Any Satriani fans?

Goin' to see him 2-nite, yo. Should be pretty cool to have one of these sessions with an actual seasoned, experienced, and ridiculously skilled musician, as opposed to one of the usual speed thrash punks they momentarily pull away from the busy life of being just another ho-hum carbon copy in the crowd. Ouch. :P

sounds cool, I have that old cd that everyone has I think, from like the early 90's or something, good stuff

CD? We had the audio cassette! That's how long ago it was. Surfing with the alien, was the title of the album. It has a pic of the Silver Surfer on the front, with a red background.

Oh cool (re: going to the concert).

I play Circles on my guitar a lot ... something about that song makes me keep coming back to it.

Two friends of mine went to the big 3 concert in the 90s (Satriani, Johnson, and Vai), and I was really jealous. Apparently a guy next to them caught a Satriani pick when he threw it into the audience, or maybe it was my friend himself (it was a while ago). Now that would be a cool souvenier.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Yep, he threw a pick into the crowd at guitar center (about 350 of us) after each of the songs performed. I didn't get one; too far off to the side.

The talk wasn't what I originally expected, but it turned out to be a better show than I expected. On the one hand, I expected 20 or so people, no more. I figured no one would know about the event, and that Joe isn't exactly Madonna in popularity, and well, it's just some city in Pennsylvania... I was very wrong. They had to pack the store with 150 more people than they expected, and I suspect they violated fire code to do so -- we were wall-to-wall like sardines, more than half the crowd standing and even leaning around the corner to see. So, there wasn't much "intimate talk" as there would be with a crowd of 20, answering specifics and how-to's. But on the other hand, I also didn't expect a free 6 song concert, :D, so that worked out nicely. He did handshake/autographs/photos with everyone too.

It's funny. Since the late 80's/early 90's when I started listening to him, I always felt that, while perhaps he's not the pure speed-shredder of an Yngwie (though that's to take nothing away from his speed at all), he seems somehow... melded with his guitar. Like he always gets exactly the sound he wants from it, like he never makes a mistake, like it's a part of him and it's as natural to him as breathing. Well, someone in the audience asked him some general question about the musicianship of the whole thing, and he basically broke it down to "study your theory, learn the fretboard, there's no question, you need that. You also need to learn not to make mistakes." My suspicion confirmed. So, just that easy, eh Joe? :)

Well there's my little narrative.

For completeness, here's a vid someone took (how they got a whole song is beyond me; I chickened out and never took more than 10 seconds at once) of the NY show (not the one I went to). Apparently there are a lot of these!

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
