Dropping Worthless Items

I did a search and I checked through the five first pages and couldn't find a topic about this one.

 

Remember when you would grab a vase, goblet or similar that you thought you could loot in Thief and notices it is completely useless? You think of getting rid of it but you have two options;

 

1. Throw it as far as you can hopefully just distracting a guard in the right way.

2. Use the drop button and hopefully it will drop on a soft surface, or show the whole world you're looting in the baron's room.

 

Atleast it was like this for me in the Thief games. Please oh please, if we would get a useless item or would want to cancel a distracting throw, could we get the option to drop the item silently (make it appear on ground or something). Maybe just make the ordinary drop button a silent one? A thief should be able to something like this silently.
