What effect on TDM will a level editor have if one is released with Thief 4?

The title of this thread really ought to be something like "What effect will the absence of a level editor for T4 have on TDM?" since this is the most realistic option we're looking at, I think. We'll have this new slew of players and people interested in the gameplay... How many of them might get interested in playing TDM, and how many of them might get ambitions to make their own levels? And what are ways we might leverage that along with the fact that T4 will probably not have FMs, but people may be looking for something like that in wake of the game.

. Very true! Did they did level editor for Deux HR? Edited by someTaff

What excuse do we have not to sculpt, and sculpt, and sculpt, until the job is done?

If they release anything for customization it'll likely be something stupid like the Absolution 'Contracts' mode. Something like kill restrictions, time restrictions, loot goals, focus restrictions, etc etc. Basically, player made objectives for the vanilla OM's with leaderboard statistics. Must be logged into EM servers as part of DRM package, + purchased with DLC for great justice.

Ive made peace with the fact I will have to buy this game on steam, but under no f***ing cercumstances what so ever will I entertain having to be permanently online to be able to play.

You can play Steam games in offline mode, no worries.

They already said Thief won't even have online play IIRC, so there's no reason for it to require that.

Edit: It would affect what could go on a leaderboard, though, since it's too easy to crack client-side stats. But it's easy to just let you play the game offline & not let your stats go to a leaderboard.

Ungoliant is talking about downloading fan-made achievements, and maybe being online like I just mentioned (to register it for some leaderboard)... But that's nothing like authentic modding, and still wouldn't stop you from playing the game offline.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
