Start and stop animated textures?

Is it possible to start and stop and restart an animated texture?

Thanks!

If you just want it to stop and display frame 0, that should be easily enough done with shaderParms. If you want it to pause at an arbitrary frame/position and resume movement from there, then I think you'd also need a controlling script to track the state.

Some things I'm repeatedly thinking about...

- louder scream when you're dying

I just want the texture to play from frame 0 when triggered

As I understand it, time begins on map load, so a table or something used with time isn't otherwise guaranteed to start on any given frame. (Though there does seem to be a spawnclass called idTarget_SetShaderTime...) So I think a script would be needed to work around that (unless the entity links texture frame to sound and frame 0 = silence).

I don't know how switching to a videomap would behave. Maybe you could even use a GUI surface...?

I'm not sure what you mean by a GUI surface? The surface of the object has to be the texture which is animated.

I'm just looking for a way to play the animation from the start. The texture animates great in game but because it's not loop able I need to tell the game to play it from the start of the animation when a trigger goes off

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
