  1. We could do a concept and include permanent emloyed mappers, each one does a map with predetermined things like scenery and characters. Lately they are all put together. Or we do it like they did in Thief before, that everyone does a map and tells his rough properties for the map and we forge the story along with the maps created before.
  2. Thats true but I think but we shouldn't undervalue that an atmospheric campaign with an interesting setting and a suspenseful storyline could have pushed TDM quiet a good way up. Of course that's my opinion, but I feel that all the single missions are quiet fun for a little while. Each has a little story that begins and ends in one or two hourse gameplay. That's okay for me. It's just like "The Keep Of Metal And Gold" where you could download tons of little missions and have some fun whenever you wanted. But I believe that's not the thing that made Thief so famous. As far as I remember there was a wonderfull storyline in the thief games. First the Pagans, then the Mechanists, and at last a new corrupted power forced me to get deep into the Thief universe. However the atmosphere and the gameplay where as much as important to me, and that's what TDM does as good as (and in parts even much better) the Thief series. But it lags of a determined and exciting story. Sure you decided to let the community as much freedom as possible in creating a new Thief Universe, but why isn't there a way, that the community does create such a campaign together? I think that wouldn't harm the freedom in any way as you can see how good it worked at alle the Thief fanmissions and great mods. I believe, TDM is a great mod, with a dedicated community but it even has much potential and we also rely on a good campaign that we can show of in some epic-like short film on the modding- and video-platforms. I think that'll make the people want to explore TDM and get really into it. Hopefully I could explain my impressions in a good way (yeah, bad english, sorry guys), so that you can pick them up like I meant them, and don't think that I just want to niggle or be a smart-ass or somethin' Thanks for reading =)

  4. I really like the idea that the walk animations are randomly chosen so this brings a slight variety into each game. Great!

  6. Does this work for you in the new 1.03 version? I extracted the brightener.mtr into my doom3/darkmod folder but this doesnt work for me ingame.
  7. That's what I tried to explain. Sorry for the bad english! The game is uncut in the german stores for 20 euro. Only in steam there is it for 10 euro due to the christmas sales. So I only can get this through steam, you know? Thanks a lot to Midnight, who helped me out! =)

  9. Hey merry x-mas!! Can't wait for TDM 1.03 to be downloaded As some of you might already know there is a christmas sale going on steam. The problem is, steam dowsn't support any age check, so all games I buy are in Germany cut. No blood, no corpses, no ragdoll. You can buy thegames in Germany uncut, but not for that price you could in steam today. I wanted to buy CS:source today for 5 € but don't know any foreign people in steam. That's why I ask if someone could gift me CS:S in english if I donate the money via paypal to you. Then I would have it in english and uncut, like I had if I had bought it in a shop.   10. This is one of the best missions I played yet! It has much atmosphere (I like it creepy) and a very good use of triggers and events. It's in my eyes a very special thing that everyone should have played! A big thank you!

Just a general question about Voices in TDM: Would it be possible to extract the voice sounds from Thief 1 and 2 (they were in .wav format as far as I can remember) and overwrite the actual TDM-setting? Or are there too many differences so that there are not enough sounds which are fitting to the TDM voices? Just a question because I know it's not possible because of copyright-bla
  15. Okay that's cool - thanks a lot you two! All I need is a good singer, because I can't myself. I only got the song and the text done. As this one of my favourite english forums, I wanted to ask if there's some interest on correcting my lyrics for my first song (as you know my english is not the best) So here it is - let's see what's okay and whats wrong: I'm lying in my bed, but I don't sleep.   17. Makes a good impression to me since I played it for 30 minutes or so, but the loading bug really is a pain to me since I get caught by the guards really often. I now have to restart the mission for the fourth time because I can't load my old games

  21. Hey there! I just wanted to make a suggestion about a Question-Answer-Speech System like in Half-Life. How it works: If 2 NPCs are in the same room or encountering each other, one of them is asking a random yes/no question to the other, and he is answering a yes-like, a no-like or a i-dont-know-like answer. This happens at random time events as long as they're together in a room. Would add much more atmosphere and personality to the game I believe. Could that be possible?
  22. Nach der langen Diskussion hier würde ich einmal vorschlagen, über eine etwas freiere Übersetzung nachzudenken. Beispielsweise (für die 3 Stufen) Novize - Hohepriester - Erbauer Erbauer-Novize - Erbauer-(Hohe)Priester - (der allmächtige) Erbauer Sollte ich das gänzlich falsch verstanden haben, und der Lord Builder wäre mit dem Master Builder gleichzusetzen, so würde ich hier keine differenzierte Übersetzung anbringen, sondern die selbe für beide Varianten (wahrscheinlich "Erbauer" und für dessen Jünger "Baumeister" / "Konstrukteur" / "Gestalter" / "Former" / "(Be)gründer" / "Fanatiker" / "Gläubiger" / "Anhänger" / "Jünger"). Ich weiß nicht, was ihr davon haltet, aber bei einer Übersetzung sollte eher Wert auf Sinn und Inhalt im Zusammenhang mit dem Story-Hintergrund gelegt werden, als auf direkte (und korrekte) Übersetzung, sonst klingt das schnell "blöd"

  24. As there was a big community around Thief Fan Missions (if you look at the keep of metal and gold e.g.) I am also very interested, if we've got some old school Thief mappers here.
  25. Hey there! I know it is a matter of taste but I experienced the arrow grab sounds like grabbing for a bunch of crayons. I got a bow myself and arrows too of course, and the actual sound ingame doesn't sound like the typicall arrow timber in real life. Did you never consider to change the arrow grab sound into something more realistic for the upcoming version?
