Ghoul Animation Idea

A point made by people is that they don't remember which Doom 3 creature the ghoul enemy was a reskin of. I believe it may have been of "boney", the unique fast zombie from the beginning of the Doom 3 campaign. That doesn't matter as much now that the game uses its own unique models, but it made me wonder, what made boney different from the other zombies? For starters, he was less damaged, quicker, and moved with an almost Apelike gait, loping and half-hopping after you.

So, if anyone wants to make a ghoul model, the key difference should be speed and an appearance that contrasts the slow, desiccated corpse look of a Dark Mod zombie with an alive yet diseased, more animalistic movement speed.

When I envision a ghoul in TDM, I think of the apparitions in Thief. They were the creatures that creeped me out the most when I was a kid. Yeah, the zombies sounded scary, but the apps were worse. Also, they had ranged attacks (and pretty good aim too).

I think a monster inspired by those would be a better direction to go than another zombie.

But a ghoul is a form of corporeal undead, as in solid flesh and bone. Weren't apparitions ghosts?

Ghosts have been probably the most fruitful area for creative modifications of existing AI. I do miss the eerieness of Thief's Apparition sound set, though.

What happened to the alternative zombie skins...? http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17200-the-necrobobicon/page-6

Some things I'm repeatedly thinking about...

- louder scream when you're dying

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
