SLI support?

It is my assumption that The Dark Mod doesn't support SLI. I'm running two GTX 780's at 2560 x 1440 and at least one fan mission so far ran my PC into the ground.

By that I mean Doom 3 doesn't support SLI. If it did I'd have a smoother frame rate. On the other hand, Crysis 3 and Metro Last Light run fast and smooth maxed out and Doom 3 is an older game...

Not only that, but it only supports one processor core, which is annoying, to say the least. However, we are still waiting for one of the coder gurus to fix that. You don't happen to be proficient with that kind of stuff? ;)

My Eigenvalue is bigger than your Eigenvalue.

Lately, nvidia's OpenGL drivers have been particularly difficult for non-partner code. I suppose if a high profile benchmark site put TDM on display they would perhaps do a little work to optimize better. For most folks disabling SLI and Threading Optimization in the drivers will improve things significantly. Optionally, you could try manually choosing either the Doom 3 or Dark Athena SLI profiles.

Once the Dhewg merge is complete, there may be additional performance improvements on the TDM side.

That said, I must confess that the cave in NHAT 2.0 looks like a pathological case. It may have low draw count but the shadow fill and overdraw are probably quite high. I suggested that biker make the stalactites into LOD entities but that's my personal opinion.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

Yeah, NHAT was the map that made me not bother with the rest of it.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
