Doomed

Recommended Posts

I don't make maps for games usually, but I decided I'd start using DoomEd so as to have some experience with the program. However, I seem to be having some trouble with it. Wether I've set it up badly (Most probable) or my install is corrupt (Possible) I don't know. Anyhoo, on to the problem:

In the textures inspector, there's nothing. Nothing at all. I've Googled for a soloution, but i haven't found anything useful. I downloaded the "clean texture pack" to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

Any suggestions (Other than 'Fire! And lots of it!') to help a simpleton like myself would be muchly appreciated. I'm sure it's something simple i.e. I need to check/uncheck a box in the preferences...

Thanks in advance.

Which program are you refering to? DoomEd or GTKRadiant? With Doomed you can hardly install it worng, because it gets installed along with the game, and the only thing you have to do is (in worst case) set the mod directory.

If you are refering to GTKRadiant you must point it also to your installation directory. I managed to do it, but don't ask me how. :)

I have to say that it was DoomEd. The simpleton theory holds out though... God bless the double click. It'll work wonders, even for people like me.

Thank you. OrbWeaver and sparhawk, your interest and patience knows bounds that I shall never understand!

Does that sound gay?

the texture window is showing textures in use, since you have not applied any to your brushwork there will

be none shown yet, you need to select the texture you want to use from the materials window.. select the

brush/face you want to texture and browse the material window and you can see where the textures are.

after you picked/applied one it will be shown in the textures window, and you can use the texture window after

that to apply the texture to any further brushwork since it will be there.

in gtk/qeradiant the texture window always had the textures/materials there... its been changed for doomed.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
