i was just wondering about the water.

since so far in doom 3 i have not come across any water, will the water for the dark mod have some sort of pixel shading effect?

At this point we have not seriously started investigating this, as we have other things currently to do. There are some references on doom3world which seems promising though.

There is a water mod made by idiom and someone else, which is quite effective. The only bug with it is that if you swim in line with the surface, you see the player model reflected in front of you...but this could be solvable yet. Aside from that, it does look good!

I tried a script for water that came with an example level but it froze my computer up good

 

the script I found had ripple effects and was like looking at flowing JELLO

 

please keep water good but not to good...

 

I think a slight advancement on DROMED water would be nice but DONT GO CRAZY WITH IT

 

game play to me is more important not AWSOME beautiful water I

THe funny thing about water in the the Dark Universe™ is that its made from nitrogen and hydrogen, rather than oxygen. THis is because the elements nitrogen and oxygen are reversed to make room for some new ones in the periodic table. THese new elements are essential constituents of certain magics. THe essential element in the respiratory functions of all animals is nitrogen in the Dark Universe™

THis means that water is heavier and also thicker. It also freezes at a lower temperature and boils at a higher one. The change in refraction properties also makes you see an image of yourself at certain angles...

I whole heartedly approve this explanation (where the hell's our 'thumbs up' emoticon already??). Also, some compounds formed by these new elements may cause bsp holes.
