Doesn't surprise me. There are loads of such cases these days. People just pretending that it's free while it isn't. I don't even think they do that on purpose. This kind of "living in a dream world" is concerningly common nowadays. Of course, often paired with the moral high stance, acting like "Uh, the big corporation do nothing but rip us off anyway, so, we deserve to have everything for free anyway!".

Blood West ain't too shabby: https://store.epicgames.com/de/p/blood-west-8f6ffd Although I already got it for free on GOG.

Ha, knew it would become lame after they gave away Hogwart's.

Fan Mission: The Accountant 2: New In Town by Goldwell (2016/05/09)
chakkman replied to Goldwell's topic in Fan Missions
If I recall correctly, Goldwell wrote in these forums once that he was working on a successor, but, ran into some technical trouble he couldn't solve when designing the mission. I think he's currently working on multiple parts of the Shadows of Northdale series. And, if I'm not mistaken, a little bird (on another forum) told that Act 3 is already in beta. -
-
I doubt that the info is wrong (at least for the most part). But, we'll see.
-
1st place: I am bird. Yes, I never even heard of that. VR is just niche, and, Thief VR is super niche.
-
I knew that the game would be niche, but, wouldn't have expected it to be that niche: https://steamdb.info/app/2800080/charts/ Whoever financed the game must curse hard now.

You mean the rest of the games was given away, but not RDR 2?

They're actually true most of the time. IMO, it's rather fake marketing. Companies "leaking" information to some self-centered influencers. Win-win, for the companies and the influencers, and, people seem to like that kind of shady marketing as well. Epic Games spent hundreds of millions on games they can offer for free in the past, because they wanted to launch a big attack on Steam, and acquire some similar market share. Which they will never achieve, of course, but, I'll take the freebies anyway.
-
IMO, getting it to Steam would bring a lot more new players.
-
Oh wow. Ill' surely get that one. Thanks.
-
Nowhere near what a mid range desktop PC or notebook can do though. And, apart from the touch controls, the big issue for me would be the small screen. I never liked to play on handheld devices.

People are really doing some crazy stuff.

The OP obviously knows of some super secret conversion tools which do the job for him.

A new, exciting update is about to land: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1150760/view/809086699269260569

@OnlyTaffingCowardsHide Any news on this? Have you looked into porting The Dark Mod to Cry Engine?
-
There is a symbol with 3 bars on the far right in bar with the address bar. If you click on it, there is a menu item for the settings. And, no, you are not forced to sign in.
-
Won't happen anyway. See the OP's posting history.
-
I think you vastly underestimate - the amount of work; the incompatibility with mission editors; the ability and availabilty of some sort of "conversion tool". But, nevermind, just go ahead, and lets us know about your progress. You pointed out the inferiority of TDM's engine often enough now. Time to port it to something superior. Good luck.

Yeah, unfortunately, that version of idtech isn't know for dealing with open spaces very well... Not sure how newer versions are. That said, you also have to consider what other stuff is connected to it. No level editor, people need to learn a new scripting language, and I don't even want to know how much coding has to be done in the new engine.
-
No. Go right ahead. Yes, it would be. I don't even want to imagine how much. And, I also don't really see the benefit of all that work. TDM engine is solid. Might not be extremely well optimized, but, that's also not really to be expected, with a total conversion. It performs well enough for what it does.

I can understand using A.I. for image creation, for pictures which appear in the FM, or maybe for textures and models, but, doing a whole mission with A.I.? Where is the fun in that? And, I wouldn't really want to go in the history books for being able to operate A.I. well... The artistic/creative side should be done by humans, not by a computer. I think the Wiki and tutorials videos are comprehensive enough so that anyone can learn mapping.

That's 2024. 2025 isn't over yet, so, it's not yet in the statistic.

The level of current missions for Thief Gold and Thief II is absolutely amazing, if you take the best missions avaialable. And, yes, they're another level than the older missions. There are some seriously talented people in thie Thief FM community, and, they've gotten better and better over the years. A great example for that is The Black Parade campaign. What I rather wonder is why so few of them ever made FMs for The Dark Mod (apart from people like Melan). I can only speculate, but, I guess that 1. they're used to the Dark engine and the level editor, and 2. they consider the Thief lore and gameplay superior. Which I sort of can understand. For example, what I always notice is that the lore and readables are much more elaborate and detailled in Thief FMs, AND FM authors actually stick to that lore, while in TDM, everyone seems to go his own way. The TDM lore is incomplete at best, and leaves much space for interpretation. I won't comment on the gameplay again, especially the blackjacking, I've done that enough in the past.
