I just created this account to thank you people who made this mod, I have been lurking after a couple of years, and I have seen your struggles and your successes....as a die hard fan of Looking Glass and Thief I must say this is a great homage to them. Even if this does not get of the ground I sincerely hope you guys find another engine or lets hope thief 4 is mod friendly. The Thief community is probably the greatest I have ever seen, and I just wanted to get this off my chest. NEVER surrender.

But what do you mean "Even if this does not get of the ground"? We are on version v1.07 already and v1.08 will be out soon :)

Hi, crescent hawk, and welcome to the boards! :) Thank you for your kind words; feedback of every kind is much appreciated.

 

An engine change will not happen in the foreseeable future; however, with open-sourced Doom3, future updates (like the next one!) will lead to performance increases and the expansion of technological possibilities -- of course, we also need more mappers to translate these advanced into full, playable missions.

Welcome to the forums. TDM is definitely off the ground, it can only get better but with D3 being open sourced that doesnt mean it would require a new engine. The only thing that is missing is maybe a larger audience but once I release my "Nude Noblewoman Skin Patch" we should see an influx of new blood ;-)

Welcome to the Dark side hawk. B)

 

Yeah Dark Mod is definitely up and running, even on version 1.07 (1.0 was the full game, and it's been improved 7 times since then). Have a download and get playing if you haven't already! There are like 60 FMs to play now.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

      The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
