DR Spawnarg Filter Type

I'd like to file a DR enhancement request to add a spawnarg type to the current entityclass, texture, and object types.

I'm interested in being able to filter entities based on their difficulty setting, so I can easily see what's going to appear in each difficulty level.

But it would be useful for other situations, for example showing just the "team N" entities. If you're in the habit of setting your AI to team 0 during development (as I do), then putting them in their correct teams for final testing, then this type of filter could quickly show you any you missed.

Also, if mappers alter the architecture based on difficulty (via func_statics), this could be an easy way to see how the map looks in each difficulty setting.

I'm sure there are other cases as well.

Comments?

The idea sounds intriguing, and is certainly useful for large maps. I guess it can also be implemented rather quickly, but that would be something for greebo to judge.

If that gets added, it would be very cool fi.i to filter out all lights of a certain color, or all AI that are not named "benny" :)

That would be a helpful feature.

If I may add another one that is loosly conneted to filters and layers and bugs me.

Reason is convenience for growing maps as well: I do work a lot with the Entity List. This can grow rather huge. Yes I know typing the entity name do find things. But I think it could be an additinal good and helpful feature if there would be a selectbox at the entity list called "show only displayed" (or some name like that). And if that selectbox is checked do hide all filtered entities (through filter menu and hidden layers) from the entity list. So that the entries in the entity list only do match the entities shown in the mapping views. And if the selectbox is not check-marked the list show all entities like today (this should be default) .

I think such could enhance usability of the Enitiy list, Filters and Layers even further.

Thanks if giving that some thoughts...

Hm, yes that sounds useful. Also, (maybe that is already possible), I often wished that when you view the entity list (from the "Map menu") overview, that it was possible to select all the entities of one class (e.g. double click on it or something, and all the entities of that class are selected and thus highlighted.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
