  1. I still use this technique, on occasion. Now I use 'basket' more for holding general ideas than for organizing the whole process.
  2. No. This one is sealed. A done deal. Never again! LOL I did however update DR and fire it up. It's about time for me to continue on with my pagan village mission, which I started in 2011 as a city/sewer/forest map. I have since removed the city/sewer areas and am working on building up the outdoor areas to make up for the lost content.
  3. I've never seen the walk-thru video. Hopefully it is from at least version 2 because the first release was quite terrible. I also just noticed that this is the "Old Thread" for siegeshop.
  4. I was very late in starting to play lotro. As a linux user, I sometimes run into problems trying to play some games. Lotro has been able to be run in Linux (using wine) for several years, but I had kind of forgotten about it and had never tried to install it before last year. In linux I suffer a game launcher which is prone to crashing before logging in, the game client which occasionally crashes to the desktop, and a broken in-game store and help system. Other than that it runs extremely well. I can often play for hours at a time, depending upon which map region I am in. Unfortunately, the regions of Rohan and Gondor are much more prone to crashes, often within 10-15 minutes of playing in some areas. Fortunately the city of Osgiliath (for level 100 daily quests) does not crash as often. I also do not remember the client ever crashing while my character was in an instance/dungeon/skirmish. Lotro is a rather nice game, with most of the lore coming from Tolkien's books rather than from the movies.
  5. Lord of the Rings Online (lotro) I'll have to look up Silkroad now.
  6. Things such as horseback riding: http://jdchoate.mcn.org/screenshots/games/tdm/ScreenShot00094.jpg Camping: http://jdchoate.mcn.org/screenshots/games/tdm/ScreenShot00092.jpg And fishing: http://jdchoate.mcn.org/screenshots/games/tdm/ScreenShot00093.jpg But I have not abandoned TDM... just taking a break.
  7. The main need for version 3 was this: Also did the following... Brightened up the ambient light in most locations by a factor of .1 or .2Replaced some texturesRe-did parts of the stone columns in the tombAdded fog to the graveyardRe-did the recently dug grave to have a better shapeAdded some decal textures here and thereAdded another wooden beam in an area where the player could easily take falling damageRemoved or moved a few models which were clipping into visportalsSoftened up some of the colored lighting in places where it was too intenseRemoved redundant assets from the .pk4 file, which were not yet included in TDM at the time of the original mission, namely the plague-mask and the jack-o-lanternRemoved my crappy owl patchwork-model from the tree in the graveyardI think that's about it.
  8. Thanks! I am happy to hear that, especially since this was originally a speed build (about 2 weeks) done by a rookie.
  9. The original contained .pk4s with the plague-mask and jack-o-lantern models and textures, which have long since been merged into the official TDM. Also was an texture of an owl which I have removed. I think I had originally included a .pk4 loot-pack which had such items as a jeweled dagger and other fancy loot.
  10. Update 3 now available. This fixes an AI death and also has a few minor adjustments and some texture changes. http://jdchoate.mcn.org/games/darkmod/samhain.pk4
  11. Yes, thank you for your comments There will always be glitches which will never get properly sorted. My favorite is when two guards try to use the same stall at the archery range at the same time, and one ends up shooting another. Then they fight to the death and any guards nearby go on alert when they see the body. Sometimes a player will reach the roof and find the guards already on alert when the player was not actually yet detected.
  12. Strange. I used to have some low fps in the 'briefing room' at the bottom of the big elevator, but thought I had fixed that. Some much desired visportals had to be left out of the elevator shaft, else pathfinding would break. I wonder if the slowdown is related to that.
  13. Since we already have the regular framed loot-able paintings, why not just add the gold frames. The mission authors could decide whether to use the gold frames or not. They could also use both in the same mission. They can make the gold-framed models present in the low and mid skill levels and use the regular frame in high skill level. Or mission notes could also be used.
  14. ... or "Thief"*. I heard that was a good one, though the graphics are a bit, ahem... outdated. * I just remembered the 'reboot' of that franchise was not titled with the #4. I was of course referring to the original.
  15. It appears to have been related to the Chrome extension, "Adblock Super", which I had added to Chrome earlier in the week. After removing it and sticking with regular adblock, the popup ad went away. I just looked on Google app store and that "Adblock Super" extension is no longer listed when searching "adblock", just the regular, plus, and pro versions. I can still get to the extension installer if I search "Adblock Super", including quotes, in google. This forum just happened to be the first page I was browsing when that advert appeared. Ironically, Adblock regular and Adblock Plus did not see it as an ad. So I assume it was an advert built-in to "Adblock Super" itself.
  16. This little bastard is fucking annoying. Do we really need an ad popping out from the side of the page every couple minutes??? This seems to be new behavior with Google Chrome (in Linux). I have never seen a pop-out ad on the right-hand side of the screen in Chrome before. This only happened just tonight on the TDM forums, but now I see the same ad pop-out on other pages. OK. The only thing new was my trying "AdBlock Super". Adblock plus and regular adblock have both been used for many months. But the 'super' version was new to me last week. After disabling that bastard I have no more pop-out ads.
  17. In linux I used to have audio latency and occasional popping, but that has been solved for a couple years at least. I have not noticed such audio popping on my current or previous sound cards. The current is Creative hi-def audio onboard an MSI Z97 Gaming3 mobo, with optional audio-power connector enabled (provides stable audio when many USB audio devices are attached and USB power is used). Previous audio on older system was HTC Omega Claro-Halo-XT, PCI card. Does this popping occur in Windows only, or have any linux users noticed it as well?
  18. After finishing Siege Shop 4, I have fixed an issue in Samhain Night which caused an AI death. I also went ahead and adjusted lights, changed textures, adjusted patches, and removed extra models which have since become redundant. I have a few more lighting adjustments and texture tweaks (it's about time for someone to re-do the spider-web decals, which are currently rather low-res) and then it should be ready for release. Awaiting the beta test report from my minion
  19. I'm all for missions in alternate environments. I have one in a space ship, currently on the back burner, with stars zipping past the windows and an active security camera with corresponding lcd monitor. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well. I also have one which features an (supposedly) short dude who lives in a home built into the side of a hill. It features a round green door with a central brass doorknob. Out front, on a bench, sits the homeowner...smoking buds in a pipe. Call it what you will, but it reminds me a bit of that "Hobbiton" place and its most famous character. So yes, from time to time it is nice to have missions not centered around "Garreth", etc, and his world.
  20. Release Candidate has been upgraded to final version. The only difference is the text posted in the original forum post on page 1. The siegeshop.pk4 has not been changed sine the release candidate was announced.
