Questions to the TDM developers

Guys another community that i also go to, is trying to revive the multiplayer part of the old Severance The Blade of Darkness game on the idtech 4 engine, but we have no experienced coders so we have some problems, first is how to make so If a monster gets within a certain distance of the player we check if contact is made with a sword between monster and player (how do you guys detect your sword is taking health from the guards? Is it using physics?). Second can you guys give us a rundown on how to import riggs to idtech 4 because our riggs are coming 90 degrees off. All help will be appreciated because we are really stuck on this.

 

Lastly if exists in here some thief fan that also loved BOD we would love to ear from you.

Argoon, the loyal Doom 3 mod booster is working on this. ^_^

 

(He's always sticking up for TDM over at Moddb. Argoon, Ianna_Keeper, and Swordbreaker are the most loyal long-term fans outside these forums. :wub: )

Argoon is not working per se on the mod he is giving moral support and ideas :D , the ones that are more involved in the making of this mod is a Russian modder (hero) called Harrison and Sir Random for the moment, we sure need more people on this especially doom3 coders.

Severance is a fantastic game, and it's pretty nice to see people still interested and working on this. Wish you guys all the luck. There are a bunch of Doom3 fantasy mods around (specially the Hexen one), dont forget to look for possible contributors over there, it would be really awesome seeing BoD ported to Idtech4...

      The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
