Thief Heads

Ok, I'm going through the theif model to see which, if any, D3 heads will fit on him. Ideally we will have an attachable hood to add onto them as well at some point.

Actually, it turns out that most of the D3 heads are too big or muscular to work on the thief. I've updated the def file. Even the two that don't look that bad still leave a bit of a gap in the back where the hood would normally be.

I know why the thief texture looks a little plain--it appears to be missing some parts. Compared to the original version Odd posted:

Our current version seems to be missing the wrap around the neck/shoulders, as well as some buckles and other details. And the wrinkles in the clothing seem much less pronounced in our version, not sure why.

If you've been using the version Domarius first worked on he, said initially:

Okay with oDDity's help on MSN, I got the Thief in the game with all his textures on and a few anims. Okay, almost all his textures on. But the shaders are right for the ones that are on.

Also he's been resized by 110%

He has some holes where there is some texture missing somewhere...

So there should be lost textures somewhere?

Maybe we could have a separate thief scaled appropriately?

It's not so much the height as the fact that he's thin. Most of the heads have very muscular necks that wouldn't look right even if they were the right size.

There's geometry missing, and no normal maps. THe correct final model is 'farrelltried.lwo'

I couldn't find the normal map for him in my rar files, I'm not sure how it escaped, but I found a version of it on the bottom layer of the psd file 'farrell_d'.

Cool. I found him but he's going to need a little work. The lwo's mesh is combined so I need to separate them & since Maya separated it into more sections than I want, I'll have to rejoin certain meshes. Thanks, oDDity :)

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.
