able to spend about $400 - $500. Like another poster here, with one income, 2 kids, stay at home wife..things are a little tight. What do I need to look out for ( ie., make sure the new computer has) to run the future darkmod very well, as well as some of the traditional Theif fan missions? I only have one chance to do this right I guess. Thanks!!!!!!! Matt
  16. I was wondering too, but was biting my tounge. I know these guys are busy. Even if there is not much progress at this point, we still love to hear what little is going on. Whets our appetittes for the final product! Thanks Matt
  17. Sometimes I think about how much work all of you have been putting into this over the years - and wondered how well you are holding up? - Getting burned out, fed up at times? I've worked on a project with quite a few people and have seen our group really knock heads, - at times people getting pretty upset at each other - just wondered if there are behind the scenes - uh..discussions between the team there.. I imagine with a project like this it may be hard to see eye to eye. Cant imagine some of you have not walked away from this project as it must be a draining, very prolonged , and is an involved project. Maybe you are getting more energetic since the "end" can be seeen? Thanks for sticking together on this and having the perserverence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY IMPRESSIVE! Matt
  18. Wow, what progress! All of your work is so impressive! The sleep mode is great, and looks really smooth. I got a laugh as he got up, went to the end of the room, turned around and went back to bed - as if he got up just to turn the ringing alarm clock off! - I can relate to that! HAH. Little expecting him to pause a bit in the situp position from laying down - sort of like clearing his head..wiping the sleep from his eyes idea - but still is fantastic! Love seeing the monthly updates, and am always waiting day after day ( in the mid of the following month) to see the next one - it's like another turn of a page in a great novel; - cant see what's going on next. Rope swinging is cool, that should be a lot of fun, and cant wait to try out the lockpicks! Hmm, I get a feeling someone is working on a mission somewhere with these new implements - I hope THANKS for all the good work!! THis whole thing is going to turn out unbeleivably good!!
  19. My pleasure, good to give credit where it is due, Wow, really nice post! Thanks. We've had a few whack jobs appear on the forums, but generally...they get banned. They're alway a few whack jobs I guess.
  20. I have to reply here, I know very little 'bout darkmod programming, but I still have contributed to a few of the discussions here. I've been to other "game-site" forums, and read through those discussions on various topics. For quite some time, I've read through a lot of the discussions that goes on here, and just finished reading the all the inputs/replies in the unconscious guard topic, and I must say because of all the back and forth comments Iread, I noted no one got nasty or mean to each other, which makes this forum really stand out so much!! I cant tell you how bad other forums posters treat each other, Seems like some post just to get back at someone, or try to prove to all the other person is an complete idiot at best. Some seem only to get their ego stable by trying to reck others. maybe you know what I mean Here people with a LOT of knowledge dont get pissed off explaining basic stuff to others with little knowledge( me). Besides saying THANKS for creating the darkmod, THANKS for being fair and patient! At the very least, it keeps me coming back to enjoy the site for good discussions, not deconstructive attacks. THanks for that! This is one of my main emphasis to others when I tell them about this forum Thanks again! M
  21. Mortem, Thanks again for your reply, but unforturnately it did not work. I then started to move things around and really goofed things up quite well I've deleted and reinstalled doom, and will try to reinstall Lucia/darkmod and see what happens this time. I had it working once before! - that was what was so frustrating this last time Thanks again, I'll be back if I still have problems. Thanks!
  22. Made a slight headway, if I do not open the game via the new shortcuts with the new paths as suggested in the Wiki's - but use the game application in the Doom folder I get a little further, I seen the Darkmod page come up for St Lucia for a second, then get a runtime error. Hmmm M
  23. Thanks, did do that, and now am fighting a problem... I downloaded both St Lucia and Theifs' Den into the doom folder. When I go to launch the game, ID loads, get the screen with Mods on the bottom, click that, see Doom and Dark Mod Thief universe listed, click on Dark Mod Thief's Universe, screen goes blank, then id appears to load again and am taken back to the screen showing the Mods on the bottom. Stuck in a circle here. (I once had this up and running on this computer to play St Lucia & worked, but for some reason deleted the whole lot ( Doom and all) now want to reload everything to work in Darkradiant.) Paying more attention to details, I noted in St Lucia wiki it says........ To do this the DLL must be copied in the windows/system32 directory. The DLL can also be put in any other directory where a path is pointing to (meaning that the directory is included in the PATH environment variable when Doom 3 is run). If the library is not found when the mod is loaded, Doom 3 will show its blue window and can not be started. The Thief's Den wiki says You MUST copy this into your C:\games\doom3 folder OR your C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder (where it can be shared by other applications. If there is already one there then use the newest date.) I guess I read St Lucia as DLL can go into the sys32 and also be put into another directory ( ie., you have 2 of them in different places) Well made sure I only had one DevIL on my computer, ( in windows Sys32) removed Den and assocaited files from my doom folder, and still everthing runs in circles. If no one has a suggestion, I may have to delete the whole thing and start over. Thanks Matt
  24. Not sure if this should be a new posting but, ................. I was wondering is there a "no cd" for starting mods in Doom? Or does this question not make sense? Thanks!
