  1. You didn't "find" it. It's literally the first hit when you search for "export DDS". I'm starting to doubt that any of you even have Dark Radiant installed on your computers at this point. ...or maybe this has turned into some sort of a joke at my expense - don't know, don't care. Fine: Don't send me files. Turns out I didn't need them anyway.
  2. ...except in this case, having no DDS is actually better, because TGA is better than DDS. I'm just so done talking about this. This thread didn't need to happen.
  3. Yes, there is a scale that goes from internet converter results, to Gimp results, to "I am Springheel, king of the forum, and I have the source files, and I know everything, and I can provide you with the perfect godly DDS.". ...and on this scale, having no DDS, is the lowest possible quality.
  4. This was the equivalent of me asking you to pass the salt, and you going "Did someone say salt? Did you know that there are plenty of unclaimed salt mines not far from here? This is a list of addresses and contact information to the people in charge. It won't cost you a thing, and you'll make lots of profit, and you can have all the salt you want too. Just look at all this salt.".
  5. Yes, I saw that, but online tools are usually about getting a crappy result, and then being told that you have to pay if you can an actually good result, so figured that Gimp, and the forums, would be more reliable. ...but apparently you'd much rather like to recommend software to me, than do basic stuff. It's weird.
  6. Guys, since the bugs wasn't about the TGA having no DDS, I will never ever have to make a DDS ever in my life. I just asked you for a single DDS. I don't understand you.
  7. Why not simply share scripts and entity definitions amongst those who want it? I don't mind switching between keys. It makes me aware of what room I'm opening the door to. Lockpick switching gets tiresome, but having three levels of locks (triangle, snake, and both) is still realistic, so you don't have to make every lock a triangle-snake-triangle combo as a mapper. I'm also sure that you can facilitate key management, by simply scripting to remove a key which has opened all the doors it can open in a map. Again, that's up to a mapper to program.
  8. "Leave Normal Maps as TGA" Thank you. That means that the bug isn't about that.
  9. Okay. It could still be related to the issue I dealt with recently, so I'll still look into it, but that will have to wait until tomorrow, so try fixing things on your end as well.
  10. Never mind. I found an additional DDS file I need, so this wasn't just a one-off mistake, so I guess I have to upgrade.
  11. This could be related to the propagated sound ("sprgs") from the sound of a dropped body, being set too high. If I'm going to have a guess, it's due to the new build fixing the case sensitive bug, but having that sound set to a too high value. If you can show me which sound it is that a dropped body creates, and suggest a value to add to the alert level, I could hotfix it for you.
  12. It would literally take either of you five minutes to unzip "tdk_ai_humanoid_nobles.pk4", and go to "\models\md5\chars\nobles\noblewoman\nobletop2_local.tga", and export it, and yet you want me to spend an hour downloading a massive program, and risk compatibility issues with my operating system, or better yet, install a whole new editor, as if my computer wasn't full enough.
  13. I only ever expect to replace this one DDS file. If I run into more missing DDS:es than this one, I'll upgrade. Upgrading takes a long time for me. It can take an hour. I don't have an hour.
  14. I need to export the default file "nobletop2_local.tga" to a DDS file, because I think it's a missing key component for a patch. I have GIMP, which can usually do that, but I haven't updated it in three years, and so I don't have the DDS plugin for it. I hate to install program updates, so if somebody already has a newer GIMP, could you just send me the exported DDS? That would be great.
  15. I feel like he's got no business thinking he's a fraud. People act like I'm the fraud around here sometimes, and I haven't released shit, yet I know I'm not a fraud. I think that what we might be dealing with here, might be some sort of a fraud fraud. Keep up the good work, DeTeEff.
  16. Sorry. Just got out of bed, and forgot to copy Sotha's link to replace Nico Autia's (which only briefly mentions objectives).
  17. Frauds are people who don't try their best. You are obviously trying your best, and are willing to learn. You just happened upon bad circumstances. I'm sure that you'll solve this problem. Check out Sotha's video-tutorial on how to do objectives and see if it can teach you anything: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79L1BGyM9kY
  18. Could you give an example of this doing more harm than good? ...because I seriously doubt that. After implementing every patch, I verify in the console that the warnings and errors are gone, and that no new ones have popped up. These patches are also easily removed. If they make something not work, then remove the affected entities from your map, save, delete the patch file, and restart Dark Radiant. The default pk4 archive should then take it from there. Don't just wiggle your fingers and tell ghost stories, when you apparently don't know much about assets to begin with yourself. "I created a script in assets SVN (devel/find_in_fms.py or something similar) which can search files in FMs for a particular string or regex. Perhaps it is not very easy to use, but it helps to find all usages. Of course, it requires all FMs be downloaded locally (from missions database SVN)." That would be great for those mappers who want to make sure that those fireballs and waters are working.
  19. Thank you, but right after this post, I made the decision to start supplying the forum with hotfixes, and so the newspapers was the very first thing that I patched. I might still need that link, though, because it wasn't a perfect patch.
  20. Well, not always. First of all, remember that it snaps to the current gridsize. Second of all, take care to align things so that components don't begin to misalign from eachother. Model doors is for example something that you should never snap to a grid, because their handles will desynch. It would be great if they were set up to snap to a grid, but they're just not. ...and third of all, my last post was about tiny brushes disappearing when snapped to the grid. Know when to snap things to the grid.
  21. I changed my internal clock battery, so it'll last me a couple of years more. I was thinking of buying a new computer, but then armageddon happened and apparently the computer prizes just shot up like crazy. ...and then there's a war with Russia, and then there's gonna be the oil crisis starting October, and after that zombies, and after that, you know, after the zombie apocalypse has killed everyone, and just me and Civvie 11 is left on the planet, then I figure I can just break in somewhere and get me a computer for free. ...so I'm holding out. I don't need a new version of The Dark Mod - it's good enough as it is. Once I've recreated my whole hometown in a map, then I might want to get more bells and whistles.
  22. Dude, I'm stuck with Windows 7, so if you're telling me that there will be issues with 2.11, I'm just not going to upgrade TDM or DR, ever. (...and no, I don't have hundreds of MB to spare on my drive either. It's full.)
  23. Are you refering to the image quality? It's because of the file size limitation of the forum. I could probably make the images better than to just make them 25% and save them as gifs, but I figured that you've seen crates and stairs before, right?
  24. Interesting: If you group several 0.125 wedges together, they desynch from the grid (which is normal), but if you then take each of these individual wedges, they can only snap back to the grid at certain rotations. At one rotation, DR instead responds with "snapSelected -grid 0.125000 translateTool WARNING: invalid plane after snap to grid WARNING: invalid plane after snap to grid WARNING: invalid plane after snap to grid WARNING: invalid plane after snap to grid WARNING: invalid plane after snap to grid snapSelected -grid 0.125000" and the brush disappears. This seems like something that can be fixed without requiring more precision, since it seems to snap just fine for wedges rotated in other 90 degree directions. It may seem like a small detail, but if it's these tiny miscalcs that result in "vertex drift" at 1 unit grid sizes, then that's a bit of a concern, imo.
